We are looking for an Alumni Relations Manager to lead the alumni relations activity for Birmingham Business School. In collaboration with the College Alumni Relations Manager, the postholder will support the strategic aims of the Business School, College of Social Sciences and the Development and Alumni Relations Office through the development, planning and implementation of a bold and innovative alumni volunteering programme for the Business School within the College of Social Sciences.
As part of the DARO team for the College, you will be based both within DARO and the College. As part of the wider volunteering team, you will deliver a range of volunteering opportunities for alumni, which support the implementation of the College of Social Sciences’ 2030 strategy, as well as delivering Birmingham 2030 targets. You will play a key role securing volunteers for a broad range of priorities within the Business School, including student experience, graduate employability, supporting international recruitment, and global brand and reputation. You will work with colleagues across DARO and College to bring alumni closer to the University to support philanthropic giving.
The role of Business School Alumni Relations Manager is responsible for the development, planning and implementation of an alumni volunteering strategy for the Business School. We are looking for a motivated team player with the ability to build relationships across a wide range of stakeholders, influence, project manage and make meaningful activity happen. In this unique and rewarding role, you'll be the welcoming face of Stella Maris in your region, visiting ships, listening to crew members, and offering practical, pastoral and spiritual support to anyone in need, regardless of faith or background.
About the role
No two days are the same. You might spend the morning visiting ships and listening to crew members' stories, help someone contact their family back home, support a seafarer in crisis, or offer a quiet moment of prayer on deck.
You'll also recruit and support a team of volunteers, work closely with other maritime charities and local partners, and build strong relationships with parishes, dioceses, and port authorities. - Visit ships regularly to meet seafarers and fishers, responding to their pastoral, practical and spiritual needs.

Key responsibilities we will entrust you with:
Membership applications and compliance programme
- Deliver administrative tasks in the compliance programme and application process, including scheduling calls, sourcing and maintaining evaluator records of competence & conflict of interest
- Coordinate the application process for aspiring members, pre-assess completeness of applications, and provide process guidance and support throughout their application journey
- Coordinate independent external member evaluations and act as main point of contact, responding to enquiries

We are looking for an experienced data analyst to help us make the best possible use of our supporter data, to continue to grow income and engagement. At its heart, this role is about uncovering the trends, patterns and stories behind the numbers, and providing clear, engaging reports and dashboards: generating real understanding to drive strategic direction. The role is based in our newly formed Insight, Research, Innovation and Supporter Data team, bringing together professionals across these functions to drive impactful strategies and innovation. It is a job-share post, working with another part-time analyst.
About you
As well as being a whiz with numbers, analytical tools and coding (including SQL), you must be a good collaborator who can work well with stakeholders and other analysts across different fields to bring together the ‘big picture’ and add value.
You must have experience working with CRM systems and developing and interrogating PowerBI reports and dashboards for different contexts.
You need to be objective and clear-headed in a complex data environment; you figure out and focus on what really matters, going beyond headline reporting to uncover deeper insights and choosing the most effective methods to report on those insights to a range of audiences.

As Lead, Management Accountant, you will:

- Prepare interim/final financial Project reports for submission to Funders
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to support the organisational financial strategy and decision-making process
The successful applicant will:
- Have demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA or Part qualified on final stage
- Have a strong understanding of charity accounting principles, including SORP
- Have experience of managing financial ledgers, systems and processes
- Have strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, and the ability to manage large amounts of data
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

About the Role
As Content Writer and Editor you promote the work and mission of the charity through digital and printed content production, including the editorship of All the World online magazine.
The In-House Content Writer and Editor (Maternity Cover) will be responsible for:
- Research and procurement of stories that promote the organisations mission and ministry ideals
- Write printed and digital content for publication on social media, web and internal platforms and printed works
- As Editor of All the World online magazine, the planning and commissioning of relevant content to be published a minimum of three times per week and that informs, inspires, nurtures and challenges readers about the life and work of the global charity. and impact of the magazine

About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have a degree in English, journalism or an equivalent related field

- Have excellent written and spoken English, as well as a professional presentation
- Have significant experience in writing and distributing news stories, sometimes under time constraints
- Be proficient working in a Microsoft 365 (Word, Teams, etc) environment
- Demonstrate well-developed inter-personal, organisational and time management skills
- Be confident in recommending new concepts for communication methods
- Share empathy and a willingness to advance the mission, values and objectives of charity
