Muslim Women’s Network UK (MWNUK) is an award-winning national charity based in Birmingham and has been running since 2003. MWNUK are working to advance equality and social justice for Muslim women and girls. MWNUK achieves its aims through research, campaigning, training, engaging with its membership, evidence-based advocacy, and by operating a culturally sensitive helpline and counselling service.
Training
Due to the variety of enquiries we receive and their sensitive nature, the first month of your role will involve specialised training.You will be required to attend 3 mornings per week for 3 weeks.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for individuals to volunteer on our Muslim Women’s Network (MWN) Helpline Service which primarily provides support to victims of domestic abuse, violence against women and girls (VAWG) and related issues. We are also recruiting volunteers for a new helpline service focused on recording incidents of anti-Muslim hatred.
As a Helpline Support Volunteer, you will be answering calls, emails, texts, webchat and on Amal Safety mobile app from service-users and supporting them on the wide variety of issues that are raised on the Helpline. The helpline supports women on more than 45 different issues with most of the calls relate to VAWG as well as mental health and wellbeing.
All responses must be in line with the ethos of MWNUK which upholds protection from discrimination, harassment and victimization in line with the Equality Act 2010. The nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of the client cases on MWN’s bespoke online databases, ensuring data complies with GDPR requirements.
Given the nature of the role, experience supporting individuals - particularly Muslim women - is essential. This may be through paid employment, volunteering, or informal support of friends and family.
You may also have the opportunity to contribute to maintaining website resources, promoting the service, supporting other MWNUK projects and activities related to Helpline issues.
Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you feel confident and equipped in your role.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual who is passionate about women’s rights and keen to make a difference. An interest in Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector and tackling anti-Muslim hatred / Islamophobia is important.

Main responsibilities
- Providing high-level support to users of the MWN Helpline and/or a new anti-Muslim hatred / Islamophobia incident recording service, responding to telephone and electronic enquiries.
- Manage helpline cases, including accurate data entry into MWN’s bespoke database.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies at all times.
- Attend training sessions as directed.
- Stay informed about developments and legislation on key issues such as forced marriage, violence against women, hate crime, Islamophobia, and related topics.
- Carry out administrative duties and provide support to the Helpline Manager, Operations Director, and Trustees as required.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong interest in the charity sector, particularly in empowering racialised communities and Muslim women.
- Can work in a non-judgmental, culturally and faith-sensitive manner.
- Demonstrates accurate listening and note-taking skills.

- Possesses excellent IT skills, including data entry and email correspondence.
- Speaks a second language (e.g., Urdu, Arabic, Punjabi, Mirpuri, Pashtu, Bengali, Gujarati).
- Has experience supporting Muslim women and girls—through paid work, volunteering, or informal support.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism when engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- Has knowledge of key issues affecting Muslim women and girls, including domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, hate crime, Islamophobia, and mental health.

Job Overview:
As a Roma Helpline Volunteer, you will be at the heart of a new and exciting pilot project aimed at offering confidential, culturally competent, and multilingual support to Roma and Romanian-speaking communities across Greater Manchester and the UK.
You will respond to helpline calls during scheduled shifts, log information securely, and provide advice or referrals related to housing, benefits, health, employment, and legal matters. Key Responsibilities:
- Helpline Support:
Respond to calls via a secure VOIP system during scheduled helpline shifts (2nd and 4th Thursday, 5–7 PM).
Listen actively and empathetically and provide culturally competent support and signposting.
Log all call data securely using Europia’s GDPR-compliant CRM system. - Referral and Follow-up:
Identify the caller's main issue and provide information or refer them to the appropriate service.
Where necessary, flag safeguarding or urgent cases to the on-call safeguarding officer. - Language and Accessibility:
Offer assistance in Romanian or another Roma community language.
Help promote trust and understanding with callers through culturally sensitive communication. - Collaboration and Supervision:

Work closely with other volunteers, staff, and translators/interpreters when required.
Qualifications and Skills:

The Bromley Experts by Experience Treasurer will help the board of trustees carry out their financial responsibilities, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chair of Trustees and staff team in establishing strong foundations for this Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation with a view to a financially sustainable future. You will also be supporting us in developing our future approach to financial management, making the most of financial modelling, and supporting clear reporting to funders, partners and stakeholders.
The Treasurer will play a vital role, working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chair of Trustees and staff team to help the organisation ensure sound financial records, develop income streams, and build impact reports. As part of a new, expanded board of trustees at Bromley Experts by Experience, you will provide effective financial oversight, supporting the CEO and senior staff members in developing our vision and strategy to ensure a financially sustainable future.

Responsibilities of the Treasurer:
- Present financial reports to the board in a format that helps fellow trustees understand X by X Bromley’s financial position.
- Advise the board on how to carry out its financial responsibilities.
- Work with professional advisors and staff, as needed to oversee the preparation and scrutiny of annual accounts.
- Ensure X by X Bromley activities benefit its members and beneficiaries.
- Ensure the board fulfils their duties and responsibilities for effective charity governance in line with Bromley Experts by Experience’s policies and the requirements of the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

What we ask of you:
- The Treasurer should expect to serve for a minimum of 12 months.
- The Treasurer is required to attend scheduled meetings with some ad hoc meetings where necessary.
- It is anticipated that the time commitment will be an approximate average of 2.5 hours per week. This will mainly comprise of:
- Board meeting attendance (plus preparation thereof) every 8 weeks,
- AGM attendance (plus preparation of papers and accounts),
- Supporting our annual Disability Pride event.
- Regular scheduled meetings with senior staff.
- As we are a very small charity, there could be occasions when extra time will be required (e.g. during the planning of new projects or dealing with any particular difficulties that arise), or where additional support would be appreciated (e.g. attending events, meeting members at project days).

- A belief that Disabled People can and should be actively welcomed and included in our communities. An understanding that it is barriers in society that make that harder. This is called the Social Model of Disability.
- A qualified accountant with not-for-profit awareness and knowledge. An understanding of very small charities and/or DDPOs would be advantageous.
- Competent IT skills, including working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel.
- Ability to communicate and explain financial information accessibly.

The Treasurer must be legally eligible to stand as a registered Company Director and Charity Trustee. Having had previous experience as a trustee of a voluntary organisation is an advantage.

What is a Divisional Secretary?
The is a key role involving administration and coordinating people. As the first point of contact for the division you will play a key part in promoting SSAFA locally, matching clients to volunteer caseworkers and supporting volunteers to get the best outcomes for their clients.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan.
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas who support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
We aim to provide financial, practical, and emotional support when it’s needed most. More people than ever before are coming to us for help, and you will be one of the people contacting new clients and getting them the support, they need.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about coordination and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role would suit someone looking to offer a regular time commitment each week.
What would you be doing?
- Acting as the first point of contact for SSAFA in the local area
- Taking enquiries from potential clients and potential volunteers
- Matching new clients to available caseworkers
- Supporting caseworkers, particularly new volunteers
- Working with the local publicity officer to promote SSAFA locally.
- Providing reports to the local SSAFA branch and to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Maintaining accurate records on our on-line case management system
- Coordinating SSAFA Visitors and Helpers (if applicable)
- Organising local meetings to keep all volunteers up to date with the latest training and information.
- Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser.

At The Brain Tumour Charity, we aim to address the clear gap in emotional support available to those affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, by expanding our counselling service. We know the difference that talking therapy can make to the brain tumour community and our goal is to reach more people, ensuring everyone that wants it, gets the support that they need.
How can you help?
We are in a position to offer a number of unpaid student placements, to those training to be integrative or person centred counsellors, which will see you work via telephone/webcam only, with a wide range of clients; from those newly diagnosed, to those at end of life, carers and bereaved loved ones.
We’re looking for students who:
- Are in their 2nd year of studying for the Level 4 Counselling Diploma (or equivalent)
- Have been signed off as ’fit to practice’ by their tutor and have already accrued at least 30+ client hours.
- Are student members of the BACP (or equivalent) and work in line with their ethical framework.
- Are prepared to attend mandatory monthly group supervision provided by The Charity and committed to meeting all supervision requirements outlined by their ethical body.
- Have their own public liability insurance (or are willing to obtain this).
- Will be committed to following our safeguarding processes and will only work within their limits of proficiency.
- Will observe confidentiality in line with their ethical framework and The Charity’s organisational policy.
- Have the capacity to work autonomously and IT abilities to be able to maintain appropriate and accurate records on our counselling database.
- As this is a home-based role, you will need access to a telephone and computer that you are happy to use for this service.

What can you gain from volunteering with us?

- You will receive training, ongoing support and management supervision from the Counselling Service Manager.
- You will receive 1.5 hours per month of group supervision with a clinical supervisor.
- We will complete any necessary paperwork and reports needed for your placement records.
- All diary management will be carried out by our Counselling Team, reducing the amount of admin required by you.
Time commitment
We ask each student to commit to a placement of at least 6 months and to see a minimum of 3 clients per week (at a time suitable for you, but it MUST be at the same time each week). The service operates between the hours of 9am—5pm, Monday-Friday and you will be required to see clients within these hours.
Practical considerations
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to attend an interview with our Counselling Service Manager and Counselling Service Officer.
Successful candidates will then receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing support from one of the team.
We will carry out reference and DBS checks for all successful applicants and you will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the placement

When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about leadership, coordination, and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role requires an ongoing time commitment, usually about 2-3 days per month. In addition, you would need to organise and attend regular meetings throughout the year.

- Providing leadership to the Branch and ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations both directly, and through the Branch Secretary, other Branch Officers, and Divisional Officers.

- Ensuring the financial integrity of the Branch, including the appointment of Treasurers and a local fundraising programme to meet branch running costs.

What will you be doing?
Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that PAT achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that PAT has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable the charity to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.
Time commitment
- Attend all full Board meetings. The Board meets formally at least four times a year for between a half day and a day, depending on business. Two meetings are in-person and are held in central London. Two are virtual.
- Preparation for meetings – read papers, understand numbers, assimilate arguments.
- All trustees are asked to serve on one or more Board sub committees and working groups. This adds 3-4 shorter meetings a year.
- Trustees may be asked to chair sub committees on a rotating basis.
- At least two visits per year accompanying a PAT volunteer in a different sector and or attending/supporting an event with PAT volunteers.

- Local orientation as well as meet and greet sessions with key Central Office and regional teams.
- Access to a range additional e-learning courses as well as local opportunities for your personal and professional development.
- Support from Regional and central staff and peer support from fellow Chairs in neighbouring branches.
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- Volunteers will be covered by SSAFAs Public Liability Insurance whilst carrying out the role.

What is a Branch Chair?
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. Many are further divided into local areas called divisions. Each branch has a Chair to oversee all aspects of the branch. Ultimately accountable to the Chair of the Board of Trustees, through the National Chairman your role is to ensure that the branch is running in line with SSAFA’s Royal Charter Rules, Regulations, and policies. Also, to ensure that clients and volunteers are safe, all services provided are appropriate and effective and that the branch is financially sound. You will be the public face of SSAFA in your branch area.
Why do we need you?
We’ve been supporting the Armed Forces community since 1885. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan. More people than ever are contacting SSAFA for financial, practical and emotional support. To do this we need local branches and volunteers who can coordinate people, ensure the local population know about SSAFA and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Our branches support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about leadership, coordination, and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role requires an ongoing time commitment, usually about 2-3 days per month. In addition, you would need to organise and attend regular meetings throughout the year.
What would you be doing?
- Providing leadership to the Branch and ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations both directly, and through the Branch Secretary, other Branch Officers, and Divisional Officers.
- Providing support and guidance to volunteers in office holder roles, and support with recruitment of volunteers into these positions to ensure the sustainability of the branch.
- Ensuring the financial integrity of the Branch, including the appointment of Treasurers and a local fundraising programme to meet branch running costs.
- Ensuring that all data is processed and held in accordance with SSAFA’s data management policies.
- Monitoring volunteer numbers against the demand for support and working with other volunteers, regional and central office staff to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
- Ensuring that all volunteers are recruited, inducted, supported, and managed in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
- Building relationships with regional and central office staff, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA Service committees, local military establishments, prisons etc.
- Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising so that potential clients, volunteers, and supporters know how to contact the branch.
- Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
- Supporting any salaried branch staff and ensuring that their line management arrangements are working appropriately.
- Resolve any complaints that are suitable for local resolution in accordance with SSAFA’s Complaints Policy and procedures, referring upwards any that are not suitable for local resolution.
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

The Joint Partnership Board ( JPB ) and its Reference Groups are the vehicle for partnership working in Haringey; empowering social services clients, carers and other residents as equal partners to develop and achieve strategic borough priorities across the Council and Health services. The JPB is made up of the chairs of the Reference Groups, and key officers from the Council and Health, with administrative support provided. The Reference Groups represent the interests of specific communities, to ensure their voices are heard and their needs and aspirations are taken into account. Currently we have Reference Groups representing Autism, Carers, Dementia, Older People, Physical Disabilities and Carers for people with severe complex autism and learning disabilities ( SCALD ). We are working to re-establish a Learning Disabilities Reference group and further groups may be set up in the future. The Reference Groups develop their own networks and agendas and provide information to the Joint Partnership Board which enables it to prioritise its work to the key needs of the community.
