Age UK is currently looking to hire a Poverty, Income and Work Policy Manager within our Influencing division on a permanent basis.

This role has responsibility for developing Age UK's work in a variety of domains focussed on reducing poverty in later life for older people. A particular focus will be State Pensions, Social Security Benefits and the UK labour market for older people.

As a Policy Manager you will analyse public policy to make recommendations to central government, regulators and professional bodies whilst collaborating with our wider influencing teams to ensure we help older people become more financially secure in future.

This exciting opportunity would suit someone with a good understanding of the policy making system and strong proficiency in verbal and written communication.

This position offers hybrid working between home and our central London office. Currently our Policy team attend the office weekly on Wednesday's.

Additional Information

Battersea’s Finance and Corporate Resources directorate is responsible for leading, developing, managing, and supporting the financial, technological, infrastructure and compliance services across Battersea. We are looking for a Systems Accountant to join our Finance Team. This person will manage and administer Battersea’s key finance system, Oracle NetSuite, and support with broader process improvement projects across the function. One in three students leave school each year without a pass in GCSE English and maths - this rises to over one in two for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Without GCSEs in English and maths, these young people are significantly more likely to drop out of education and are locked out of key professions, apprenticeships, and university courses.

Get Further exists to change this. Our charity has an award-winning tuition programme that helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds in further education to pass GCSEs in English or maths. We place highly qualified, specialist English and maths tutors in further education, who deliver a bespoke curriculum that builds confidence and skills in these core subjects.

THE ROLE

The Senior Data and Insights Officer will help us to demonstrate the importance of our tuition for young people and adults who are undertaking these foundational qualifications.

You will have strong attention-to-detail and will make sure our data is relevant, accurate and confidential. You will be skilled in data analysis and interpretation: able to draw out insights from data and be confident in writing – and communicating – impact for a variety of purposes and audiences. 

As the Senior Data and Insights Officer you will work with the Director of Impact, within our Quality and Impact Team to:

Database Usage and Reporting  

• Support our Salesforce Lead in creating reports and dashboards, ensuring all data is relevant, accurate and secure.
• Use our database management system to generate reports and data analysis for the Senior Leadership Team, and other internal colleagues, to support marketing campaigns, fundraising campaigns, statutory information requests and organisational insight.
• Prepare reports for college partners, funders, and the Board, which set out our data, findings and impact, clearly and accurately. 
• • Confidently write about insights and findings from our data, generating learnings and recommendations for the organisation and other stakeholders.

Internal and External Evaluations

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Role purpose

Compass is a service designed to support adults (18 years and over) in H&F and Hounslow. The service provides support with welfare benefits, debt, housing and well-being/peer support groups/workshops.

The role of the Information and Advice Worker will be to provide advice, guidance and customer representation to H&F and Hounslow residents living with mental health problems. Advice issues may include, housing, benefits, council tax, debt, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will deliver support to enquirers and manage a caseload of individuals as agreed with the project manager. In addition to advice casework, the Advice Worker will also be expected to assist onboarding referrals to the service when needed.

The successful candidate will be required to work alongside other caseworkers and volunteers supporting on the project and report to the project manager.

The Advice Worker will be required to work within the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS), and adhere to Mind’s policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.  

Place of work

The Advice Worker will be required to work both from home and the Ealing, H&F and Hounslow office when necessary, alongside work in the community.

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our Active Ageing Clubs and our Be-a-friend volunteer scheme. In this role, you will work with young people 1-1, holding small caseloads, as well as working with young people in groups and delivering employment or education-focussed sessions on a regular basis.

As part of our service, we also aim to deliver a weekly group conversation class for young people looking to improve their spoken English, many of whom are young refugees and asylum seekers. While you will work with all young people in the service and support regularly with our day centre delivery, this role will focus on expanding our JET service to young refugees and asylum seekers, developing specialist networks and partnerships, and pathways to appropriate opportunities.

The People Business Partner will work closely with key stakeholders across the charity to provide advice, support and guidance, developing our workforce to enable delivery of strategic goals and to positively impact people with arthritis. It’s about:

• building key relationships, and supporting and advising on all people-related activities.

About you

If your knowledge, skills and experience include the following then we’d love to hear from you:

• Qualified to CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
• Experience of supporting organisational change.
• Significant generalist HR experience, including managing complex employee relations cases.
• Strong and effective communicator, with the ability to engage stakeholders.
• A flexible, pragmatic and creative approach, redefining problems in light of information gathered or changes of context.
• Evidence of effectively working with ambiguity and comfortable working at pace.
• Strong advising and coaching skills, enabling managers to develop their knowledge, confidence and capability in managing people whilst taking a balanced approach to risk and reputation.

*As a hybrid worker the expectation is that you will spend around 40% of your working time in our office spaces or working in community settings. The Welfare Adviser will provide high quality specialist welfare benefits and housing advice, information and guidance to our service users, referring them internally and externally for additional advocacy and support as required, following organisational policies and procedures, and ensuring fulfilment of regulatory compliance with our Advice Quality Standard (AQS) accreditation, meeting the standards of quality in the delivery of advice services as required. The post-holder will work closely and collaboratively with other advisers, staff team members, interns, trainees, and volunteers as relevant, providing face-to-face advice, by telephone or other digital media.

Main accountabilities​

1. To provide LAH service users with high quality free specialist welfare benefits advice and guidance on income maximisation, that is accurate, effective, and tailored to their particular needs and circumstances.
2. Manage an adequate caseload of enquiries from LAH service users in a condition of extreme financial need, including those who are homeless  (or on the brink of homelessness).
3. To contribute to the development of LAH Advice Programme, which aims to provide frontline, one-to-one advice and casework in key areas of need for the community, including welfare entitlements, housing, employment and immigration.
