ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an enthusiastic Careers Adviser to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Careers Team. In this key position, you will work at our Harris Lower Academy Wilsden in Brent Borough, supporting students to make informed, ambitious and aspirational decisions about their futures.

You will be joining an experienced and knowledgeable team of advisers, from whom you can gain advice and support. Working closely with your colleagues, you will help shape and deliver a high-impact CEIAG programme.

Whether it’s further education, apprenticeships, traineeships or employment, you’ll play a vital role in guiding students towards the post-16 and post-18 pathways that best match their goals and aspirations. MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

As part of this role, you will:

• Collaborate with Careers Leads across academies to design and implement a high-impact careers education programme aligned with the latest statutory guidance, including the enhanced Gatsby Benchmarks and each academy’s improvement priorities
• Plan and deliver engaging careers assemblies that expand students’ awareness of post-16 and post-18 pathways, alongside other relevant career-related topics
• Provide impartial, tailored career guidance through one-to-one meetings and group sessions that empower students to make informed, realistic and adaptable decisions about their futures
• Accurately record all guidance interactions and agreed actions on Unifrog, ensuring student data is kept up to date and accessible
• Offer targeted support to students navigating post-16 and post-18 transitions, including referrals to specialist services for those with additional needs, such as SEND
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external agencies, networks, and partners to enrich the careers and higher education offer and maximise student outcomes
• Track, monitor and report on student aspirations to inform strategic planning and targeted interventions
• Engage parents and carers in the careers guidance process, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s journey, including attendance at parents’ evenings
• Facilitate meaningful employer encounters that inspire students and broaden their understanding of the world of work
• Attend key events such as results days and enrolment days to provide on-the-spot careers support and guidance
• Support colleagues across the team by sharing best practice, offering shadowing opportunities and contributing to a collaborative learning culture
• Actively contribute to Careers Adviser team meetings by sharing insights, experiences or resources that enhance practice and support team development
• Provide careers-related evidence and representation during Ofsted inspections, showcasing the strength and impact of the careers provision

BookTrust, the charity that champions the power of reading, is seeking a Head of Fundraising in a new senior role to oversee the strategic development and management of their voluntary income, to help them deliver their goals to shape a national reading culture.

BookTrust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, reaching over 1.3 million children and families across England, Wales and Northern Ireland each year and delivering evidence-informed programmes that make a measurable difference to children’s reading behaviours. Their work is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the chance to enjoy reading and all the lifelong benefits it brings. The Head of Fundraising will be responsible for stewarding an existing portfolio of major statutory and voluntary funders, and managing BookTrust’s high value and individual giving portfolio. At the Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR), we work with charities, foundations and public agencies to strengthen UK communities through action research. We champion the role and contribution of the voluntary sector. We listen, learn and share what helps – and what gets in the way – so that funders and decision-makers can put charity voice at the heart of change.

As Interim Director of Research, you will lead a motivated and talented team of research staff and freelance research associates. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing a strategic and balanced research portfolio, including leadership of project design and new work development.

You will work closely with the Director of IVAR and both the Deputy Director of Research and Director of Communications to support quality assurance, supervise specific projects, and ensure that IVAR meets its ethical standards. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will also support and feed in on all people matters and contribute to embedding an inclusive and equitable approach and internal culture. You will have a proven track record at the senior leadership team level and in line management, experienced at moving between strategic and operational priorities, and be confident to lead a research team in a collaborative and developmental way. 

You will have strong experience of research design, bid writing and generation of new work. You will be skilled in qualitative and action research, including significant experience of facilitating complex processes and discussions.

It is essential that you have experience of the voluntary sector and working with funders.

The Young Carers Lead will take responsibility for coordinating and delivering our young carers programme. This includes running two weekly sessions – one for ages 5–10 and another for ages 11–18 – with the support of our skilled sessional staff and colleagues.

The role involves a mix of face-to-face and online sessions, designed to meet the needs of young carers and to help us deliver on our strategic objectives:

• Enhancing life outside of caring: organising engaging weekly activities where young people can connect, have fun, and build friendships - from creative workshops and games nights to social activities - alongside occasional special events like beach outings, and our annual Christmas party.

• Supporting potential: tackling the educational inequalities faced by young carers, including university visits and skills-based workshops.

• Promoting health and wellbeing: working with partners to provide sports, fitness and mindfulness activities.

• Recognising and celebrating young carers: coordinating awareness-raising initiatives in schools, GP surgeries and the wider community, while celebrating national young carers events.

Safeguarding responsibilities of the post holder include:

• Creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment in all sessions.

• Maintaining professional boundaries and appropriate relationships with young people.

• Recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, following organisational policy and procedure.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver two high-quality weekly sessions for young carers (5–10s and 11–18s).

• Design engaging activities using creativity, organisational skills, and external partners where appropriate.

• Work with sessional staff and colleagues to ensure sessions are inclusive, safe, and responsive to young carers’ needs.

• Coordinate trips, special events, and awareness-raising activities.

• Support monitoring and evaluation of the service, ensuring activities meet agreed outcomes.

• Advocate for young carers’ voices to be heard in schools, health settings, and the wider community.

Essential

• Experience of delivering youth work sessions which have successfully engaged young people.

• Experience of designing rich and varied programmes of work that contribute towards the achievement of specific outcomes.

Our Youth and Play Practitioners will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families team, working as a core team of practitioners to ensure the smooth running of our programmes and services. About the role

In this role, you'll play a key part in upskilling practitioners who support victims and witnesses of crime, helping them develop the soft skills needed to make a meaningful impact. ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are looking to appoint a new SEND Consultant to our central team of subject specialists. We want to hear from experienced teachers who have gained experience in a middle leadership role, and who have a track record of raising achievement within a department. The role of SEND Consultant is an exciting post providing enormous scope for a talented and creative practitioner to work collaboratively across a group of academies.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

The role will be multi-faceted and involve coaching and mentoring, sharing of best practice, developing robust improvement strategies, assisting Harris academies in recruitment and selection, helping to establish new departments or lead rapid recovery where required. Our central team consultants work strategically with Principals, senior leadership teams and support academy departments to improve standards and the outcomes for our students.

We are looking for an experienced teacher with a deep passion for SEND. Our consultant roles are suitable for those with management experience (ideally but not necessarily at Head of Department level or alternatively be an aspirant Leading Practitioner). The post would suit an ambitious middle leader looking either to broaden their expertise and responsibilities, or who may be considering a future leadership pathway to their first headship. Although based at the Harris Federation offices close to East Croydon Station (with fast access to central London and the M25), the role will mostly be located within the academies.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The post work suit an ambitious middle leaders with at least three years' SEND teaching experience and two years in a management role such as SENDCo or Co-SENDCo. A thorough understanding of the needs of students with SEND and Quality First Teaching is essential.
