Heart Research UK are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. This role is based within our Projects, Data and Insight Department, reporting to the Director of Projects, Data and Insights.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting data, analysing results, and providing insights to drive decisions. The Data Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver a variety of reports and identify opportunities for improvement.

You will enjoy developing strong relationships, have problem-solving and organisational skills and an inquisitive mind.
 

Key responsibilities

• Data-Driven Decision Making: Drive the organisation to use data in its operations, using first party and third-party data sources to facilitate more informed and reliable decision making. Ensure data is relevant, accurate, and accessible by creating, maintaining, and promoting dashboards (through Power BI)
   
• Fundraising and Marketing Effectiveness: Provide detailed reporting on the effectiveness of our campaigns. provide data insights following the and recommendations for future and work with teams to develop testing and continuous improvement plans to improve future outcomes and
   
• Supporter Insights: Deliver meaningful insight into our supporter base to support our donor acquisition and retention objectives. Build segmentations to be used for targeting.
  
   
• Impact Reporting: With the Director of Data, develop comprehensive impact reporting frameworks, tracking the effectiveness of our charitable activity, and providing the Senior Leadership Team with actionable insights to drive improvements.

We are currently a team of 44 people and growing. Since the pandemic, we have moved to a hybrid working model, with some of our team members working remotely, with occasional trips to our Leeds and Birmingham offices, and travel to events around the UK.

We're looking for an IT Project Manager to join our Data and IT team. The IT Project Manager will oversee the planning, implementation and tracking of assigned IT projects within the charity. You'll be responsible for managing the project team, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget and meet quality standards. IT Officer - part time 3 days a week role - National

Charity People have partnered with a £4million turnover NFP organisation called Advice UK, to help recruit an IT Officer.

This is a newly created role, fully remote where you are required to come to London once a month. The role offers a salary between £32,000 - £34,000 per annum + Regional Weighting, which will be pro-ratad for three days a week.

Some of your key duties and responsibilities are;

• Project manage the implementation of all agreed technology projects e.g. migration to SharePoint (including devising a new file structure, identify files that need to be archived and deleted in compliance with the organisations data retention policy and GDPR)
• Develop, document and maintain a map of current technology systems
• Create and implement protocols for the use of IT across departments and projects (e.g. onboarding and offboarding)
• Create, implement and manage a process for internal IT support that makes cost-effective use of our external IT support supplier by being first point of contact for AUK staff for IT issues to triage requests and issues for our external IT support
• Support the Head of Systems and Technology in selecting most cost-effective systems and technology to deliver the organisation's objectives
• Devise, manage and test a backup and recovery process.

• Manage external access request to teams for project work as appropriate
• Work alongside the Data Protection + Cyber Security Officer to ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR) + cyber security standards

• Experience of managing migration to SharePoint is essential

About This Job

ACCT UK launched its new name and brand in 2021 and we are now seeking a highly motivated Marketing Manager to continue the delivery of our engagement programme. Working flexibly from home, you will perform a core role in our small, friendly virtual team helping to maintain financial stability and control as we focus on our mission to deliver successful projects across a range of settings globally. You will report to the Strategy Director. The role is advertised at 15 hours per week and the preference would be for these hours to be worked over 3 days, however this can be flexed in line with the cyclical nature of some of the finance activities, particularly during quarter end.

This role has management & operational responsibility for all finance processes including budgeting, cashflow, VAT, Payroll, and overall management of our bank accounts and treasury. The Finance Manager will also manage the relationship and coordinate with our outsourced financial service providers.

Person criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated finance qualification, ideally ACA/CA or ACCA. Undergrad degree in Accounting with considerable relevant experience will also be considered.
2. Strong experience in all aspects of financial management, accounting and tax.
3. Natural aptitude for financial control & ability to identify areas of process risk.
4. Strong Excel skills.
5. Good communicator with ability to write clear instructions & summarise key messages for non-finance colleagues.
6. Ability to advise & recommend logical actions to senior managers/directors.
7. Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities, remaining calm under pressure, whilst monitoring wider environment for related impact.
8. Proactive and takes own initiative; comfortable making decisions & taking responsibility
9. Access to appropriate connectivity & workspace which is conducive to productive home working
10. Efficient, organised, accurate & thorough record-keeper, with keen attention to detail
11. Experience working as part of a virtual/remote team.

1. Experience using Xero or similar accounting package.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3250 children in 2024-25.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a Birmingham/West Midlands Programme Manager from September 2024 who is an excellent communicator and is able both to motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around the Birmingham and West Midlands area. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

• Weekly communication and status updates with Senior Programme Manager(s) and wider team

• As a new school year approaches, secure commitments from returning schools and find and target new schools to join Chapter One’s programme
