Palliative care for children aged 0–18 is delivered at Acorns’ hospices in Birmingham (serving Birmingham and Warwickshire), Worcester (serving Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire), and Walsall (serving the Black Country and parts of Staffordshire and Shropshire), as well as in family homes and other community settings. We’re looking for an experienced Trusts fundraiser to provide maternity cover and hit the ground running. You’ll take on a robust pipeline and inherit relationships from a portfolio that includes multi-year partnerships with major funders such as Children in Need and John Martins. 

Working closely with a highly experienced and supportive peer, you’ll enjoy a shared, balanced portfolio and the space to focus on great fundraising. About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

About the role

1. IT Coordination

The Benefits Service within South East London Mind is a well-established offer of support to clients who need to access welfare benefits they are entitled to receive. The service currently provides casework support for people who need to challenge benefits decisions across the three boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich. There is also a cross-area team of volunteers who assist with form filling and all aspects of the assessment process.

We are looking for a Benefits Service Manager with significant experience of working within welfare benefits. You will have a good understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems and the links with welfare issues. You will take responsibility for the quality of support the team deliver to ensure it is robust and accountable. We hope to be able to extend our offer of support in the future so it will be important you have an interest in developing the service.

Applicants should have previous experience of thinking strategically to develop a service and of managing a team to deliver the support. An ability to work independently but collaboratively, to be proactive and show initiative is essential for this role.  

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

International Events Manager

Position Objective:

To help manage and coordinate PETA and PETA entities’ Fundraising Events Department

£34,000 - £38,000

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist the Assistant Director and Director, International Fundraising, with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fundraising Events Department

• Plan, organise, manage, and attend fundraising events held by PETA and PETA entities

• Exercise a lead role in overseeing aspects of PETA and PETA entity fundraising events, both in-person and virtual

• Ensure that event projects remain on schedule and deadlines are met

• Develop relations with event vendors and negotiate contracts and costs to ensure the best possible value

• Analyse data and evaluate events in order to implement strategy to improve event effectiveness

• Oversee the production of invitations, mailings, acknowledgement letters, awards, and other event-related materials

• Oversee the coordination of presentation material, including the creation of scripts and PowerPoint presentations

• Oversee the solicitation of donations and coordinate the production of gift bag materials

• Establish and maintain good communication and relationships with PETA donors and individuals at all levels of PETA and PETA entities

• Manage and track event RSVPs using PETA entities' donor databases and other tracking documents

• Manage event inventory and the shipping, receiving, and storage of event supplies

• Recruit and manage volunteers for events

• Collect and maintain event data, including costs, revenue, and confidential donor information

• Assist the department director and associate director in taking a lead role in the training of new hires in all event planning and departmental aspects

• Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and experience:

• Demonstrable event planning experience

• Proven experience with data entry and database maintenance systems

• Proficiency with a variety of Microsoft Office programs

• Proven exceptional oral and written communication and negotiation skills

• Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

• Proven ability to establish priorities, organise tasks, work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines

Spark Inside runs coaching programmes in prisons across London and the South East, to encourage rehabilitation and reduce reoffending. 

We are one of the first organisations to take life coaching to people living and working in prison and to use systems coaching to bring together staff and prisoners in UK prisons. Our expert coaches are qualified and trained professionals. To achieve our ambitious strategy, Spark Inside is seeking a Communications Manager to help raise the charity’s public profile, build influence with policymakers, attract funders and commissioners, and ensure the lived experience of young people in the justice system shapes our messaging, campaigns and strategy.

You will work with the Head of Communications and Advocacy to deliver a programme of compelling external communications activities through digital, print, press and events in order to increase Spark Inside’s visibility and ensure our key messages are wide-reaching and impactful.

You will report to the Head of Communications & Advocacy and work closely alongside our Participation and Engagement Manager and Policy Lead, with line management responsibility for a part-time Communications Officer. You will also work with a range of external freelancers on design, film and print. You will build and maintain good relationships with colleagues across the whole Spark Inside team, offering support and advice as well as drawing on their expertise and insights to make our communications impactful and engaging.

While target-driven, you will have a supportive style and work in a highly collaborative way with colleagues across the organisation.

Job Title: Service Manager

Location: Royal Borough Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC)

Salary: £38,700

• Ability to work at pace, using initiative, making decisions, and proactiveness in your approach
