About the role

This role is critical to shaping and advancing our insights & analytics function, ensuring we harness the full potential of our digital, CRM, and data warehouse assets.

By building and leading a high-performing team and collaborating closely with the head of data, this role will set a clear strategic direction and embed a culture of test-and-learn, curiosity, and continuous improvement.

It will drive the development of robust measurement frameworks, increase automation, and empower teams to self-serve insights, ultimately enhancing decision-making across the organisation.

With a strong focus on data quality, literacy, and best practices, this role will be instrumental in transforming how we understand and engage with our supporters.

About you

We’re seeking a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to head our insight & analytics function. You’ll bring a strong blend of technical expertise, people leadership, and a passion for data-informed decision-making. With broad experience across charity CRM data and data warehousing and a good understanding of digital analytics, you’ll also be curious about how social listening can enrich our insights. You’re recognised as a trusted expert in your field, known for setting high standards and building supportive, high-performing teams. You’ll be energised by the opportunity to help us shift from a product-first to an audience-first approach, deepening supporter engagement. The Role

As Global Head of Finance, you will lead a small, dedicated international team, overseeing strategic financial planning, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across UK and US entities.

You’ll play a key role on the Fund’s management team, ensuring financial integrity, promoting sustainable growth, and partnering across functions to embed strong financial practices organisation-wide.

This is both a strategic and hands-on role, offering the opportunity to guide long-term financial direction while staying closely connected to day-to-day operations and people.

Duties include, but aren’t limited to:

• Financial planning, reporting and strategy: managing annual budget cycle, produce monthly, quarterly and annual finance reports.
• Compliance, Audit and Risk Management: Oversee annual audits for both US and UK entities, support compliance checks and procurement systems meet organisational and donor requirements.
• Investment, Treasury and External Relations: Monitor and management investment and cash accounts across both the US and UK – optimising returns. Managing external banking, investment and lease negotiations, managing annual vendor negotiations and renewals globally.
• Systems optimisation and process improvement.
• Team leadership: Lead and support the finance team, reviewing outputs, resolving issues to support high performance. Oversee financial training to all budget holders to maintain financial literacy and accountability across the organisation.

Essential experience

The successful candidate will possess blends of technical financial expertise with operational leadership with a continuous commitment to purpose-driven work. You will have:

• Professional financial qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Senior-level finance experience in an international charity or NGO sector.
• Strong familiarity with both UK SORP and US GAAP.
• Proven extensive knowledge of strategic financial leadership.
• Experience supporting grant management and donor reporting.
• A commitment to human rights, social justice, and inclusive workplaces.

Working with the pathfinder partnership, you will create, develop and deliver tailored support pathways to women across Greater Manchester who have experienced sexual violence and present with additional complex mental health needs. 

The pathfinder partnership joins up services in the VCSE sector across Greater Manchester (including We Are Survivors, Greater Manchester Rape Crisis & MASH) and works closely with NHS services to provide survivors of sexual violence with increased access to mental and physical health support.

You will:

• Design and develop individually tailored care plans and pathways for clients in the service.
• Undertake individual risk and needs assessments for clients entering the pathway.
• Deliver 1:1 trauma-informed, survivor-centred therapeutic interventions.
• Work within a multi-agency partnership to liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies.
• Accurately record clinical interventions and maintain a high standard of record keeping.
• Engage in monthly clinical supervision and regular line management as directed.
• Provide accurate client reports to pathway partnership that represent the clients’ wishes and needs.
• Participate in the development and implementation of continuous service and system improvement.

Job Information:

Oversee the success of our Networks and Groups for staff from hospices across the UK, ensuring they remain coordinated, consistent and informed by experts and evidence. 

Collaborate closely with subject matter experts across the charity, to help deliver plan and deliver these virtual groups, which involve multiple hospice staff and external stakeholders across different subject areas.

Deliver and grow our integral Big Conversations series, which brings the hospice sector together on the biggest issues of the day.

We’re looking for someone who takes a consistent project management approach to leading virtual networks and large online meetings/webinars. Building strong internal and external relationships will be vital.

You might be working in the charity sector already, or bring strong technical experience delivering virtual events or online membership networks from other sectors. You don’t need to have a background in healthcare.

You’ll join a close, 16-strong Programmes Team at Hospice UK, made up of experienced clinicians, sector-leading project and event managers, and specialists in evidence and research. We work together and alongside external experts, to design and deliver evidence-based programmes, projects and events, which help hospices provide the very best care in their communities. 

At Hospice UK the job title for this role is Network Manager. In other organisations this role might be called Virtual Events Manager or Membership Events Manager.

About Dr Jenner’s House

Dr Jenner’s House, The Chantry, is a site of profound global historical significance, recognized as the birthplace of vaccination. It was here that Edward Jenner, a country doctor and enlightenment figure, conducted his groundbreaking work in the 1790s, leading to the world's first vaccine and a medical breakthrough that forever changed humanity.

The Jenner Trust, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (registered charity number 1158316), is dedicated to preserving this unique heritage. We operate the museum, provide educational facilities exploring the history and impact of vaccination, and manage a one-acre site encompassing two Grade II* listed structures (The Chantry and Temple of Vaccinia), along with the Cyder House, which serves as our offices and conference centre. We welcome over 4,000 visitors annually and host a variety of school visits, events, and conferences. We are a small team of staff supported by a passionate volunteer team who care for the site and welcome our guests.

This is an exceptionally exciting period for our organisation. We have recently been honoured as a "2024 Place of Science" by the Royal Society, our UNESCO World Heritage Status bid is progressing, and we are delighted to have been successful in obtaining a substantial grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to expand our team and initiate crucial restoration work on the site. With a new Chairman, a strong team of Trustees, a newly appointed Museum Director and Duty Manager, and a growing base of dedicated volunteers, we are poised for significant growth and impact.

The Opportunity

The Jenner Trust is seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Manager to join our team during a pivotal phase of growth and development, offering a unique opportunity to shape the future of a globally significant heritage site.

Working collaboratively in a small team with the Museum Director, Chairman, and Trustees, you will be instrumental in driving our fundraising efforts, securing vital income, and building sustainable relationships that will ensure the long-term preservation and educational outreach of Dr Jenner’s House. A key focus will be on developing and implementing a robust capital fundraising strategy and cultivating major grant giving organisations and individual donors.

This role is funded for 18 months through the NLHF and is critical to achieving our ambitious longer-term goals, leading up to the international celebrations around the 50th anniversary of smallpox eradication in 2030 and beyond. Although there will be a requirement to be present in the Museum at certain times, we are open to discussions on hybrid or flexible working arrangements for this post.

Key Responsibilities

As our Development Manager, you will:

Strategy & Leadership:

• Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the museum’s comprehensive Fundraising Strategy, establishing clear action plans, KPIs, and targets.
• Establish and facilitate a Fundraising Leadership Group comprising Trustees, staff, volunteers, and external consultants to leverage expertise and resources for fundraising activities.
• Ensure the Fundraising Strategy incorporates ongoing work with the National Lottery Heritage Fund, particularly for the restoration of the Temple of Vaccinia and The Chantry.

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:

• Develop and nurture long-term relationships with new and existing individual donors, high-net-worth individuals, corporates, and foundations to build a robust pipeline of future support.
• Drive a proactive stewardship programme for all potential and existing donors, ensuring exceptional donor care and fostering sustained engagement.
• Support the development and delivery of the museum’s patron schemes in close collaboration with the Chairman of the Trustees.

Income Generation & Grant Management:

• Identify and review new avenues for potential capital and revenue grant funding opportunities (unrestricted and restricted).
• Lead and coordinate compelling grant funding applications to a diverse range of potential funding bodies, including NGOs, Trusts, Foundations, philanthropists, and local authorities.
• Inspire new and existing supporters to join the museum’s membership and/or donor schemes, significantly increasing the museum’s income (both revenue and capital) to meet agreed targets.
• Ensure grant-funded projects are appropriately managed, and all requisite monitoring and evaluation reports are submitted to funding bodies on time.

Communications & Engagement:

• Produce engaging copy and content for newsletters and assist with external communications, including social media, press releases, and other PR and marketing opportunities, to promote fundraising initiatives.
• Organise and manage fundraising and donor cultivation events, ranging from low-level individual giving activities to major high-level events, especially plans for the 50th anniversary of the eradication of smallpox in 2030.

With such a small staff team we are looking for a candidate who is able to work collaboratively and to support other staff and Trustees in securing the future for the Trust.

Skills and Experience
