We do this by building and running  high specification cinemas in hospitals, bringing the magic of the silver screen to patients young and old, for free. We are now looking to expand our Fundraising and Devlopment team in this newly created role. You will have relevant experience likely to have been gained over 1 to 3 years working in fundraising, supporter engagement, or a similar role within a charity or not-for-profit organisation. You must be confident using CRM systems such as Donorfy or similar, and in writing donor communications. Our team is passionate about the work we do and it is crucial that you have a genuine interest in the role fundraising plays in the charity sector as well as a resonance with our cause.

About the role

· Assist the Fundraising department in planning and delivering national and large-scale fundraising activities.

· Assist the Individual Giving Manager in the coordination and delivery of fundraising campaigns and initiatives including our annual Christmas Appeal, ensuring they are executed effectively and efficiently.

· Support the delivery of digital fundraising activities in line with the Fundraising Strategic Framework.

· Support the administration of the individual giving fundraising programme in collaboration with the wider team.

· Assist the Head of High Value and Individual Giving Manager to administer donor support communications.

· Ensure all donors are thanked in a timely manner via e-mail and letters and accurately recorded on our CRM.

· Maintain and update supporter and donor records within the CRM database ensuring they are accurate.

· Support the refinement of systems and processes to enhance donor experience.

· Serve as the first point of contact for Community Fundraising, including emailing and posting fundraising packs and providing fundraising guidance and advice.

· Maintain and develop our low to mid-level Trust and Foundation income, delivering applications and reporting using our Case for Support.

· Respond to general enquiries received over the phone and through the fundraising and general enquires inboxes.

· Liaise closely with colleagues across the charity to support the development of fundraising collateral and materials for fundraising activities.

As Head of Operations & Governance, you will be responsible for overseeing the back-office operations of the charity. You will be a key point of contact for the team and support the Executive Director to ensure smooth, efficient and compliant operations.

Duties and responsibilities 

• Financial Management 

• Ensure consistent delivery and quality of finance operations, including transactions processing, which will involve managing a bookkeeping service.

• Prepare and monitor annual budgets, management accounts and project budgets.

• Lead on the financial aspects of fundraising, contract management, and funder reporting. Including managing restricted and unrestricted funding. 

• Oversee the process of preparing statutory accounts, including liaising with accountants and auditors.

• Maintain internal controls and policies to protect assets, prevent fraud, and ensure business continuity. 

• Participate in the Finance & Fundraising Committee and support the Treasurer to plan and deliver meetings. 

• Prepare financial reports for board meetings and engage in board discussions.

• Manage our annual governance cycle, working closely with the Chair, Treasurer and Executive Director to ensure legal compliance and to plan and prepare for Board meetings including taking appropriate minutes.

Requirements  

• A professional qualification in finance, management, law, or a related field and at least five years’ experience relevant to this role.

Skills and attributes 

• Experience of managing charity finances and budgets (Essential). A related finance or accountancy qualification would be desirable.

About the role 

As Executive Director of Global Impact, you will lead a high-performing group of departments to build partnerships, deliver global policy and advocacy insights, increase humanitarian and development funding, and influence UK and global actors on the key issues affecting children. 

You will also play a pivotal role in championing diversity, equity and inclusion, and enabling Save the Children UK's journey towards a more human-centric, agile and impact-focused organisation. 

In this role, you will: 

• Lead and deliver a clear overall vision and strategy for Save the Children UK's international engagement, aligning closely with the broader global movement. 

• Manage and drive strategic performance across the Global Impact group to ensure focus on high-value activities that deliver measurable results for children. 

• Provide leadership to senior team members and support a culture of high autonomy, accountability, and collaboration in line with inclusive and human-centred leadership practices. 

• Oversee and ensure Save the Children's commitment to legal, ethical, and safeguarding standards across all its work. 

• Actively champion Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in all areas of leadership and decision-making to foster a culture of belonging and empowerment. 

• Shape a sustainable business model that delivers effectively on Save the Children UK's global priorities. 

About you 

To be successful, it is important that you have: 

• Excellent strategic and systems thinking, with a track record of leading teams to shape and execute ambitious goals in complex, fast-changing environments. 

• Deep expertise in global development, humanitarian issues, and/or advocacy, including working with donors, institutional actors, and global partners. 

• Strong understanding of political theories of change and proven experience achieving long-term impact through programming, policy and advocacy. 

• Demonstrated experience of leading inclusive, agile and human-centred teams, with a high degree of accountability, autonomy, and learning.

Save the Children UK is offering an exciting opportunity for a purpose-driven, collaborative, and influential leader with extensive strategic experience to join us as our Executive Director of UK Impact. In this role, you will lead our UK Impact group—comprising teams across the devolved nations, as well as the north and south of England—to ensure that families have the resources, services, and power they need to end child poverty.

This is a critical and growing area of our work, and we are committed to deepening our investment and expanding our impact across the UK. 

You will also oversee our Public Affairs, Campaigns and Organising, and Child & Youth Participation departments. Working collaboratively across Save the Children UK and with external partners to deliver lasting, systemic change for children and families. 

This is a permanent hybrid role, based out of our London Farringdon office. The nature of this role is likely to require a presence in our offices or with partners 3 days a week.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment

• Support with recruitment and selection as required. This includes placing adverts, scheduling interviews, requesting references, coordinating induction plans etc.
• Coordinate all documentations for recruits. This includes preparing offer letters and employment contracts, new starter documents.

Volunteer coordination

• Liaise with the Volunteer Lead to process volunteer applications.
• Liaise with the Volunteer Lead to process work experience applications.

These includes Microsoft forms, reference checks and entering data on Chairty Log.

Diversity and Inclusion

• Conduct diversity monitoring for all recruitment applications.

Compliance and Training

• Process and monitor DBS for staff and volunteers.
• Upload new starters on our learning managing system for mandatory training.
• Coordinate and provide administrative support in the delivery of internal and external staff training including, recording attendance, booking external speakers / trainers.

​HR Administration

• Process starters, leavers and changes on HR Information System (Staffology).
• Monitor the HR and recruitment mailbox, responding to queries and signposting emails to HR Manager.
• Respond to reference requests.
• In the absence of HR Manager: Conduct HR induction for newly recruited staff. Provide up to date payroll information to the Finance team and submit monthly pensions payment.
• Assist the HR Manager in developing and maintaining a comprehensive set of HR policies and ensure that all staff know how to access these

About Listening Books

Listening Books is a UK charity providing an audiobook lending service to children and adults who cannot access printed books due to illness, disability, learning or mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

About the role

Listening Books provides membership across the UK, with a subsidised membership fee of £25 per year for individuals, and free membership to those who cannot afford to pay a fee. The service is provided directly to individuals, but also through working with hospices, children’s hospitals, care homes and schools.

The Membership and Marketing Assistant will work within the Membership and PR team to help expand awareness of the charity’s work and increase membership in line with the PR and Marketing Strategy.

The Person we are looking for 

We are looking for someone with a passion for books and accessibility, who will enjoy the opportunities and challenges of working in a small organisation. 

This role is mainly focused around maintaining our social media accounts, using these tools to grow and engage our membership, so you’ll enjoy creating appropriate content and interacting with people online. Regular tasks include running an online book group and hosting author interviews, writing blogs, creating partnerships with other charities (for online activities, sharing of information etc) and helping the membership team with designing leaflets, posters and other content. 

As this is a part time role (21 hours per week), you’ll need to manage and divide your time consistently and effectively to meet your recruitment and marketing objectives. Excellent time management is essential.  You’ll have a good understanding of social media best practices and awareness of accessibility standards for content creation, as well as being equally comfortable speaking to members and partners on the phone, online or in person. 

The ideal candidate will have a friendly, can-do attitude, excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and improve their skills, as well as a desire to help more people access books.  In return, we can offer you 20 days holiday (pro-rata and rising with service), as well as a generous pension scheme.  This is a part time role, and working hours can be flexible, within reason, to fit around parenting, caring responsibilities or other lifestyle choices.
