Key Responsibilities for this role

• To support the Service manager in managing a team of staff providing person centred care to people with learning disabilities, Mental health heath and sensory support needs living in our 4 supported living houses, ensuring that the staff feel recognised for their work, development and accomplishments.

About you

As the Service Manager for our night shelter service, you’ll be at the heart of Glass Door’s mission, delivering the largest network of night shelters in the UK.  This pivotal role offers you the chance to make a real difference by managing a dedicated team across multiple sites, ensuring high-quality, consistent service that supports our guests to build a route out of homelessness.  We’re looking for a dynamic, proactive leader with a passion for problem-solving and a compassionate service delivery.

What you will do as part of our team

The Service Manager is responsible for the following:

Service delivery 

· Lead all aspects of the planning, preparation, and delivery of the night shelter service. 

· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service, directly engaging with staff and guests to ensure high-quality service delivery. 

· Ensure operational policies are consistently followed, providing guests with a reliable and uniform service experience. 

· Manage the rota across three night shelters to maintain adequate staffing at all times. 

· Manage a fleet of three vehicles used for the night shelters, ensuring their availability and maintenance. 

· Ensure all staff are fully aware of service provisions, requirements, and expectations. 

· Lead the continuous improvement of the shelter service to better meet guest needs. 

· Ensure due diligence is performed, and that reporting and records are accurately maintained. 

· Collaborate with the Head of Operations & Service Development to keep expenditures and income within agreed budget limits. 

· Liaise with casework colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration between night shelter and casework staff. 

· Ensure the night shelters are aligned with other statutory and charity services to best meet the needs of our guests. 

· Conduct and maintain annual general and fire risk assessments for each shelter venue; actively maintain the service-level risk register and contribute to organisational risk register. 

· Promptly raise concerns and safeguarding issues in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

· Ensure policies and procedures are up-to-date with annual reviews, and provide staff with training and guidance on compliance and best practices. 

Management 

· Manage and supervise a seasonal staff team of approximately 40 individuals. 

· Oversee the full employee lifecycle management, including: recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management. 

· Lead the recruitment and training of seasonal shelter staff. 

· Provide high-quality support and line management to night shelter staff, delivering clear guidance, support, and effective leadership. 

· Ensure excellent performance management, support, and supervision of Night Shelter Managers and staff, including monitoring annual leave and addressing performance issues in line with Glass Door’s policies. 

· Empower seasonal managers to deliver high-quality, safe support and effective guest management in accordance with Glass Door policies and procedures. 

· Regularly monitor the quality of support and service by conducting site visits to the night shelters. 

· Organise and deliver a comprehensive training programme for shelter staff. 

· Facilitate regular supervision and team meetings to promote effective teamwork and communication. 

· Ensure the In-form system is utilised efficiently by shelter staff, with timely updates to reports, and prompt, accurate record-keeping. 

· Provide timely support, advice, and guidance to staff as needed. 

Service Development and Planning  

· Play a lead role in the annual planning of the night shelter service and contribute to the annual services business plan. 

· Drive the achievement of organisational targets and objectives as outlined in Glass Door’s business plan. 

Additional  

· Cultivate positive relationships with guests, staff, professionals, partners, suppliers, and the local community.

· To undertake any other duties that can be reasonably required to meet the operational needs of Glass Door.

About the role:

Job Purpose

This role sits within our crisis alternative service, Safe Space, which is a core and out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. Our aim of the service is to keep individuals well in the community and prevent readmission into hospital. The service operates 365 days a year from 14:00-22:00pm across all of our boroughs.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone or virtual on a one-to-one basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis or preventing crisis.

The objectives of the service include:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health and social crisis in HFEH.
• To proactively work with keeping people well in the community to reduce re-admitters into hospitals by working with WL NHS teams (e.g. discharge, LPS, CATT, MINT and SPA)
• To provide a true alternative to A&E via a non-clinical drop-in service to support clients
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation and crisis recovery planning.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support

The Role

The role of the team manager will be to support the rest of the team in delivering interventions on a one-to-one. The role will also involve triaging and assessing all clients accessing the service, signposting and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The role will also include line management and supervision of senior support workers and support workers within the service. Team managers are responsible for management of their site; including report writing, audits and being the named manager for the site and allocated borough following the borough-based approach. Job Title: Support Mentor (Nights)

Location: Latimer Road, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) - Short walking distance from Latimer Road underground station (Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines)

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a 6 week rolling rota which includes at least one day shift per week, weekends, and bank holidays. Hours can vary between 21:00 - 09:00 and 11:00 - 20:00

About the role

Our residents in this service have experienced long-term street homelessness and have faced significant challenges including with their mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency, and struggled to sustain engagement with support services. That's why they're here, to make a change and gain the support they need to enable greater independence and recovery.

As a Support Mentor, you will work within a 24 hour service which provides person centred support to our residents, you will work to ensure safety and wellbeing of our residents. You will support mainly the night shifts to ensure the service runs smoothly at night, being a point of contact for residents, engaging with them to ensure their safety comes first, and running various evening activities for engagement. You will build trusting and professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through one to one sessions, group sessions, and general wellbeing check ins. During quieter hours, you will be responsible for ensuring administration is up to date, the service is kept clean and tidy, and will support with additional ad hoc tasks. 

About you

We're looking for someone who has a true passion for what we do as an organisation, and particularly in supporting those who have faced homelessness and may have other complex needs. Our residents needs are at the forefront of service delivery, so someone who can build trusting professional relationships is key. You will be adaptable, proactive, and able to use your initiative to resolve challenges, and keep the night service running smoothly. You will be able to work within a team, and have previous knowledge of the needs our residents may have. Each support plan is tailored to the individual, putting their needs first for the team to be able to deliver support to their needs. What are we looking for:

SANE is a UK-wide mental health charity working to improve the quality of life of anyone affected by mental illness. It aims to raise awareness and understanding of all mental health conditions; fight to improve frontline mental health services for individuals and carers; provide support, information and guidance through SANEline, our Call Back service, email and text support. SANE also promotes and host research into causes, treatments and therapies through its Prince of Wales International Centre for SANE research.

About the role:

We are looking for a compassionate and committed Youth Support and Project Officer to join our SANEline Services team with a dedicated focus on supporting young people affected by mental health.
 

In this role you will;

- Deliver emotional support and to both adults and young people

- Shape and lead on a youth helpline and/or written service

- Liaise with external agencies and services

- Help build and shape youth focused services at SANE

You will bring;

- Experience of supporting young people with mental health needs ideally in complex situations

- Strong safeguarding knowledge

- A trauma informed, empathetic and resilient approach to support

- The ability to build trust and rapport with young people and families

Salary: £30,000-32,000 per annum, depending on experience

Strategic Leadership:

• Design, drive and deliver MAF’s Philanthropy and Partnerships strategy to significantly grow income and deepen engagement

We’re looking for someone to coordinate our complex casework, supporting the individuals involved, seeking out, organising and creating relevant documentation, and liaising with other people and organisations involved in the case.

Your work will be primarily based within our Advocacy Service, where you’ll work with people who have been discriminated against because they stammer. The individuals seeking support from this service are often distressed by what has happened to them and need emotional support. Alongside that emotional support, to work out how best to help them and to effectively challenge what has happened, you will need to get detailed descriptions of what has happened, evidence and documentation, follow up with the person and relevant organisations regularly, and liaise with our team of legal advisors. You will also need to lead or attend occasional meetings with representatives from other organisations.

BACKGROUND

STAMMA is a forward thinking, innovative and mission-led charity punching above its weight, with a forensic focus on realigning attitudes and understanding of stammering, so that a stammer is accepted simply as a difference. We’ve a new strategic plan, supported by the National Lottery, so now couldn’t be a better time to join.

The aim of the caseworker role work is to support individuals in effectively challenging instances of discrimination. Further, the Advocacy Service seeks to use these instances as a route to working with systems and organisations to create ways of working that are more inclusive for employees, service users and customers who stammer.

The Advocacy Service is coordinated by Kirsten Howells, STAMMA’s Director of Services, and supported by a small team of dedicated volunteers.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Working knowledge of the Equality Act (2010) in relation to disability and the Disability Discrimination Act (1995, NI).
• Good understanding of stammering and the barriers people who stammer face in society.
• Good comprehension skills in written English, and ability to read long complex documentation.
• Ability to represent complex information in a simpler way.
• Attention to detail.
• Tenacity and ability to follow-up with individuals regularly.
• Experience of providing emotional support to individuals.
• Sufficiently comfortable to work via email, online meetings and to use the phone (so that you can use the communication route which is most comfortable or appropriate for service users).

Desirable

• It would be brilliant if you stammer, but not essential.
• It would be useful if you are a speech and language therapist with experience working with children and adults who stammer, but not essential.
• Demonstrable history working in a similar role within the charity/NGO sector.

Soft skills

• Good interpersonal skills.
• Strong listening skills.
• Ability to say ‘no’ whilst still offering emotional support.
• Able to manage and prioritise workload within deadlines.
• Capable of working as part of team and on own initiative.

DUTIES

Case management

• Be the initial point of contact for new cases coming into the Advocacy Service.
• Gather detailed case information and documentation
• Support and develop the volunteer team in becoming key points of contact for individuals in straightforward cases.
• Be the primary point of contact for individuals in complex cases.
• Review complex documentation and prepare case summaries for our legal team.
• Liaise with our team of legal advisors to seek guidance in relevant cases.
• Attend case-related online meetings with service users.
•  Advocate for service users in meetings with employers or other organisations.
• Present pros and cons of different actions and support service users to make informed choices about what actions they want to take in their case.
• Take on complex cases in STAMMA’s Employment and Helpline Services when required.

Reporting & tracking

• Work with Director of Services to create tracking and reporting systems for cases.
• Gather feedback from service users.
• Monitor and analyse service performance, to support a culture of improvement. 
• Develop 4 ‘impact stories’ highlighting the difference the Advocacy Service has made to service users and organisations. 

Ongoing

• Work with Communication & Content Lead to promote the Advocacy Service to STAMMA’s membership.

BENEFITS

STAMMA offers a flexible working environment, with an office near Covent Garden, or you may work from home, and time off in lieu is available for those working extra hours.  The charity matches up to 8% towards a Pension Scheme.  All staff are required to attend six-weekly team meetings at the London office.

Holiday entitlement
Attractive holiday package totalling 28 days pa, including Christmas closure, plus Bank Holidays.  Pro rata for part time staff. We close from Christmas to the New Year for all staff.

Flexible working
We have an office in London which you can work from full or part time.  Otherwise, staff meet virtually at noon on Thursdays, and physically every 6-8 weeks or so in London.  Occasionally, you may be asked to work weekends and evenings to attend online or in person events but will be offered time off in lieu.

Pension
Nest pension scheme.  STAMMA will pay a minimum contribution of 5% and will match contributions up to 8%.  Employees must pay a minimum of 5%.
