You’ll join our cross-functional Product & Engineering team to build and improve the digital platforms that teachers and pupils rely on every day. We are seeking a Business Development Manager to help us realise our plans to secure a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from, according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

Our Commercial Team

Currently we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 175+ member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide, but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

This is a long term aim of ours – we are seeking to build the commercial team with this role and while it is initially a 12 month contract, our hope is that with the role in place we can generate the income to sustain and build on it.

Main purpose of role: 

• Support the delivery of commercial projects across the library sector
• Lead the bidding process for new contracts and services
• Manage the mobilisation and setup of contracts and services

Position Title: Helpline Supervisor

Role Purpose:

The Helpline Supervisor will provide support, guidance and supervise the helpline advisors and in the future helpline volunteers. The role will further provide emotional support and debriefing for the helpline advisors and volunteers during each helpline shift and when appropriate after each reported incident. They will also oversee the quality of service and ensure each report is dealt with appropriately to a high standard and that reports are logged appropriately recording all relevant information, ensuring data is protected and all procedures are followed.

The Lead Local Community Officer will lead the regional team of Local Community Officers to support, recruit, liaise with and develop volunteer and community supporters to care, open, use and raise money for the CCT’s collection of historic churches.

They will head the Church Planning process for the region, ensuring every church maintains and develops their co-created Church Plan.

The organisation is a charity founded in 2018 by families bereaved by gambling-related suicide. They operate the UK's only specialist support service for people affected by gambling-related suicide. Their work prevents gambling-related harm for those who gamble and prevents those impacted by a gambling-related suicide from suffering additional harm.

This role is offered on a flexible 6-month contract basis paying a salary between £55,000 to £60,000 per annum pro rata with remote working arrangements and occasional staff meetings.

The Head of Fundraising is responsible for developing and delivering the fundraising strategy to support the charity’s work across its programme areas, including the family support, research, and prevention. They will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and colleagues across the organisation to deliver a multi-income stream plan. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with funders to promote ongoing support. Critically, the post holder will be responsible for developing fundraising propositions in response to the new statutory levy on gambling operators and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the charity’s funding pipeline.

They are looking for someone with demonstrable experience in a leadership level fundraising role delivering a transformational strategic plan. Main Duties:

Funding Development

Research and identify funding opportunities aligned with Cumberland Lodge programmes.

· Write compelling, youth and/or education focused funding applications and proposals.

· Track and manage applications, deadlines, budgets and outcomes.

Relationship Management

· Build and maintain strong relationships with funders.

· Provide timely updates, reports, and impact stories.

Person specification

· A track record of securing five-figure grants or more from trusts, foundations and other donors;

· Knowledge of the fundraising landscape in the UK;

· Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, for a range of audiences, including creative storytelling and project framing;

· Ability to analyse and synthesise research and data into compelling reports and funding applications;

· Ability to develop full cost recovery budgets and carry out all compliant financial reporting;

· Ability to carry out all grant management reporting accurately and in a timely manner, with knowledge of GDPR-compliant data management;

· Ability to work independently, being proactive, organised and results-driven, while maintaining an ethos of collaboration and teamwork;

· Excellent time-keeping and ability to meet deadlines;

· Experience using a range of IT packages and platforms.

Desirable Criteria:

· Experience working with young people, youth organisations or in the education sector;

· Knowledge of the fundraising landscape internationally;

· Experience using social media for marketing and communication.

Further information

Hours: 14 hours per week (through an annualised hours working pattern).

Location: Remote working although the successful candidate will be expected to work from Cumberland Lodge a minimum of one day per month.  Applicants should be aware that Cumberland Lodge is not easily accessible by public transport, so alternative forms of transport (bicycle, car) are helpful.

Annual leave: 33 days including Bank Holidays which will be pro-rata. The charity is closed over the Christmas period which will be deducted from the leave allocation.
