About the role
This is a new senior leadership position designed to strengthen our membership engagement, amplify our communications impact, and support a positive, collaborative working culture.

This is a key supporter-facing role where you will:

We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britain's rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. We support community action, galvanise and mobilise public opinion, influence government policy, and call out destructive industrial practices to incentivise changes that end pollution.

What you’ll be doing

As our Policy and Advocacy Manager, you will play a leading role in shaping and advancing River Action’s political and policy influence, working closely with the Head of Legal and Policy, Chief Executive and wider team to develop and execute an impactful policy and advocacy strategy.

River Action is the Co-Secretariat for the APPG on Water Pollution, offering our Policy and Advocacy Manager a unique opportunity to shape the policy direction for River Action and also to influence policy development across Parliament. 

You will also work closely with our public affairs agency who manage our daily Westminster activities. 

You will:

• Lead River Action’s policy and advocacy work on agricultural, sewage and industrial water pollution, with a focus on regulation, funding and legal frameworks. 

• Collaborate with River Action’s team and external partners to ensure our collective work is underpinned by robust and forward-thinking policy analysis and evidence.

• Develop policy analysis to support campaign, communications and policy strategies, based on a strong evidence base and a sound understanding of the relevant legal and policy frameworks.

• Translate complex policy and evidence into concise documents with clear messages and compelling campaigns to engage political and policy stakeholders.

• Monitor and analyse political and policy developments, interpreting their implications and opportunities for River Action and its supporters.

• Generate analysis to enable participation in public consultation processes, including drafting high-quality and persuasive consultation responses and briefings for Westminster and Whitehall audiences.

• Increase our political influence with exciting policy interventions, ensuring River Action’s voice is heard at the highest levels of decision-making.

• Build and maintain relationships with key policymakers, civil servants, industry experts and partner organisations.

• Support grassroots community groups and third-sector partners in engaging with their local representatives for effective advocacy.

• Organise and attend key political meetings and events, including the Water Pollution APPG, stakeholder roundtables and parliamentary events.

• Manage strategic policy partnerships, including our relationship with Wildlife and Countryside Link and other third-sector organisations.

• Ensure River Action’s policy and advocacy efforts align with our creative campaigns, by making sure colleagues and spokespeople are well-briefed and communications content is well-informed to maximise reach and impact.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

• Experience in a similar policy and advocacy role, ideally within the environmental sector. 

• Policy and/or legislative experience, with a good understanding of the workings of the UK government and Parliamentary procedure.

• A good understanding of the UK water industry, the key UK water-related policies and the issues that are impacting our rivers, land and wildlife.

• Excellent communication and writing skills with close attention to detail and the ability to produce concise and persuasive briefings, reports and consultation responses.

• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working creatively and at a fast pace with colleagues, stakeholders and partners. 

• Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to proactively plan and prioritise work and to report your progress and impact.

• Ability to work flexible hours and travel as necessary.

• A good and supportive team player with a willingness to muck in as and when required.

About the Role

As our VAWG Service Manager you will be responsible for the management and delivery of The Angelou Centre’s holistic, trauma informed and culturally competent VAWG services for Black and minoritised women and children. You will ensure the smooth and efficient management of our frontline VAWG services for Black and racialised women and children across Northumbria and the North East. You will manage the day-to-day delivery of projects and services, case management as well as managing a caseload of complex cases. You will ensure that all services maintain high safeguarding standards across the organisation, ensuring that we continue to prioritise women and children or their rights remains central to services. As our VAWG Service Manager you will oversee our representation at multi-agency partnership meetings and develop strategic opportunities for the VAWG services. You will work closely with our Safe Accommodation and Refuge team to ensure our residents remain safe and receive a high standard of support.

Our ideal candidate is someone who;

• Has previously worked within the Domestic Abuse and/or VAWG Sector in management positions, with an excellent knowledge of rights-based ending VAWG service delivery and a track record of case management and safeguarding.
• Is interested in working strategically with the Executive Director to develop and maintain external partnerships, that will support the delivery of quality VAWG services and needs based service growth.
• Strong leadership experience to support the development of high-quality advocacy services and an aspirational staff team.
• Someone with a strong practice in rights-based intersectional advocacy management who has a deep understanding of the needs of diverse racialised communities from a Black feminist perspective.

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and highly dedicated Customer Success Manager to become a trusted partner to our charity clients. This role is crucial to the success of our clients, combining strategic account management for all dedicated clients and hands-on project management and campaign build for managed services clients.

You will be responsible for nurturing strong, long-term relationships, ensuring our clients achieve their fundraising goals and realise maximum value from our platform and services. You will also be the main driver of renewals, keeping churn at a minimum and working with the Head of Partnerships and Head of Commercial Strategy to increase lifetime value alongside identifying and executing up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Account Management:

• Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders at non-profit organisations, deeply understanding their digital fundraising goals and aligning our solutions with their strategic objectives.

• Work closely with the Growth team to deliver smooth and effective handover milestones, ensuring ongoing client confidence.

About us and our ecological work

We are a small but growing UK-registered charity which undertakes projects that protect and restore wild landscapes, helping to provide a future for all life on earth. We use the skills and expertise of our multi-disciplinary team (spanning science, law, economics, technology and culture) to develop projects that protect and restore wild, natural landscapes. 

Our ecological work spans two exciting fronts: restoring missing species through projects like The Missing Lynx, Pine Marten and White-Tailed Eagle reintroductions in Northern England; and securing the protection of ecological restoration sites as a Responsible Body for conservation covenants through which we aim to set the gold standard, supporting ambitious, mission-aligned projects such as Nattergal’s High Fen site.

About the role

We are seeking to hire a dynamic and passionate Senior Ecologist to join The Lifescape Project, to play an integral role in the restoration of charismatic species to the UK and in landscape scale habitat restoration.

As a Senior Ecologist, your work will cover two distinct areas which are broadly: BNG-associated site assessments; and practical planning and feasibility aspects of species reintroductions.

Salary: £40,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience + benefits.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Contract: Fixed-term contract for 12 months initially.

Location: Remote working with site survey work and some UK and international travel.

About the role

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more. 

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates. 

Bristol and Somerset is an area filled with some of our most committed supporters but there is still so much opportunity to grow corporate support across the counties. Our Social Workers support families from Bristol hospitals, so building relationships with these teams are a must. 

Candidates should live within Bristol & Somerset, in one of the following Postcodes: Bristol BS1-19, North Somerset BS20-29, BS41-49, Somerset BA4-11, BA16-22, TA.

What will I be doing? 

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in our Role Details document. 

• To plan, monitor and report on your budgeted income with a constant eye on contingency planning to ensure annual targets are achieved
• To steward our most committed supporters and deliver legendary supporter experience
• To be a key, valued member of your regional team and UK wide team.
• To identify, cultivate and secure partnerships and donations within your area
• To work with your local service team/s to build and maintain strong and effective working relationships 
• To be the first point of contact for service user families, to offer opportunities to them and their networks to engage with the wider charity as they would like I.e. fundraising, volunteering, sharing their story 

What do I need?  

• A proven track record of delivering amazing customer experiences
• Experience of relationship management in either a charity or corporate setting
• Ability to work within a financial target-based setting, and experience of reaching/exceeding set targets
• Demonstrable experience of winning new business
• Experience of managing own workload

• Have a full UK driving licence and access to a car (including business insurance)

Key responsibilities include:

• Establish regular communication with each of the Directorates to support existing business processes and provide guidance for any potential changes to business processes which have a financial impact.
• Communicate any relevant changes back to the wider Finance Team.
• Prepare and analyse monthly expenditure against budget, investigating and documenting explanations for any significant variances, and liaising with directorates for review.
• Prepare monthly management information (expenditure).
• Lead on the preparation of the annual expenditure budget.

About the role

The Research and Programmes Coordinator role involves:

• Overseeing administrative tasks for all research projects
• Supporting the Programme Development Team Lead in management of all research projects
• Liaising with the Support Coach team to connect with facilitators/parents for data collection e.g. supporting with the running of focus groups
• Using Kids Matter’s CRM to confidently record communication with consultants and Research Assistants
• Supporting the data gathering process for all our evaluation data including maintaining data integrity by performing regular data audits and cleaning parent data ready for the Research Assistants to analyse
