Partnership and Strategy Manager - Western Forest

The Partnerships and Strategy Manager at Western Forest will be responsible for managing and nurturing partnership relations across the Western Forest area. This role ensures that all partners are supported and resourced to develop and deliver the collective vision of the forest, helping to achieve key targets. The manager will work closely with national and regional organisations, Local Planning Authorities (LPAs), landowners, corporate partners, and developers to create strategic plans, secure significant projects, and develop long-term collaborative relationships. They will also assist with funding applications and support the Western Forest Director in establishing new partnerships.

Salary: £36,750-40,171, with annual pay review

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, with flexible working hours

Head of Funding and Green Finance - Western Forest

This is a rare, unique and exciting opportunity to take a lead role in developing the programme and setting the strategic path for the Western Forest – the first new national forest in over 30 years.

The Western Forest is a brand-new programme launched, with national and Ministerial profile, in March 2025. The Forest will support over 2.5 million people, cultivating a greener, more connected future by creating a landscape with trees and woodlands at its heart. The Western Forest will deliver landscape scale change and real green investment, connecting people and nature across three regions – Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the West of England (including North Somerset).

The Western Forest’s Head of Funding and Green Finance will drive, direct and manage the delivery of a diverse range of funding sources to deliver the new national forest. They will ensure the development of sustainable income streams and models of delivery by 2030. This role will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Western Forest’s fundraising strategy to generate £13mn or more in additional income over the next five years to ensure effective long-term delivery of our strategic plan.

Reporting directly to the Western Forest Director, the Head of Funding and Green Finance plays a key role, helping to set the direction for the Western Forest.

Salary: £50,000-50,146, with annual pay review

Financial Controls and Policies

• Support the District Treasurer to implement proper financial policies and controls, ensuring appropriate accounting codes for churches and charities are complied with.

Budgets and Accounts

• Assist the District Secretary, Treasurer and Resourcing Mission Committee to prepare budget and circuit assessments for the District with reference to the District Mission Plan.
• Work with the District Secretary and Treasurer to prepare annual accounts for the District, including liaising with the auditors and helping to draft the Trustees’ Annual Report, particularly with regard to accounting practice and policies.
• Support the District Secretary as needed to ensure compliance with the Methodist Church and Charity Commission requirements, including supplying the information for HMRC P11D forms.

Payroll

• Ensure District employees’ and ministers’ payroll information is correct and liaise with the central Methodist payroll bureau so that staff are paid on time.

Administration of Bank Accounts

• Monitor cash flow and administer transfers between bank accounts.
• Set up approved payments in online banking and liaise with signatories to authorise these for payment.
• Liaise with the Treasurer and/or District Secretary on transactions with the Central Finance Board and Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes, preparing paperwork to facilitate drawdown of funds.
• Administer changes to banking mandates.
• Administer changes to Direct Debits and Standing Order instructions.

Receipts and Payments/Book-keeping

• Check invoices and expenses claims for accuracy, before sending to authorised persons for approval.

The Woodland and Nature Recovery Manager at Western Forest will manage the delivery of high-quality forestry, woodland and nature recovery activities within the Western Forest. This role ensures that all initiatives are aligned with the Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) and focuses on woodland creation, agroforestry and sustainable forest management. The manager will oversee a team of five officers, based primarily within partnership organisations, and work closely with England’s Community Forests and many other partners to maximise impact.

This role will enable the sharing of expertise across the Western Forest area.

A key focus will be to work with partners across the region to seek out opportunities to create large scale woodland creation projects that will deliver at landscape scale. These new projects will seek alternative funding streams that will generate a variety of activities such as tree planting, timber production and biodiversity protection.

Bereavement Support Services Lead (Digital). This is a rewarding and key role in the Bereavement Support Services team. The team provides a wide range of services, including the Helpline, Online Community, memory making, and print materials. The aim of this post is to provide operational and line management so that the BSS team can provide consistent, high-quality emotional support to bereaved families who seek support from Sands, as well as supervising the work of the Bereavement Support Officers on the frontline. As our digital support continues to grow and develop, we are looking for someone to support and inspire the team in this expanding area, working closely with Sands’ Bereavement Support Digital Coordinator. The Bereavement Support Services Team offers 1-2-1 support via telephone, email and other digital channels, and is usually open from 10-3 from Monday to Friday and 6-9pm from Tuesday to Thursday with occasional extended opening hours. Support is also available through digital channels; our Online Community, direct messenger on Instagram and Facebook and various closed groups on Facebook which need to be regularly monitored and moderated to provide a safe, user-led space accessible to all. In future a wider range of channels may be used. There are three Bereavement Support Leads (BSLs) including this post holder, and between them they are expected to cover all regular opening hours on a rota basis. Each shift will start 30 minutes before the helpline opens and end 30 minutes after the helpline closes, and BSLs will divide up the week in order to be present during shifts and ensure at least one BSL or the Head of BSS is available to the team 9am-4pm Monday to Friday and 5.30pm-9.30pm Tuesday to Thursday for safeguarding and general support. The role will be split between operational management of the BSS team, line management of BSSOs, supporting and contributing to other strands of bereavement support work, as well as some direct work on all of the support channels.

As Legacy Marketing Lead, you'll drive our flagship Legacy Awareness Campaign across multiple channels-TV, radio, digital, and print. You'll lead on free Will services with Farewill and the National Free Wills Network, shaping supporter journeys to increase gift inclusion rates.

About the role:

This role is based at our West Bromwich office with the option of hybrid working from home. Travel across the area is required, travelling time is within working hours & expenses are reimbursed. The hours for this role are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4pm and Friday 12pm to 8pm.

As a Caseworker you will:

• Effectively managing a caseload, delivering excellent services via telephone, video call and in person to support service users
• Assessing need and risk at initial contact and on an on-going basis
• Developing, delivering, and monitoring safety and support plans for those affected by crime, who accept ongoing support. Support will include providing resources, interventions, and information to all service users
• Helping service users build healthy coping mechanisms and providing practical support and information
• Identifying and providing action to safeguarding concerns
• Working collaboratively with key partners
• Using a bespoke case management system to maintain accurate and confidential records and contributing to monitoring information including the collection of outcomes
• Delivering awareness raising sessions on the impact of crime to partner agencies and community groups and participating in community events.

You will need:

• An understanding of the impact of crime
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• A proven track record of successfully delivering services and working directly within a statutory, voluntary or multi agency setting(s)
• The ability to balance competing needs and priorities
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

About the opportunity 

As Senior Business Analyst, you’ll step into an important leadership role within our Technology Directorate. You'll guide a team of Business Analysts and influence how we deliver impactful change across the Society. About you

- Strong knowledge of business analysis practices, including BABOK, Agile, PRINCE2, and software selection processes.
