This role can be based in any of our UK locations; Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, or Warrington. You will be required to attend the office for a minimum of 2 days per week with the option to work remotely for the remaining 3 days.

About the role

As a Social Media Officer at Christian Aid, you will help shape and manage our social media presence across platforms, driving engagement and raising awareness of our mission. You'll develop and execute a dynamic strategy to grow our audience and support our fundraising and advocacy work. Collaborating with teams across the organisation, you will create compelling content for our diverse audiences, including supporters, partners, and the faith community.

In this role, you will oversee day-to-day management of multiple social channels, using analytics to optimise content reach and inspire engagement. Additionally, you'll provide guidance and training to colleagues, helping them maximise their social media impact.

Key Responsibilities

Spear Foundation

• Recruit young people onto the course and prepare them to engage.
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions for up to 15 young people to transform their attitudes and readiness to step into the world of work.
• Work with volunteers to deliver one-to-one weekly sessions to check-in on individual progress, guide and motivate them.
• Build relationships with the young people and keep them engaged.

Spear Career

• Maintain contact with trainees and continue relationships with them to keep track of their progress into employment and encourage them.
• Maintain records through data gathering and data entry into Salesforce.

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses and other organisations.
• Participate in job fairs, run taster sessions, recruit and support volunteers for mock interview days, and welcome visitors to the centre.

Church community

• Fully engage with the Trinity and St Paul’s staff teams, including participation in staff prayers, socials and retreat days.
• Be an advocate for the Spear Programme within the life of the church, including the recruitment of volunteers.

About the role 

You’ll be responsible for the operational delivery of newly diagnosed activities and events. You’ll contribute to planning, monitoring, reviewing and taking action to maintain quality research.

• Manage the marketing and promotion of the programme to increase its reach.

An experienced fundraising or marketing professional or consultant with a proven track record of developing and implementing Legacy and In Memory campaigns aimed at creating awareness, inspiring action and ultimately helping to secure future Legacy and In Memory gifts for the Macular Society.

You’ll be familiar with and comfortable analysing data and insights that inform decision making and approaches towards legacy and in memory marketing, ensuring these activities are well targeted and effective, using a range of channels.

Once secured, you’ll also be passionate about providing the best possible supporter experience, understanding motivations and reflecting them in a way that brings people closer to the cause and encouraging future support.

Leading a team of two experienced Legacy and In Memory Fundraising Officers, you’ll support this talent by providing opportunities for learning and development.

You’ll play a vital role in collecting and delivering donations, furniture, and goods across our shops and warehouse — helping us raise vital funds for the care we provide. This is a practical, hands-on role involving heavy lifting, teamwork, and excellent customer service.

 What you’ll be doing:

• Working closely with the Distribution team to collect and deliver goods across multiple sites
• Handling stock transfers between our warehouse and shops
• Collecting eBay items and paperwork from shops for processing
• Supporting shops with rubbish collection and recycling where needed
• Delivering daily sandwiches from the Hospice to Darent Vally Hospital
• Providing cover for our second van during staff leave or sickness, including collections and deliveries
• Ensuring safe loading, lifting, and moving of items in line with health and safety guidance
• Representing the charity with professionalism and care, offering great customer service in every interaction
