Senior Research Advisor
We’re looking for a credible, strategic, and impact-driven individual to join the organisation at a pivotal moment for stroke research and improvement, in this remote working role.
Position: CE374 Senior Research Advisor
Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide. However, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)
Salary: Circa £60,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience (inner London weighting £3,950 per annum or outer London weighting £2,275 per annum may be applied in accordance with where you live)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: This is a 12 month fixed-term contract.

The Role
Reporting to the Associate Director of Systems Engagement, the Senior Research Advisor will take the lead in translating the Association’s refreshed research strategy into action, shaping its implementation plan and designing the governance and delivery mechanisms needed to ensure its success. This includes evolving funding schemes, aligning internal systems and team capabilities, and scoping the future role in real-time quality improvement and implementation science.
This is a rare opportunity to influence a future-facing research and improvement agenda in a leading UK health charity. The Senior Research Advisor will act as a senior advisor and thought partner to the leadership team, bringing expertise in applied research, translational science, and funding strategy. You will play a central role in shaping credibility and influence as a system leader, ensuring the Association drives forward a culture of testing, learning, and scaling what works.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of a robust implementation plan for the Association’s refreshed research strategy, including the structures, processes, and partnerships needed for successful delivery.
- Redesigning funding schemes to support translational research, implementation, and real-world outcomes.
- Strengthening research governance and embedding QI and research into organisational strategy.
- Providing senior-level insight and support for the research and health systems insight and engagement teams.
- Positioning the Association as a visible and credible actor in stroke research and improvement.
About You
You will have:
- A PhD and significant senior-level experience in health research leadership.
- Proven ability to develop research strategies and funding mechanisms that accelerate translation and implementation.
- Strong system leadership credentials, with a track record of influencing across sectors.
- Deep knowledge of stroke, cardiovascular disease or neuroscience.
- A confident and flexible approach to agile working, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.

The Foundation for International Law for the Environment (FILE) is a not-for-profit philanthropic organisation working to accelerate legal action on climate change.

Role overview
This is an exciting opportunity to take a senior role in FILE’s high-performing fundraising team and secure support from some of the world’s leading foundations working in climate.
FILE is seeking an ambitious and experienced Philanthropic Partnerships Lead to lead relationships with significant funders and play a critical role in shaping and advancing FILE’s ambitious fundraising strategy. The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will take the lead across a portfolio of existing donors and seek new funding opportunities from major philanthropic foundations.
The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will work closely with the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships and FILE leadership to shape fundraising and donor stewardship strategies and drive fundraising success. They will be comfortable operating at the most senior level externally to devise and deliver excellent donor experiences, and adept at navigating complex internal environments.

Key Responsibilities will include:
Donor relationship management and stewardship
The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will lead on several significant funder relationships, co-ordinating internally with FILE Leadership, the Head of Philanthropic Parnterships and strategic experts to devise and deliver excellent stewardship and donor experiences.
This will include:
- Setting donor strategy and creating and managing bespoke donor stewardship plans and communications
- Leading externally in face-to-face and virtual meetings, events and engagements and managing complex donor relationships across multiple stakeholders and workstreams
- Leading on key relationship touchpoints including performance and strategy reviews
- Liaising across internal cross-functional teams to plan and co-ordinate donor engagement at multiple levels

Cultivating new funder relationships
Securing new support is a critical organisational priority and the candidate will have the opportunity to forge new relationships with major funders.
Alongside FILE leadership and the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships, they will be responsible for identifying and progressing new pipeline opportunities and become the fundraising lead for specific thematic areas and initiatives.
This will include:
- Devising and delivering bespoke cultivation strategies for key donor prospects
- Devising new funding propositions and strategies for high-priority areas and new strategic initiatives
- Working with FILE leadership and strategy leads to delivering engaging cultivation, including through meetings, calls and written materials
- Actively progressing opportunities through the fundraising pipeline and leading on proposal development for target opportunities
Providing strategic support to the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships and leading cross-organisational projects and initiatives
The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will provide strategic counsel to the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships to develop and implement the wider fundraising strategy and take the lead on strategic initiatives such as:
- Designing and implementing an approach to communications planning and delivery, including through the creation and management of key communications content
- Designing, scoping and initiating new donor engagement products and experiences for most senior stakeholders

Key Competencies and Person Specifications
- The ideal candidate will be a senior relationship and stakeholder manager with demonstrable experience working in philanthropy, high-value funding or other senior relationship management roles.
- They will have extensive experience working in complex cross-functional roles with excellent influencing skills and strategic acumen.
- They will have experience in securing and managing 7 figure funding relationships and be confident working at the most senior level externally.
- They will have significant knowledge and experience in the foundation/ philanthropy sector, ideally in the climate or environmental space.
- The candidate will thrive in fast-paced environments, and be adept at managing complex and multi-level relationships both internally and externally.
- They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be confident in leading on compelling proposals and pitches, turning complex and technical information into engaging donor content and experiences.
- The candidate will be highly organized, demonstrate strong project management skills and be comfortable balancing a varied and demanding workload.

The Role
We have a rewarding opportunity for a School Impact Officer to train, support and develop volunteers and monitor the programme through effective administration, data management and to build a deep partnership between the school and the charity.
The Impact Officer is based predominantly in a school and is the primary link between the partner schools and the programme and is the enabler of the programme delivery. You will support a team of volunteer mentors, who support school activities by coordinating, managing and evaluating the programme.

The Social Care IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process, specialising in working with women whose families are involved with Family Children Services and risk to children is a factor. You will work to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. This role is part advocacy, part training/education and project work to improve response to victim/survivors experiencing domestic abuse. You will be embedded in the local authority Family Children Services team, working with Social Care professionals to ensure they adopt a trauma informed approach, can recognise the dynamics of domestic abuse and are providing more holistic support. You will be the domestic abuse subject matter expert on site, upskilling fellow professionals and acting as a point of contact for any clients experiencing domestic abuse and support requirements from Family Children Services.
The Social Care project was established in 2021 and has been working in partnership with Hammersmith and Fulham Family Children Services, so the IDVAs will inherit strong working relationships and a commitment from all parties to offering more trauma-informed services. The borough has a focus on prioritising and developing good DA work in social care and this is an opportunity to be a major player in institutional change, ensuring that women accessing Family Children services for their children have an improved experience and that the local authorities are leading the way for all survivors engaging with their services.

We work within a coordinated partnership response to domestic violence to provide independent domestic violence advocacy and support for women, children and young people and women’s community services for women who are involved in the criminal justice system, in anti-social behaviour or are at risk of breaking the law.
About You:
You will have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse in various areas of need, with particular knowledge on children safeguarding/legislation. As an experienced domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence, of supporting women with child safeguarding, needs, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.
To be successful as the Social Care IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:
- You will establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with housing services and partner agencies.Provide high-quality crisis intervention, information, advocacy, and proactive support to women referred to the service, in respect to risk management and safety planning, criminal and civil remedies, housing, health, welfare rights, and children’s legislation.
