We are seeking an experienced and dynamic (Senior) Research Officer. This exciting role involves undertaking research on gambling related financial harms and engaging with stakeholders in financial services firms to practically apply our research to their work. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent critical thinking, research and policy development skills, with the ability to digest complex information quickly and appraise firms work against regulatory requirements, best practice examples and policy recommendations.

The successful candidate will primarily work as part of the Gambling Harms Action Lab team where we’re bringing together seven representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling related financial harms. The (Senior) Research Officer will be an integral part of the team working to tackle gambling related financial harms through delivering timely and insightful research and consultancy support.

Key tasks in the role will include: 

• Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of key developments in gambling and financial services sectors, including regulatory guidance and best practice.

• Developing and strengthening relationships within financial services firms by delivering support to practically apply existing and new research to financial services work with customers with experience of mental health problems and or gambling harms. 

• Collaborating, brainstorming and analysing to identify potential policy solutions to address gambling related financial harms. 

• Collating insights from our Research Community of people with lived experience of mental health problems, and sharing these learnings through insight reports and briefings with financial services and other stakeholders.

• Supporting the Head of the Gambling Harms Action Lab with monitoring and measuring the impact of our work, engaging with key stakeholders, and suggesting innovative new ways to increase our impact. 

• Supporting other teams within the organisation to deliver our programme of research and consultancy work

Location: Lift Unity City, Middlesbrough (please note the role will require regular travel to Hull, Barnsley and Sheffield offices)

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Diocese, with a particular focus on the effective management of property, land, and other physical assets. Key Duties

• Fundraising activity – preparing compelling and bespoke proposals tailored to donor requirements, ensuring effective stewardship of charitable trust and foundation major gifts within CHEM Trust’s portfolio by building relationships and providing on-time reports and updates.
• Working cross-organisationally, to ensure relevant information is obtained from CHEM Trust’ team members in a timely fashion to report to funders in advance of deadlines.
• Timeline management – keeping an accurate track of the necessary reporting and application deadlines and ensuring these are communicated in good time to relevant team members.
• Developing relationships and networking – including excellent donor stewardship to existing funders and using events, meetings, talks and inspirational writing to help charitable trusts learn about CHEM Trust’s work and understand the difference we are making.
• Recording and maintaining accurate funding data, ensuring records are kept and effectively managed and that CHEM Trust’s fundraising team operates within GDPR.
• Good team working - daily interaction with the fundraising team, wider CHEM Trust team, funding partners and others, plus possible interaction with trustees.
• Leading on the writing of the annual report, tailoring it to be a key document that prospective funders can use to get a succinct overview of CHEM Trust’s vision, goals, and achievements.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer with an international development charity on a permanent, full-time basis. As Finance Officer you will support the Finance Business Partner and the wider team with the financial oversight of the charity’s programmes. Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for reporting internal information and meeting the reporting requirements of regulatory organisations – primarily the Office for Students (OfS), Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), the Open University (OU), the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI), Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). This will be with the support of the Training Administration team and all other teams within the college.

• As DPO, ensure all personal data and sensitive information is handled within the College according to UK GDPR guidelines
• Draft new and amend existing data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures, in consultation with key stakeholders
• Serve as the main point of contact within the organisation for staff members, regulators, and relevant authorities on issues related to data protection, and provide advice as required.
• Maintain records of all data processing activities within the College
• Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues

You’ll spend your time:

• Supporting the Communications & External Affairs Team by organising meetings, assisting with event planning, updating stakeholder databases and coordinating social media content with the Media & Public Affairs Manager
• Providing administrative assistance to the Director of Communications & External Affairs, including diary management and travel arrangements.
• Supporting the Operations Team with a range of administrative tasks including processing invoices, supporting recruitment and onboarding, maintaining IT archives and contributing to larger team projects as needed.
• Coordinating the Trust’s internal operating committees including risk steering, IT and data strategy groups.
