Youth Participation Officer

Fitzrovia Youth in Action is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Youth Participation Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The post holder will manage and develop youth-led community projects in which young people develop their leadership and employability skills through becoming actively involved in their community and participating in self-directed community action. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of several youth-led community projects, primarily the organisation of youth-led community events, but might also include elements of other youth-led activities, such as youth action team, health champions and ambassadors. 

For example, typically, this would involve working with groups of around 10 young people in each cohort and support them to deliver their community event project over a 12-week period.  Examples of events include youth-led football tournaments, street parties and our community Christmas dinner. This post will be part of the delivery team overseeing self-directed community action projects. The post holder may also support drop-in sessions and other activities aimed at engaging young people and referring them onto the youth-led community action programme.

This is a key role providing essential company secretariat support to the Board of Trustees, Committees, the CEO Office and the Head of Governance & Compliance. As Governance Co-ordinator, you will help to ensure the Association maintains the highest standards of governance through efficient administration, effective meeting support and accurate record keeping.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Head of Governance & Compliance to provide efficient and effective administration for Board and Committee meetings, including maintaining the meeting calendar and timetables.
• Organise logistics for meetings, including dates, venues, travel and accommodation.
• Provide full secretariat support to the Board and Committees, including preparing Chair briefings, attending meetings, drafting minutes and actions.
• Collate and distribute papers and presentations in line with agreed timescales, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Liaising with senior leadership, Trustees and others at senior levels on all aspects of Board and Committee meetings.
• Prepare, proofread, collate and distribute Board and Committee papers and presentations on time.
• Provide administrative and planning support for the Annual General Meeting and Trustee elections.
• Assist the Head of Governance and Compliance with implementing recommendations from governance reviews, including updating templates, policies and processes.
• Maintain accurate statutory records with Companies House and the Charity Commission.
• Manage the Board of Trustees SharePoint page.

Main Purpose of Job

The Youth Engagement Worker’s role is to create positive, safe, educational, and memorable experiences for young people on our programmes. Youth Engagement workers will lead, inspire and support young people to develop personal, social and educational skills through creative and developmental activities.

Youth Engagement Workers will lead a variety of youth programmes, sessions, assemblies, and community-based projects in both local schools and the wider community. These initiatives will focus on key themes such as life skills, personal and social development, teamwork and leadership, employability, youth voice, and social action. They will collaborate closely with local community groups, partner organisations, charities, and employers to create meaningful opportunities that support and empower young people, while contributing positively to the wider community.

Youth Engagement workers will need to be innovative and think outside the box. They will provide pastoral care, and deliver inclusive curriculum sessions, and skill development activities to groups and individuals. The role is suitable for a dynamic and confident person who has experience in leading, motivating, and supporting young people to successfully participate in positive programmes and activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire and motivate young people through positive, creative and developmental sessions and activities.
• Supervise and take responsibility for pastoral care and safety needs of the young people.
• Deliver centre-based, community, school, and outdoor/adventurous activities and sessions.
• Consider youth voice and involve young people in the planning and delivery of activities on offer, and ensure they are innovative and effective.
• Plan, design, adapt, and deliver assigned curriculum sessions which include reflective learning, facilitating workshops, and youth-led delivery. Ensure sessions are consistent with the project themes and youth work outcomes.
• Engage and build positive relationships with young people to provide effective support, mentoring and coaching on a one-to-one and group basis where needed. • Use detached and outreach methods to engage and recruit new young people on to programmes.

• To understand and comply with all policies and procedures in line with Trust and contractual responsibilities including the safeguarding of the young people, GDPR, health and safety and EDI.

The Selection Criteria

Essential

Qualifications and experience

1. At least one year’s experience of delivering positive activities with young people (either in a voluntary or paid capacity).

2. Youth Work level 2 or alternative equivalent experience

3. Experience of inspiring and motivating young people from a variety of cultural, economic and social backgrounds.

4. Experience of planning, leading and facilitating both large and small group sessions, and 1 to 1 activity.

5. A Safeguarding and First Aid qualification or willingness to complete training.

Skills, Knowledge, and ability

1. An awareness of current socio-economic issues and trends which may affect young people and youth employment in the locations we work in.

2. Ability to build relationships and work alongside stakeholders including schools, charities, employers, local council etc.

3. Able to be proactive and adaptable to manage challenging behaviour and support young people with inclusion needs.

4. Knowledge of and a commitment to safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity and data protection in relation to working in the community and youth work environment

5. Ability to regularly travel within the allocated work areas (Predominantly Ealing and Hounslow).

6. A willingness to work flexible hours as this role will involve evenings and some weekend commitments.

Desirable:

• FA level 1 or equivalent sports qualification

Together, the charities Sands and Tommy’s have formed a Joint Policy Unit (JPU) focussed on achieving policy change that will save more babies’ lives during pregnancy and the neonatal period and on tackling inequalities in loss, so that everyone can benefit from the best possible outcomes.

The JPU’s mission is to secure policy change that will reduce rates of miscarriage, stillbirth, pre-term birth and neonatal death, and to work to eliminate inequalities in these outcomes.

While there is widespread agreement on the need for change to improve the safety of maternity and neonatal services, what that change looks like is not clear.  To save more babies’ lives we believe that a continued focus is required, and that governments should set new commitments to reduce perinatal mortality and preterm births, focused on matching the best-performing countries in Europe.

This role will be crucial to the continued success of the JPU unit; leading, shaping and coordinating all the unit’s work. 

We are looking for an independent and assertive problem-solver, a policy expert who can manage multiple priorities, take the initiative, lead the national conversation and is as excited as we are about taking the helm of this venture for both of our organisations.

The successful candidate will need to have a substantial track record of effectively leading and implementing national policy and influencing programmes, driving change and achieving the desired impact.

About Woman's Trust

The charity, established almost thirty years ago to meet the gap in specialist mental health services, is led by and for women and aims to ensure that women affected by domestic abuse can live a life free from further harm and abuse. Our approach is trauma-informed and person-centred, empowering survivors on their journey to recovery from trauma. We supported 833 women and children last year, with a current income target of £1.25m (growing to £1.4m in 2026-2027) and 36 staff. You will be joining the Woman’s Trust Fundraising team as we work towards our strategy 2022-2027, to double our income and the number of women we support each year. Alongside delivering our existing 1-1 counselling, self-development workshops and therapeutic support groups for women who have experienced domestic abuse, we are focused on developing our innovative mental health services for young women and girls, delivering new peer-led support groups and providing therapeutic groups to children and their mothers. We are also committed to developing further awareness-raising workshops and training for professionals, building on our research and policy to improve systems nationally.

About you and how to apply

As a skilled and compassionate counselling manager, aligned with our feminist ethos and the needs of our service users, you will bring experience in leading counselling services, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed support for women affected by domestic abuse. You will have experience in managing counsellors and/or volunteers, providing clinical supervision, and ensuring best practice across service delivery. You will be able to oversee the full cycle of service management, including monitoring outcomes, safeguarding, and compliance, while also contributing to service development and innovation in line with our strategic priorities.

Connexional Worship Renewal Team Leader

London-Hybrid

Hybrid Working: Connexional Team staff based at Methodist Church House have a hybrid work pattern which is currently 2-3 days in the office.

We are offering a hugely exciting role to support Methodist worship renewal across The Connexion and to continue to enhance our wonderful communities of local preachers, worship leaders and musicians through the training and development programmes offered by The Methodist Church in Great Britain.

It is open to both ordained and lay Methodists alike.

In recognition of the centrality of the worshipping life of the Church to Our Calling as both Christians and Methodists, we are absolutely committed to effectively supporting (in theology, craft and with practical questions) all of those who lead worship. We also recognise the missional imperative for high-quality worship. Thus the holder of this post will lead a small team, whose aims are to:

• Empower all of those leading worship through support and development.
• Operationalise and manage the Worship Renewal stream of the Methodist Church in Britain’s God For All ambition and strategy.

This will include working strategically; embedding deep learning and practice; envisaging and developing exceptional training and resourcing for all those involved in worship leading; managing staff, workplans and budgets; and being responsible for the governance aspects which sit within this role.

About you

Thus, we are looking for someone who is a gifted ‘crafter of worship’ and preacher, with deep sensitivity for Methodist worship in its varied traditions, passion for excellence in Methodist worship and creative strategic thinker. You will care deeply about the communities of people who lead Methodist worship, working alongside them to enable all to lead worship which contributes to flourishing Methodist churches. 

It is essential, therefore, that you are a presbyter, deacon or local preacher in The Methodist Church, have a deep understanding of Methodist – and wider – theology with an understanding of how to translate these for contemporary society. You will have an excellent understanding of current training structures for worship within The Methodist Church, alongside experience of leading and managing change in a complex organisation.

The team

The Ministries and Learning Team in which this role sits, is friendly, supportive, vibrant and passionate. Within this team, you will be line-managed by The Director of Ministry Development. The Team exists to equip the Methodist Church by training, developing and supporting those called by God to serve in lay and ordained ministry embedding the strategies which support the Church’s aspiration to be inclusive, justice seeking, evangelistic and growing.

The postholder will manage a small team and work widely with other teams, such as Evangelism and Growth, and across the wider Connexion.

This post carries an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Christian (in accordance with the Equality Act 2010).

About you

We are looking for a proactive and visible finance professional who is able to engage and build relationships across the organisation as a pivotal member within a values led high performing organisation. You will be a qualified accountant with proven track record of financial management awareness and a solid understanding of charity audits and statutory accounts preparation. You will have the ability to work with staff across the organisation in supporting good financial governance and oversight of financial operational matters. You will have the ability to analyse financial information and present this in a suitable format for the audience. You will have good ability to meet deadlines, be IT literate with an emphasis on financial systems, spreadsheets, Quickbooks and Excel. You will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and be able to work with minimum supervision.

About the role

The role will involve the management of the day-to-day financial activities, VAT, gift aid, payroll and the monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and statutory accounts preparation. The job holder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Finance Officer and volunteers within the team. There will be a requirement to work closely with the income generating staff, budget holders, auditors, banks and credit card providers on a regular basis.  The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Finance Officer and Finance volunteer.

About the Role 

The Content Creator will play a vital role in helping Urban Saints communicate with clarity, creativity, and consistency across all platforms. From video editing and creating social media graphics, to designing resources, brochures, or branded assets, this role is responsible for creating visually engaging content that amplifies our message and inspires action.

You'll be responsible for:

• Designing and producing compelling visual content across digital and print formats.
• Filming and editing videos for campaigns, training materials and resources.
• Managing and editing visual assets, including team-supplied images.
• Contributing ideas and visual concepts to support campaigns and storytelling.
• Acting as a brand guardian for visual content, ensuring consistency across all channels.
• Working closely with other members of the Communications team to deliver content for campaigns, training, and wider initiatives.

Please note, this is predominantly a remote role, but with travel as the role requires. All full-time Urban Saints employees are required to attend two team residentials per year (3 days/ 2 nights each).

About You

You'll shape and deliver high-quality content that supports campaigns, promotes our training and resources, and strengthens Urban Saints’ brand both online and in print.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Strong design and video editing skills across digital and print formats.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut etc)
• Confident in video production – from filming to postproduction.
• Ability to develop content for a range of platforms including social media, web, email, and YouTube.
• Strong attention to detail and visual consistency.
• Proven experience in a content creation, multimedia, or graphic design role.
• Experience creating visual content as part of multi-channel campaigns (e.g. email, social media, website etc).
• Experience working with brand guidelines and visual identities.
• Understanding of digital content trends, platform specifications, and audience behaviour.
