Volunteers are involved in every area of foodbank life, from carrying out day-to-day tasks to supporting back office functions and governance of the Foodbank. This role is vital to make sure our volunteers have a positive experience and can contribute to our work.

You will support the Operations Manager in ensuring volunteers are equipped to come to our sessions and support the work of the foodbank. You will be responsible for managing every stage of the volunteer journey, from onboarding to providing feedback.

• · You will work with the trustees and senior team to ensure volunteers have a strong voice within the foodbank, 
• · You will be the volunteer platform super user, leading volunteer administration and record keeping.
• · You will be responsible for monitoring volunteer training, ensuring that volunteers are equipped to volunteer safely            and uphold  the values of Bow Foodbank as we interact with members of the community.
• · You will maintain the volunteer CRM and be the main point of contact with the platform provider.
• · You will roll out and maintain the Volunteer Handbook, ensuring all volunteers have access to Bow Foodbank                    Policies and  Procedures.
• · You will work with the Corporate and Community Manager to plan group volunteering sessions.
• · You will work with the Volunteer Wellbeing Lead to ensure volunteers have access to the same signposted                        services as our guests.

The Role

As well as managing the service safely within the regulations and standard required by CQC.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a London Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around London. Chapter One currently works in the following London boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Haringey, Islington, Lambeth, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Southwark. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

Asthma + Lung UK is the only charity in the UK fighting for everyone with a lung condition, aiming for a world where everyone can breathe with healthy lungs. We fund cutting-edge research, provide advice and support for the 12 million people who will get a lung condition during their lifetime. You will be a key point of contact for the team, working across fundraising campaigns, liaising with agencies and managing stock for our online shop. Supporting across all aspects of our portfolio to ensure that our supporters receive the best possible experience.

You will have excellent communication skills in writing and verbal, strong IT skills and experience in a fundraising environment. You will be organised, target oriented and a team player.

Victim Support is proud to have been commissioned in Cumbria to provide support for victims of all crime, whether or not they have reported to the police.

The service will be a valuable point of contact for anyone affected by crime at any time to contact and receive help, support and information. It will be busy and fast paced receiving referrals and calls of varying nature from a variety of people, and working to provide an offer of support by a victim's preferred method and time of contact.

We have an opportunity available and are looking for dedicated, passionate and empathetic person to join and enhance our team as an Initial Support Agent (known internally as a Triage & Early Interventions Officer), this role is working 37.5 hours per week and is home-based.

About the role:

The role of Triage and Early Interventions Officer (TEIO) is a fast paced one which requires the post holder to answer incoming calls and make outgoing calls to victims of crime and those accessing the service in Cumbria.

As a TEIO, you will;

• answer incoming calls, speaking to those affected by crime & manage a caseload
• make outgoing calls, assess needs and risks and action plan with callers
• work on the case management system to allocate cases, provide administration on cases and assess/ensure data quality
• liaise with other agencies where required to find out more information, give information or make referrals or give signposting information
• work with the wider team to ensure an effective, trauma informed service is given to those affected by crime

You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations.

You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

AAUK are seeking an experienced CO-CEO Office Liaison and Internal Communications Lead. This role is responsible for running the office of the Co-CEOs, internal communication and engagement activities across ActionAid UK.  The role will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Co-CEO office enabling the Co-CEOs to effectively manage their workload and focus on strategic responsibilities in their dual roles as Co-CEOs and Directors. 

The post holder will lead on key Co-CEOs projects and deliverables in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts across the organisation. Develop the organisation’s internal communications and engagement strategy, in line with the overall People & Culture Strategy, policies and best practice. Lead and implement a programme of internal communications and engagement initiatives that ensures AAUK staff feel connected to and engaged with the mission and objectives of the organisation, and boosts staff engagement levels. Responsible for ensuring all comms and engagement activities are promoting our feminist principles, anti-racist and decol agenda and contributing to the overall staff experience and employee proposition as an employer of choice.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be asked to participate in criminal records checks at the point of offer.
