Responsibilities

About the role: 

• Working in collaboration with service leadership colleagues and staff team to identify meaningful opportunities for volunteers
• Supporting with leadership duties across both treatment service and recovery service
• Creating and supporting a positive culture of volunteering within the service

Operations Manager for Vulnerable Adults Service (VAS) & Intensive Community Rehabilitation Team (ICRT) Services – Mental Health

Our 4 Operations Manager roles oversee the 4 pillars of Birmingham Mind’s work, line managing the service managers for each service and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders. A typical week will see a varied mix of working with colleagues on the Senior Leadership Team, liaising with commissioners, and supporting service managers with developing services and key challenges. 

The VAS and ICRT services provide highly targeted and impactful support to people who access them, and we are looking for people with passion, who set high standards, love to see people thrive, and enjoy collaborating to deliver the best services for others. We pride ourselves on our engagement with service users in all areas, and our levels of lived experience in staff across the organisation, so any personal lived experience is a plus. 

This role is responsible for the operational management of two services covering 3 contracts: 

• Vulnerable Adults Service (VAS): funded by Birmingham City Council and provides vital mental health support to the citizens of Birmingham in their own homes. The two contracts are Supported Housing for those in serious need, and the Lead Worker service for floating support in people’s homes. It is a well-established service, with a strong team delivering highly valued support. 

• Intensive Community Rehabilitation Team (ICRT): one of our newest services, it is co-located with clinical staff from Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust (BSMHT). ICRT is an alternative to inpatient rehabilitation, and the team provides highly flexible and adaptive support to service users, resulting in earlier and sustained recovery. The service is currently expanding, so this is an exciting time. 

More people than ever need our services, and there is always more demand than we can support, so there are always challenges and limits to resources. This is part of what makes the role exciting, as there is always room to create and evolve how services work to be most effective, and it means you will need to have resilience in your approach and be able to collaborate to solve problems. Livingstone House is a 24 hour staffed 92 bed mix gender hostel, which provides short term supported housing for single homeless vulnerable people with Low to Medium support needs. Look ahead provides the support function and Riverside provides the housing management and night concierge. The Service provides on average 5 hours of weekly support to customers who reside in the hostel with the aim to provide them with the tools to move on within the community and live independently. On occasions, we may need support within our scattered sites based in Brent.

The Shift pattern of this role consist: 8am -4pm and 1.30pm - 9pm. Over a 7 day rota with 2 days off with weekend working

We are looking to recruit a facilities and office coordinator to provide a high-quality service for the Centre. This is an exciting role in our facilities team that will support the smooth running of the building, including maintaining kitchen supplies, issuing building access passes, supporting with the administration of the planned maintenance cycle and with building maintenance requests.

With your warm, friendly, professional manner, you will provide exemplary office management, from accepting regular deliveries and post for our hostel residents and services, to ensuring we have all the right supplies in the right place.  You’ll be a strong help to the Facilities Manager, providing top-notch administrative support to maintain our requirements under health and safety, and hands-on help when needed around the building.

Bringing your experience of office management and willingness and enthusiasm to support with maintenance tasks, you will proactively seek to continually improve yourself and the role, championing a culture of service excellence, as well as taking ownership and accountability of your workload.
