Role Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated individual to join us in this newly created HR and Governance role at Dialogue Earth. We are seeking an organised and proactive person to provide day-to-day support across both functions, with around 70% of the role focused on HR. The HR and governance officer will lead and manage the organisation’s human resources, governance, and compliance functions. They will ensure that HR function and practices are fair, legally compliant, and aligned with organisational values, and will support the Board of Trustees in fulfilling their governance responsibilities. This role combines operational HR management with oversight of governance processes, supporting a positive, inclusive, and legally compliant working environment.

Main Responsibilities

Human Resources:

● Coordinate recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions and contracts, applicant screening, supporting interviews and collecting references;
● Manage staff onboarding processes and induction material;
● Maintain and update HR policies, the staff handbook, and training records in consultation with the COO;
● Manage the HR system (Natural HR or equivalent) and ensure records are accurate and up to date;
● Manage EAP scheme, training, and benefits (e.g. Climate Perks, glasses benefit, Cycle to Work scheme);
● Coordinate staff performance reviews and support line managers with induction, appraisal, and probation processes;

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Case worker lead responsibility in cases involving the protection and safeguarding of children and / or adults (essential), with at least some of that experience gained in the statutory safeguarding agencies (desirable). 

Broader leadership and management responsibility and/or influence regarding the development of good safeguarding practice and healthy safeguarding cultures. 

Up-to-date knowledge of research and evidence-based practice models relevant to safeguarding. 

Experience of working with victims, survivors and perpetrators of abuse. 

Working with statutory and non-statutory organisations in managing safeguarding allegations and assessing risk. 

You must have a relevant professional qualification or equivalent extensive experience (for example, social care or criminal justice), with current professional registration where applicable.

Self-starter able to lead and work independently and with experience of appropriate challenge to senior colleagues.

Overview / Purpose

The Research Events Coordinator plays a central role in the organisation's mission to build a world-leading Research Centre. This department coordinates, generates, and champions research activity across the organisation. The Research Events Coordinator contributes the Department's central mission to advance knowledge through the conception, creation, delivery, and dissemination of the highest quality research events aimed at the widest possible public and specialist audiences, undertaken through many diverse channels and through the organisation's local, national, and international research projects and partnerships.
The role holder provides efficient and effective administration and coordination of the organisation's annual programme of research events, organised by the Research Department in collaboration with research-active staff from across the institution. In coordination with other Research Department staff, in particular the Research Centre Manager, you are responsible for the overall planning, delivery, and archiving of all research events, both in-person and hybrid. Key Responsibility

Support the Research Centre Manager, Senior Research Lead, and Head of Research in:
Events Administration

• Attend meetings, take and circulate notes on event planning and preparation.
• Assist the Research Centre Manager, Senior Research Lead, Head of Research, and all other event-hosting staff with: coordinating Calls for Papers; liaising with speakers and collaborators; providing administration for all aspects of events planning.
• Book travel and accommodation for external speakers (and VIP attendees); attend any related invoices and ensure prompt payment of the same.

Research Centre Administration:

• Provide front-of-house support to the Research Centre, as necessary.

Hours and place of work

Terms, pay and benefits

About this key role

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to identify and assess young victims of violence, you will also provide support, advice and advocacy for children, young people and their families as they plan to be discharged from hospital back into the community.  You will produce support and risk management plans based on your assessments and also deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, to each client.  This will include providing practical guidance with social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, DIY work and cleaning.

We will also count on you to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, including community-based services such as police, children’s services and local authorities, while closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for children and young people that will identify agencies that can be used for ongoing support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future is also an essential aspect of the role.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with ‘high risk’, vulnerable children, young people and/or families
• Substantial experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and of using support plans
• Substantial experience of assessing the needs of CYP who are at risk of significant harm
• Proven record of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young people
