EnhanceAble is a medium-sized charity in the social care sector. We have a turn over of circa. £2 million per annum. We have a Board of Trustees, and a Senior Management Team (SMT) consisting of our Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive, Head of Finance and HR Manager.
As well as fulfilling the duties of a Trustee, the Treasurer maintains an overview of EnhanceAble’s financial affairs. The Treasurer ensures that effective and appropriate financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and, along with the Head of Finance, reports to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

Working with the Head of Finance on the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees.

Ensuring, at a board level, that proper accounting records are kept, and that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.

Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of the charity.

Overseeing financial controls and adherence to systems, regularly liaising with the Chief Executive and Head of Finance.

Job Title: Trustee (3 roles) – with one or more areas of core expertise

LEVEL OF COMMITMENT
All trustees are required to attend quarterly evening and one full day Board meetings. Board meetings usually take place at the Baca main office, Loughborough, Leicestershire. As appropriate, meetings could also take place virtually.
In addition to reading papers and preparing for meetings/conference calls, Trustees may be called upon for specific advice if they have particular expertise in a given area.
According to their individual skills and experience, Trustees may also be invited to serve on Baca’s Finance or Staff & Young People Wellbeing Committees or on ad-hoc Working Groups. Committees meet quarterly, usually in advance of Board meetings.

Summary of the Role: As a Trustee, you'll be responsible for setting strategic aims, objectives, and direction. You'll ensure YSS achieves its objectives, represents stakeholders' interests, and act as an ambassador for the charity.

Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity and membership association for limbless serving and ex-service men and women and their dependants.
We help all wounded servicemen and women who have lost limbs, the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support.
We are looking for Volunteers to help the Fundraising Team at in person fundraising and awareness raising events throughout the UK. We’re a small and friendly team, operating at a regional and national level. We organise Blesma events and collections, attend third party events and support fundraisers doing their own events.

How much time do you need to give?
We would expect trustees to commit to at least five days each year for Board meetings, with additional time is also required for reading papers and other communication, as well as completion of mandatory Trustees training modules annually and triennially.
We hold Board meetings at least four times a year (plus the Annual General Meeting) to discuss and make decisions concerning the business of the organisation. The meetings alternate between virtual and in-person meetings in central London, and are usually held between 6-8pm.
The Finance and General Purposes Committee meets virtually four times a year during office hours.
All Trustees will receive a thorough in-depth induction upon appointment, followed by regular skills audits and appraisals.

About CARAS :
Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a registered charity that has been supporting refugees and asylum-seekers since 2002 empowering them to integrate and engage in the local community.
Arriving as an asylum seeker/refugee can be a disempowering experience. Difficulties with language, accessing services and overcoming prejudice are ever-present. As an organisation we are committed to work alongside refugees to overcome those challenges, and to help them build their lives.
We offer group support and targeted support work. We offer a range of activities including: ESOL classes; social and recreational activities such as youth club, drama, trips and family activities; educational support for young people; and casework and advocacy support.

About the Role:
CARAS offers advocacy casework integrated into all of its projects, ensuring that people who attend our groups can access support to address issues in a friendly and timely manner. A key part of the casework service is to help connect people to resources and activities that they need.
A key areas of need is digital access, either by smart phone or laptop.
People living in asylum accommodation receive £9/week making saving for items impossible.
Whilst many activities have returned to face-to-face delivery many have stayed online, not having a laptop impedes people’s ability to join English classes and social activities. People attending college face difficulties in completing college work without access to computers in the evenings, access to a laptop means people are able to take greater control over their independent learning. Smart phones make a huge difference in people’s ability to have contact with family and community across the world.
To meet this need we have built a partnership with a grant giving organisation, Acts435, to support people to get personal laptops.
We are able to refer 5 people at a time for grants to buy new laptops/phones. Once the grant money is received we purchase the devices for community members to collect.
We are looking for a volunteer to do these referrals each month and support people to purchase and receive their laptops and phones. This is an extremely rewarding role, interacting with lots of the CARAS community members and making a very tangible positive impact on people’s lives.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- contacting community members who are on our waiting lists by phone to explain the scheme to them
- complete grant applications with community members
- monitoring the grant platform to see when grants have been made
- purchasing laptops online and liaising with community members to arrange collection
- completing monitoring forms with community members once grants are recieved and uploading to grant platform
- recording all referrals and work done on our case management system (lamplight)

The Bridge Project is a well-established Bradford based charity with over 35 years’ experience delivering services and projects addressing a range of issues such as substance misuse, risk taking behaviours, relationships, housing, physical/mental health, and employment. These are a mixture of in-person meetings in Bradford and zoom meetings. Meetings are currently held in the evening. Trustees are also encouraged to visit our premises to meet with the staff team and meet the people we support.

Why we need your help
Coping with bereavement involves painful emotions, coming to terms with loss and making adjustments in life. Many people find it a great comfort to have someone to talk to about how they are feeling during this difficult time.
We are looking for volunteers to provide emotional support over the phone to adults who have been bereaved by a terminal illness. This role will be supporting individuals who have made contact with us through our national telephone Support Line. You will be helping them to explore their feelings and adapt to life post-bereavement. Training, support and supervision will be provided.
What we need you to do
Your role will include the following tasks:
- Provide short-term emotional support over the phone to matched clients for up to 6, 45-minute, sessions (normally 1 or 2 at any given time)
- Actively listen to clients and explore their feelings around their loss with empathy and sensitivity
- Direct clients to relevant sources of information and support as needed
- Complete necessary documentation as required by the service (e.g. Confidential Working Agreement) and pass on appropriate service information to your supervising manager
- Participate in one-to-one and or group supervision with an assigned contact on a regular basis (around once a month, by phone or skype)
- Undertake both initial and ongoing training in line with the role, some of which will be face-to-face, some independent study. This includes attending a two-day (likely weekend) training programme.
What skills or experience do you need?
- Ability to provide emotional support without judgement and within boundaries
- Ability to deal sensitively with bereaved people and have an awareness of their individual needs
- Patience, empathy and emotional stability
- Commitment and reliability – able to keep to appointments and volunteer for the duration of a client match
- An understanding of the importance of safeguarding and maintaining client confidentiality
- Willingness to learn and undertake required training and participate in support supervision
- Basic IT skills and the ability, or willingness to learn, to use the calling system.
- Welsh speaking is desirable
Working requirements
- A quiet and confidential space for working, away from distraction or interruption
- Access to a smartphone, laptop or desktop computer
- Available at the same time every week for up to 6 sessions
- Willingness and ability to travel within the UK once or twice a year for training and support – training will require a weekend, (overnight stay depending on location). Expenses will be reimbursed.

What will you be doing?

Main Duties:
