We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fundraising Officer to join the fundraising team at the Batten Disease Family Association CIO (BDFA).

The BDFA, founded in 1998 is the only patient organisation in the UK for families affected by Batten disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition that affects children and young adults. The BDFA offers informed guidance and support to families and the professionals who work with them, as well as actively raising awareness, and promoting research into the management of Batten disease to improve patient care pathways and ultimately find a cure.

This is an exciting time to join the charity, which has grown to offer additional support services for families affected by Batten disease and to implementing a long-term strategy to develop its advocacy, education and research capabilities. We’re looking for an individual who has some experience in fundraising, particularly leading on all aspects of community fundraising, developing and nurturing relationships with volunteer fundraising groups and individual supporters. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of our CEO to develop community fundraising maximising the funds raised by volunteer fundraisers and developing supporter engagement. The successful candidate will also work alongside our Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Officer to support our Trusts and Foundations income generation.

The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:

- Experience in all aspects of community fundraising including events, assisting fundraisers to develop imaginative fundraising ideas and inspiring new supporters to raise funds whilst maintaining relationships with existing supporters

- Experience in building and sustaining long-term relationships with fundraising groups and individual supporters

- Experience in managing effective and creative fundraising communications on social media and the website

- Ability to contribute to the overall Trusts and Foundations income stream, including proactively researching and identifying grant funding opportunities 

- Ability to lead on creative fundraising campaigns around key events such as Batten disease awareness day and Christmas

The Information & Advice Adviser is a vital role that works directly with older people who come to the service seeking information and advice on pension age benefits.

Last year the service worked to support over 800 older adults with information and advice on benefits, health, housing and care, and assisted the uptake of nearly £600,000 of previously unclaimed benefits.

We are seeking a Community Development Officer to lead a major in-progress project improving recognition, support, and care for people with smell and taste disorders at a local level across England. 

This three-year, volunteer-led programme, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund has achieved significant success in its first eighteen months. We are now recruiting a new postholder to take this strong foundation forward through the next phase of delivery. 

Over the past eighteen months, we have recruited and established a thriving network of volunteers and local groups across England. This momentum is expected to continue. You will also play a key role in administering and strengthening Kamara’s internal IT security and information management systems, working closely with the leadership team to ensure robust, resilient, and practical systems that align with our organisational goals.

We are looking for a technically skilled and people-centered digital security professional who combines deep technical expertise with excellent communication and facilitation skills. You will have a track record of providing pragmatic, context-sensitive digital security guidance to organisations operating across diverse budgets, capacities, and geographies. Key Responsibilities 

Project Design and Delivery 

- Design and deliver digital and information security assessments, management plans and protocols for a range of partner organisations

- Represent Kamara in meetings with partners 

Team and Curriculum Development 

- Support a small team of digital security specialists, reviewing and contributing to their learning and development

- Stay informed about emerging threats, technologies and best practices, using insights to strengthen our digital security offering 

Internal Digital Security and IT systems

- Design and deliver digital security training sessions for staff, as required. 

Candidate Profile 

Essential: 

- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in IT and digital security roles - Experience providing direct digital security support and training, ideally to social justice or civil society organisations, and/or in higher-risk contexts - Excellent communication, facilitation and cross-cultural collaboration skills - Hands-on experience managing Windows/Linux/or macOS infrastructure and cloud-based environments (Azure, Google, Amazon) 

- Strong understanding of vulnerability assessment, mitigation, and hardening techniques 

- A pragmatic approach to digital security, with the ability to translate complex concepts into accessible, actionable guidance 

- Strategic view and experience managing digital and information security risks, including the intersection between information security and legal and regulatory frameworks 

- Fluency in English (both written and spoken) and ability to work within Western Hemisphere timezones

About the role

What You’ll Be Doing

• Collaborating across the Charity and the hospital to identify opportunities where patient and supporter stories can amplify fundraising and awareness.
• Interviewing patients, families, and supporters to create powerful stories for fundraising materials, campaigns, and digital platforms.

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll be part of a friendly, collaborative team that delivers high-quality training, conferences, and events for mental health professionals. You’ll play a key part in coordinating sessions, supporting trainers and participants, and keeping our operations running smoothly so that every event feels seamless and well organised

• You’ll coordinate and schedule training, conferences and events (online, in-person and hybrid), liaising with internal colleagues and external partners to ensure smooth delivery.
• You’ll support delivery days by facilitating sessions, handling AV/IT setup, and assisting with any troubleshooting needed during the event.
• As the Training Conferences and Events Officer, you’ll act as the administrative lead for allocated programmes, managing systems, processing bookings and applications, sending invoices, monitoring payments, and ensuring attendee viability.
• You will provide high-quality administrative support to trainers and speakers, including preparing documents, arranging travel within budget, offering Zoom guidance, and organising team meetings with agendas and minutes.
• As the Training Conferences and Events Officer, you’ll maintain accurate data across our systems, manage a high volume of email and phone enquiries, and nurture strong relationships with trainers, supervisors and commissioners to help plan and deliver programmes effectively

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, people-centred environment, bringing strong organisation, calm under pressure, and proven experience in coordinating training or events while delivering an excellent experience for everyone involved.

• Experience coordinating projects or events in a busy, deadline-driven environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities confidently.
• Strong administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records, managing databases, and setting up efficient systems.
• Clear, professional communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues at all levels as well as external partners, trainers and participants.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative, whilst also collaborating well as part of a supportive team.

Key details

Hours: Part-time (17.5hrs) ideally Monday to Friday 09:00 - 12:30, flexibility to support training, conferences and events outside of these hours required

Salary: £31,366 per annum FTE, plus 6% contributory pension scheme

Location: Hybrid (a mixture of home/onsite working): staff are working onsite for at least 20% of their working hours, either at our London site (4-8 Rodney Street, London N1 9JH) or our Northern Hub (Huckletree, The Express Building, 9 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester M4 5AD).

TAG Youth Club, an award-winning charity and a youth club open to children, young people and young adults, whatever their disability. We work hard to accommodate anyone who wants to join and particularly those who have restricted opportunities elsewhere.  We respond to the needs of the communities we serve and cater for those between the ages of 8 – 25 years. 

TAG started almost 25 years ago, as a group of parents who got together to create an inclusive space for their disabled young people to socialise.  From those humble beginnings TAG has now grown to over 250 members and supports over 750 family members.The club now makes many activities available to young disabled people that would not ordinarily be available to them (such as climbing, skiing, archery, parkour, scootering and skateboarding). Our activities provide members with opportunities to meet new people, make friends, learn social and life skills, and to thrive and grow in confidence and independence.

This exciting new part time role has been created to support the CEO and Head of Operations, providing administrative support in a wide variety of areas including finance, fundraising, office systems and management, premises, promotion, marketing and communications. 

Financial administration includes input and reconciliation of all financial data and ensures efficient reporting, analysis and measurement of data and financial information against set timescales, targets and objectives. H/she will support annual budget preparation and will contribute to the Annual Report.

H/she will track funding opportunities, deadlines and bid submissions and will draft/edit grant applications.  They will maintain the funding database and track Award deadlines and write Award entries.

Office and systems management will include efficient record keeping and databases, maintain IT equipment and oversee insurance and service contracts.  They will also maintain TAG's website and social media platforms and support/represent TAG at external events.  They wil manage DBS documentation, insurance policies and membership subscriptions.
