At Working Options, we are keenly aware that talent exists in all parts of society, and yet opportunities are not available to all. We aim to help all young people in the UK to transform their career and life chances. In 2024 we delivered in-person activities for 73,000 young people and engaged 2.5 million with digital content. We are proud of the impact our small, dedicated team has, and we can only achieve this success with committed volunteers, schools and funding partners who value the services we offer.
We were founded in Luton in 2012, and in 2024 following a generous grant from the Moondance Foundation we launched our work in Wales. So far, we have supported 20,000 Welsh students in a quarter of Welsh secondary schools. By 2029 we aim to be working in all state secondary schools across the country.
We are looking for a strategic lead to take our work in Wales to the next level. With oversight of our Wales Accelerator, the postholder will develop relationships with funders, media, government, and other key players to open doors for our work across Wales. You will listen and respond to local needs to direct our operational work on the ground.
Success in this role will be measured by our increased profile, new partnerships and income secured to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of our work in Wales.
We are flexible about whether this is a full-time or part-time position. The postholder will work closely with me and our Trustees, our key Advisors and Ambassadors (high-profile and well-connected individuals from a range of sectors), as well as our Head of Programme and delivery team for Wales. Your contribution to our work will be critical to our success, maximising the number of businesses, individuals and schools joining our movement to help all young people in Wales achieve career success.

Director of Finance and Operations
The Akshaya Patra Foundation UK
Salary: £60,000-£70,000 per annum
Remote (UK-based) with expensed travel to London
Full-time, permanent
Akshaya Patra is one of the world’s largest school meals charities – nourishing 2.35 million children in India every day and now expanding our impact across the UK.
Our UK after-school programme, Empower Hour, provides hot, nutritious meals and targeted tuition to children growing up in poverty – extending the school day by 60 minutes to give them the fuel, support and enrichment they need to thrive.
What began in one school in 2024 is already serving ten, and – alongside driving continued expansion in India – we are now ready to scale our delivery to reach thousands more children across the UK’s most disadvantaged communities.
To help lead this exciting phase of growth, we are seeking a Director of Finance and Operations – a senior leader who combines strong financial stewardship with operational leadership and is motivated by purpose as much as performance.
You will sit on the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO, and oversee two core portfolios:
- Programmes – overseeing Watford kitchen operations, Empower Hour delivery and holiday hunger initiatives.
- Finance and Resources – leading financial planning and reporting, systems, compliance, HR development and organisational infrastructure.
This role will suit someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and practical implementation – someone who finds energy in building strong foundations and helping a values-led organisation grow well.
You may have built your career in charity, education, food provision, public services, the private sector or elsewhere – but you will bring:
- Senior-level experience across finance, operations or programme delivery.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of charity governance and compliance.
- A collaborative leadership style – supporting, challenging and uplifting those you lead.
- Deep alignment with our mission to fight child hunger and educational inequality.
What we offer:
- Flexible and remote working.
- 34 days’ leave (25 days annual leave + Diwali + English bank holidays).
- Employer pension contribution.
- Investment in professional and vocational development.
- A meaningful leadership role in a growing global movement – empowering children in both the UK and India.
How to apply:
- Download the full job description and application details here or on our website.
- Please send your CV and a cover letter to the email address in the applicant pack outlining both your suitability for the role and what attracts you to Akshaya Patra and our mission.
- Closing date: Monday 3 November 2025.
If you believe no child should be held back by hunger – and you have the leadership skills and desire to help grow an organisation that makes that possible – we would love to hear from you.

Camp Jojo is currently in transition. Over the first 8 years it has worked from one established site in Mersea, Essex; but we are now opening a second site near Appleby in Cumbria. The role of Program Manager will work across the whole organisation, towards the successful development of the values and the proven model in a second site; and its partnership with the Essex site will be an important part of the role.
Camp Jojo is growing from a young, largely trustee led, organisation to a staff team led organisation. Again this role will be a fundamental part of that transition. This is a predominantly an operational post, and not responsible for the finances of organisation, though it will deliver operations within the board approved budget. They will also sit on, or chair, several of the Committees of the charity; including the Senior Operations Team.
The role will offer leadership to key functions of Camp Jojo, Camp Jojo staff and contractors, and to members of the Camp Jojo Board, in relation to the work of the charity. Whilst the majority of the work will be remote the incumbent will be required to attend some meetings and events in person, including at both sites. They will also be required to attend at least part of the actual camp events. They may need to work flexibly, according to the seasonal demands of the charity.
The Program Manager will have a varied and sometimes high-pace job environment. As such, they will need to handle multiple tasks, manage their own time well, interact professionally with the Camp Jojo community and be very good communicators. They will deal with model consistency, values, and operational issues across both sites.
Please use your cover letter to provide as much evidence as possible to show how your skills, abilities,
knowledge and experience meet each of the criteria in the role. Please provide examples which are
relevant to this role.
Please note, while we appreciate the value of AI tools, we strongly prefer that applicants prepare their
supporting statements with minimal use of AI. This helps us to better understand your authentic voice,
skills and motivation for this role. Thank you.
