About the role

The Senior Case Worker will work as part of the SPOT Navigator team based alongside the Southwark SPOT Street Outreach team. The aim is to support a known cohort of clients who are stuck within the cycles of homeless and ill-health and have not been able to sustain a stable life outside of this.

This will be achieved through strength-based assessment, using creative engagement techniques and co-producing action plans aimed at linking clients with services and community groups. Your work will improve health outcomes for clients and promote harm reduction by working alongside specialist partner agencies. You will be working with clients on the streets in an outreach capacity or in various types of accommodation.

In this role you will:

• Work in partnership with local authorities, accommodation services, statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that clients transition away from the streets and into the appropriate accommodation with the correct support in place.
• Manage a caseload of clients experiencing multiple disadvantage who may not have stayed in stable accommodation for long periods of time.
• Have a great opportunity to assist people to change their lives meaningfully for the better.

In this non-shift role, you will work mainly within normal office hours Monday – Friday, however, on occasion you may be asked to work flexibly and conduct early or late shifts starting at 6am or ending at 3am. For this role staff can claim an additional 20% pay premium for hours worked between 8pm and 8am Monday to Friday, and all hours worked on Saturday and Sunday.

The Night Shelter Manager is responsible for the following:

• The day-to-day operation and management of nights shelters in West and Southwest London. Maintaining a friendly, supportive environment and cultivating positive relationships with guests, colleagues and volunteers.
• Welcoming and inducting new guests into the shelter by explaining the shelter policies.
• Supporting volunteer teams at each venue to ensure the smooth running of the project and developing good communication with the Volunteer Co-ordinators.
• Diffusing difficult or dangerous situations and summon assistance when necessary. Training will be provided.
• Ensuring cleaning protocols are implemented by all staff, guests and volunteers.
• Maintaining guest attendance records and shift reports on our iPad-based In-From client relationship platform.

Essential

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) was set up in 2018 to be the major philanthropic re-granter scaling up legal action globally to tackle the climate and the biodiversity crises.

We work as movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, using the law in pursuit of three interconnected system-level goals:

• Reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to protect the climate
• Safeguarding nature
• Delivering climate and environmental justice

We pursue these goals not just by supporting legal action directly. We believe in growing the strength of the climate and biodiversity legal movement globally, and in enabling people and movements to use legal action to shift narratives.

As movement enablers, campaign strategists, and impact funders, we at FILE do not ourselves bring litigation. As a regrantor, FILE is not an endowed foundation, but rather we engage in fundraising to secure resources to support our partners globally.

Location

FILE has offices in London and the Netherlands, and a small hub of staff in Australia. Otherwise, we look to employ relevant staff remotely in the regions where our partners are based.

We are advertising this role for candidates based (and with the right to work) in the UK. We will also consider applications from candidates based in other locations where able to do so.
