The important stuff

Key Responsibilities

Support and Equip Church Partners

• Work with the wider Church Partnerships Team to meet key strategic goals to build social transformation across the church in the UK.
• Manage working relationships with caseload of partner churches within a region of the UK to ensure programme delivery flourishes, that the church has ongoing support and feels connected to Resurgo, and feels ownership and vision in relation to the programmes their church runs.
• Liaise with church partners regarding fundraising challenges, providing strategic support and connecting them to the wider Resurgo team for further assistance around key challenges.

Line Management, Team Training and Development of Spear Centre staff

• Manage Spear Centre Managers, through regular 1-1s, reviewing KPI’s and helping them troubleshoot challenges.
• Oversee the overall performance management for church partners in a region, delivering feedback regularly, reporting on key performance indicators and running reviews at intervals throughout the year.
• Work with the Impact team to identify training needs, then design and run training initiatives to meet these needs, including all-team training days, role-specific training streams, and volunteer training.

Curriculum Development

• Engage with wider national policy around NEETs and unemployment to ensure we are at the cutting edge within the sector.
• Develop programme curricula across all our programmes.

As Regional Manager you will represent, manage and co-ordinate FoodCycle meals for your allocated regional Projects. Our Projects are spaces where volunteers are empowered to run their own community meals using surplus food. You will manage local relationships with venues, community partners, supermarkets and volunteer recruitment channels to enable this to happen. You will continually be looking to increase our impact by working towards targets of increased meals served to our guests, expanding our existing Projects and setting up new ones within East Midlands.​

An excellent communicator, you will manage the volunteers at each Project ensuring they are trained, supported and on-message with FoodCycle strategy. You will have experience of recruiting and managing volunteers, as well as programme development and delivery.​

This role will require some attendance at our Community Meals projects, to support with delivery as necessary, which will include evening and weekend work. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this exciting role.​

Benefits: We offer 26.5 working days (this includes 3.5 days for the Christmas close down) plus additional holiday for length of service, up to a maximum of 30 days (pro-rata for part-time). This is an exciting opportunity to work at the interface of research, farming and policy working as part of the GFM team to support the development of the GFM framework and its application on farm, in the food supply chain, for education and learning, policy and finance.

Reporting to the Head of Research of the SFT, you will join the GFM team responsible for a wide range of trials, in the UK and internationally. These include Defra Elms pilots, farm cluster groups, supply chain trials, and international trials delivered as partners of Regen10. Our trials test the application of the framework and the use of the GFM by other stakeholders. 

You will work collaboratively with the trials team managers supporting the design, evaluation and timely delivery of trials. You will lead the quantitative and qualitative analysis of results and the design and reporting of feedback from participants, working with project partners, our trials team, and the wider SFT team to achieve and communicate outcomes. You will provide technical support to the team for the current GFM assessment and work with them and other project partners on the continuing development of sustainability assessments and data collection methodologies for application nationally and internationally. 

The postholder will also have the opportunity to contribute to related work on the conceptual development and application of the framework in different contexts. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Support the team of trials managers responsible for a wide range of GFM trials, in the UK and internationally. 
• Lead on the quantitative and qualitative analysis and interpretation of results and the design and reporting of feedbacfrom participants.
• Support the reporting and communication of results, leading the writing of key reports for stakeholders as needed. 
• Contribute to the development and delivery of assessments used for the trials nationally and internationally - providing technical support including around data management, cleaning and extraction. 
• Support the design and facilitation of workshops for trial farmers and farm advisors. 
• Support the team to deliver their trials and meet trial deadlines, whilst sharing best practice and learnings across the team to build on the skills and strengths of the team across all trials. 
• Contribute to GFM framework development and its application beyond the trials.
• Support the development of learning resources to explain farm sustainability and sustainability assessments to farmers using the GFM framework. 
• Contribute to peer reviewed journal article(s) on the value of framework for building farm advisor / farmer knowledge and support for farm sustainability, and on adding a state-of-the-system approach to certification assessments. 
• Work with project partners, our trials team, and the wider Global Farm Metric team to achieve and communicate our GFM mission and outcomes. 

Relationships:

• Contribute to discussion and review of metrics and GFM team outputs and planning. 
• Attend internal meetings on-line and in-person to share and discuss progress. 
• Engage with external organisations as required to support and promote the GFM and the trials. 
• Attend external meetings and events to present work as required (mainly in the UK, potentially EU)
• Work with the wider GFM and SFT team to support related work when needed.
• Engage with our externals partners and consultants to identify potential for collaboration and avoid duplication in related areas of work.
• Engage with the Regen10 Frameworks Hub team and contribute to discussions, planning and reports. 

Specifically, we are looking for candidates who have experience with and can demonstrate the following: 

• Masters level qualification (or degree level with 2-3 years relevant workplace experience) in a subject area related to food and farming 
• Good knowledge and practical experience of UK farming and farm sustainability. 
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills. 
• Experience in developing, delivering, or researching farm sustainability assessments including knowledge of LCA and similar impact assessment approaches.
• Competence in the use of Excel and other packages to collect, manage, analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data. 
• Ability to create simple coding for data management, analysis and display an advantage 
• Experience of delivering high quality, robust reports and written materials for different audiences 
• Experience of engagement with farmers and/or farm advisors (desirable).
• Experience of contributing to peer reviewed publication (desirable).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage a diverse workload in a fast-paced project delivery setting.

Our partner is a nonprofit organization providing accessible & effective mental health interventions for youths. They are seeking a part-time CFO to add expertise and oversight of their finance function to ensure financial sustainability. This role is a really interesting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to shape the finance function of a young, but growing organisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial strategies, and lead the development of financial projections and scenario planning to inform decision making.
• Lead the finance function, overseeing the day-to-day operations (cash, accounts payable, accounts receivables and payroll) and ensure compliance with accounting and financial reporting standards, as well as legal and regulatory requirements for Kenya and the USA
• Evaluate and implement financial systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency
• Oversee the preparation of budgets, financial statements, and other financial reports
• Develop and manage the organization's risk management
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of young professionals 

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of relevant experience, and willing to be hands on.
• Strong technical accounting experience covering financial accounting, management accounting, budget creation and monitoring, financial analysis, and reporting, preferably within a not for profit.
• Experience of working in a start-up or of establishing a finance function is strongly desirable.
• Experience of leading a finance function, including providing financial analysis & insight  and strategic advice to aid decision making.

This is a remote role, although they would be open to someone working from their office.

They anticipate the role will require 2 days/week, perhaps with more time required initially to set up the finance function and then at important times in the year, including year-end.

Our partner is a leading environmental organisation with impactful programmes in PNG. They are seeking a Finance Director to oversee the finance function; provide strategic analysis and advisory support; and to lead through succession planning and capacity strengthening within the country office. 

Responsibilities

• Financial oversight of the programme – this includes ensuring that there is a strong control environment across the HQ and regional offices, that policies and guidelines are properly understood and implemented, properly manage and account for income, and monitor banking, cash and cash advances and expenditure.
• Prepare and submit the annual accounts & statutory returns, ensuring that these are compliant with local laws and requirements.
• Financial management – creation and review of the organisational budget, oversee the monthly close and reconciliations, and prepare financial & KPI reports, and cashflow management.
• Grants compliance, management and reporting – supporting in budget creation for new grants proposals, monitoring expenditure versus grants income, ensuring that all project finance activities are compliant with grants requirements, providing financial oversight to sub-grantees, and preparing donor/grants reports.
• Undertaking due diligence on, and overseeing compliance and reporting from sub-grantees, supporting them with capacity building as required..
• Lead in the preparation of donor and other local audits, ensuring that the organisation is tax & legally compliant to the regulations in PNG.
• Assess and mitigate financial risks, safeguard the organisational asset.
• Coaching and building confidence and capacity of the local finance team.

Requirements

• A bachelors degree in accounting or finance; additionally an MBA or an accounting qualification is strongly preferred.
• Senior finance professional with at least five years of experience of leading the country finance function of a charity that is complex, both in terms of projects, but also portfolio of funding. Previous experience of working in a complex environment such as PNG is desirable.
• Willing to be hands on, alongside offering strategic advisory support.
• Strong technical accounting, financial management, reporting and grants compliance, management and reporting experience.
• Significant experience in the compliance and management of grants from institutional donors, including the US and European governments.
• Experience of developing a team, and building capacity of finance staff and staff in partner/sub-grantee organisations.
• Effective communicator.

Role overview:

After two years of coalition-building with partners, we have developed a network of relationships with human rights activists and groups in El Salvador, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, the Philippines and elsewhere. We are looking for a strong organiser and human rights advocate to continue building this network and help other groups organise to create impact.

We aim to facilitate civil society groups’ engagement with UN and regional human rights bodies, support grassroots-led research projects through small grants, and facilitate collaborations on shared advocacy projects.

This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the work of the Eastern Africa Human Rights Assistant (EAHRA).

Person specification:

· Degree in law, human rights, public policy, international development or another relevant field.

· Fluency in spoken and written Spanish as well as English.

· A minimum of 4 years of experience in international human rights advocacy or relevant community organising, including at least some experience in building or leading coalitions.

· Experience in designing and implementing effective plans to achieve reforms.

· Familiarity with the social and political landscape of at least one country in Latin America.

· A record of drafting and publishing human rights analyses or advocacy documents.

· A strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace, and solid experience of work in multi-cultural environments.

Senior Fundraiser

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (UK charity number 1146220)

Friends of Ibba Girls School, South Sudan (FIGS), was established in 2011 in response to a specific request from local community leaders to help them build and develop a girls’ residential school in South Sudan.  Ibba Girls Boarding School (IGBS) now educates 360 primary and secondary school girls from across the whole of Western Equatoria State and employs 40 staff (teachers, matrons, cooks and other support staff). The school is on a large, green campus and provides not only high-quality teaching but a visible demonstration of the benefits of school education in South Sudan, where most girls leave school before the end of primary and very few achieve secondary qualifications.  FIGS is a relatively small organization but it is making a substantial impact by providing a model of good quality girls’ schooling across South Sudan.

FIGS has achieved notable successes – the school which opened in 2014, initially with 40 girls, has now reached its full size of 360 girls, with excellent exam results and has reduced dropout from school. It is nurturing empowered women who can exercise leadership locally and nationally for this newly independent nation. FIGS works closely with the experienced and widely-acclaimed Windle Trust International, who provide technical financial and organizational support to the school in South Sudan. 

FIGS has raised about £4 million over the last 10 years, particularly through relational fundraising.  Running costs for a boarding school in South Sudan are around £ 1/3 million each year, so fundraising is a key task for FIGS.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced fundraiser with a strong and demonstrable track record to play a crucial role in expanding the donor base of FIGS, while sustaining and engaging the large network of existing supporters and donors.  You will lead the fundraising work and will use your skills across a wide range of fundraising functions, including expanding the number and range of individuals, corporates, philanthropists, schools, churches, legacies and trusts. 

We need the help of a talented individual to implement FIGS’ fundraising strategy and action plan, working with those Trustees who are able to give some time to fundraising and with solid help from a part-time fundraising consultant.  There is plenty to enjoy in the varied work, where one can see visible results in the impact it has on the school, its students and staff, parents and communities across Western Equatoria State and across the nation of South Sudan.

The post can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis (where part-time is at least 3 days a week).  It will be on a self-employed consultancy basis.  Hours can be flexible by arrangement. The person will work mainly from home, liaising online with Trustees and others, but some travel to events in London and elsewhere will be needed on an occasional basis. We are looking for someone to start as soon as mutually convenient. A contract will be one year in the first instance, and can be renewed subject to satisfactory performance.  The remuneration as a self-employed person is in the range of £35-42K dependent on track record and experience (or pro rata). 

Key responsibilities

· To support the delivery of the fundraising plan, achieving or exceeding targets and KPIs, both financial and non-financial as agreed with the Chair of FIGS Trustees and Chair of its fundraising group.

· To identify and generate new fundraising opportunities, from the corporate and philanthropic sectors, as well as from organizations, groups and individuals

· To widen the existing network of donors, based on relationship development and management and engagement with existing supporters and donors, and creating new opportunities

· To generate a pipeline of activities across a range of fund-raising streams

· Develop strong relationships with all external stakeholders. 

· Produce progress reports for FIGS Trustees about fundraising in relation to targets and budget and make recommendations for future streams of work.

· Attend key fundraising and supporter events to generate significant income, support and profile.

· Be an ambassador for FIGS.

· Ensure fundraising activities are in line with FIGS’ values and policies, relevant legislation and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice.

Labour Behind the Label's Advocacy Lead is responsible for engaging with key stakeholders in campaigns to call for better conditions in the garment industry and pushing our message in the media. They take part in LBL’s outward facing work, delivering lobbying and campaigns, and designing actions to push brands and policy decision makers to improve conditions.

You will join Labour Behind the Label - a small but mighty garment workers' rights campaign, working as part of a global network of unions and worker rights groups on the ground in garment producing countries to improve conditions in fashion supply chains. Our workers' co-op is a flat structure organisation where you get to work alongside a small of team of colleagues to shape campaigns and directly make a difference.

Campaigns and Policy

• Design and participate in delivery of UK-wide campaigns strategies to call for better rights and conditions in clothing production facilities worldwide, alongside other staff

• Lobby companies and policy decision makers to push for corporate and legislative solutions

• Write policy reports, articles and briefings, and create campaign materials

• Organise seminars and events with brands and policy decision makers on key campaigning issues

• Organise, with team members, demonstrations and online actions for supporters to take to push brands and decision makers on key campaigning issues.

• Participate in international working groups as necessary
   

Communications

• Lead on press work, including representing Labour Behind the Label in the media, writing and sending press releases, logging media coverage and responding to media enquiries where relevant.

• Build LBL’s press list and relationships with journalists

• Write campaigns communications towards supporters, including online supporter mailings and updating the website regularly with new content.
   

Urgent Appeals (1 day)

• Work with the Clean Clothes Campaign and international partners to respond to urgent appeals

• Log ongoing cases, and liaise with partners to ensure effective strategies are built

• Lobby companies, policy decision makers, or relevant institutions about urgent appeals

• Develop and deliver mini campaigns to see resolutions to urgent appeal calls
   

Other Tasks

• Project and budget management

• Work with other staff to identify opportunities for grants and funding, and to report back on outputs and costs to funders as relevant

• Writing and inputting into relevant areas of the website, social media and publications

• Participate in team meetings and undertake organisational management tasks as appropriate

Job Summary

We expect this role to focus on developing and maintaining relationships with key funders, stakeholders, institutions and individuals. It will undertake work to secure funding, resources and partnerships for both Shared Assets and the wider land justice movement, and to raise the profile and reputation of Shared Assets.

The role will have responsibility for securing core funding for Shared Assets from trusts, foundations and high net worth individuals, and for supporting colleagues to secure grant and commercial funding for consultancy, research, movement building and communications projects. It will have responsibility for reporting on core grants and providing quality control for colleagues for their bids, tenders and funder reports. As part of this work the role will play a key part in providing intelligence and foresight to contribute to the organisation’s strategy and business planning. 

Beyond securing consistent core funding for Shared Assets the role will also work with funders and others to secure longer term resourcing of the wider land movement in order to deliver our collective ambitions for a just and sustainable land system. 

As part of a self managing organisation all team members are expected to contribute to the day to day management of the organisation through participation in management circles, team days and working groups.

Main Responsibilities

Fundraising and resourcing

• Develop and maintain relationships with funders to fund work that seeks to support common good land use and to create a more just and sustainable land system. 

• Work with the team to ensure we maintain a healthy pipeline of bids and tenders in order to meet income generation targets across the organisation. 

• Work with the wider land justice movement and funders to secure significant, consistent and long term resourcing for the wider land movement, working in ways that are open and transparent to, and inclusive of, the wider movement and which will help to deliver systemic change that meets our collective objectives for a more just and sustainable land system. 

Stakeholder relationships

• Develop and maintain relationships with key partner organisations in order to build an understanding of the wider context and system in which we are working in order to inform our strategic development and to identify opportunities for future partnership working. To understand where Shared Assets is valued and effective, and where it may need to adapt and change.

General

• Participate in the Funding & Finance circle, participate in relevant work groups and liaise with other circles where appropriate. 

• Contribute to communications and raise the profile of the organisation - in particular working closely with the Communications Coordinator on external messaging with respect to Shared Assets and the wider land movement.

• Provide reports and information for the board as required.

• Provide support to colleagues where needed, including in the running of events, training and other activities.

• Participate in and contribute to the development of Shared Assets as an organisation, including involvement in collective decision making, being accountable to policies, and helping improve those policies where relevant.

• Any other duties as may be required in a small organisation.
