Girlguiding has an opportunity for a highly experienced, strategically-minded digital programme manager (volunteering) to join our strategy & transformation department. As digital programme manager (volunteering), you’ll play a lead role in overseeing and coordinating Girlguiding’s flagship digital volunteering programme. Job Summary
You will have a strong understanding of the UK political system and how to influence it, and will be confident in drafting reports, consultation responses and working with and disseminating data. Ideally, you will have worked within the youth policy or disability policy sector previously and will have strong knowledge of how to influence policy at local and national level (including devolved Governments).

The person
You must be pro-active in your approach to monitoring the external environment and seeking out opportunities for Whizz Kidz to have the most influence. You will be able to work in a small team and understand how we can make the most impact with our limited capacity.

You will be passionate about the rights of young wheelchair users and driving real change within the sector.

Key accountabilities

• Lead on determining how policy analysis, research and data are translated into campaign strategy, focussing on identified themes from Whizz Kidz beneficiary groups, particularly our Youth Board.
• Lead on external evidence gathering, surveys and data analysis including identifying priority campaign objectives, audiences and influencers, and ensuring campaigning effort is focused where it can have its greatest impact.
• Create a strategy and operational plan to widen our reach (including into devolved nations) including a full stakeholder engagement programme.
• Build compelling cases for change to drive national and local policy changes across the UK, and empower political and non-political stakeholders to engage in our campaigns to drive our policy goals.
• Proactively identify and review new research and policies in relation to relevant policy areas to help create a compelling case for change and investment from governments and other stakeholders
• Working alongside the Youth Board, you will ensure the voices of young wheelchair users are at the heart of all of our policy and campaign work. This will often include working with a variety of stakeholders including young people with lived experience, their families, Clinicians, and partners.
• Support the charity’s responses to government consultations and other relevant public consultations, policy developments and announcements
• You will support with ensuring the smooth running of the All-Party-Parliamentary Group on Access to Disability Equipment which Whizz Kidz is a co-partner Secretariat for.
• Ensure beneficiary led advocacy is at the heart of our policy work, including supporting wider team initiatives including the Collective, Family network and Research panel.
• Regularly review impact, ensuring funding requirements and reporting are met.

We support our residents in developing coping strategies and building supportive relationships, with a commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and customer service. 

You will support with tenancy matters proactively, providing responsive support and fostering a positive environment where residents feel secure and valued. You will do this through a combination of producing tailored support plans, activities, and partnership working. You will support us continue to work in a trauma informed way, and create a psychologically informed environment, which supports us in creating a safe, respectful, and responsive environment which puts our people and communities at the forefront. £28,000 per annum FTE

We’re looking for an experienced Programme Officer to join our team on a maternity cover contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in the delivery of our In2STEM Programme during a busy and high impact period. You’ll benefit from a comprehensive handover, a supportive team environment, and the chance to make a real contribution from day one.

The Programme Officer will support the delivery of the In2STEM Programme including recruitment, planning, delivery, participant and volunteer management, and evaluation.

You will be responsible for recruitment, managing a caseload of students and volunteers (work experience hosts), and managing relationships with supporters and funders. You will also support the planning, delivery and evaluation of programme activities including training and inductions, placements, online workshops, competitions and celebration events.

In2scienceUK is a remote based organisation, that requires occasional travel across the UK for recruitment, events, internal & external meetings and staff co-working days.

Duties and responsibilities:

Programme Delivery

• Managing a caseload of students and volunteers (work experience hosts) from application stage to successful completion of the programme, including recruitment, matching, onboarding, troubleshooting throughout the programme and evaluation.

• Creating and developing engaging communication materials about the programme including video presentations, posters/flyers, case studies and website text, newsletters and images. 

• Monitoring student and volunteer (work experience host) applications to ensure targets and milestones are met. 

• Maintaining up to date records via the programme database and ensuring data protection. 

• Managing relationships with existing donors and supporters and networking to develop new relationships with prospective donors and supporters.

• Organising online skills workshops and careers panels, recruiting and coordinating volunteer speakers and panellists. 

• Planning and delivering in-person student inductions and celebration events.

Evaluation 

• Evaluating programme activities, using student and volunteer evaluation data and staff insights. 

• Supporting the creation and dissemination of case studies, working closely with the fundraising team to ensure funder requirements are met.

Essential:

• Knowledge and understanding of the STEM sector, including higher education, apprenticeships and STEM careers. 

• An understanding of the social and economic barriers that prevent some young people from accessing STEM careers and an ability to recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEM.

• Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

• Experience planning and delivering training, events and workshops. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation skills and an ability to adapt to a range of audiences. 

• Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to pick up new tasks quickly, showing resilience when faced with challenges. 

• Experience delivering programmes or projects for young people.

The Stories Team contributes to Sue Ryder’s vision of a society that supports everyone through dying and grief. We do this through impactful and emotive storytelling which highlights the impact of the charity’s palliative care and bereavement support services.

Interviewing and sharing the personal stories of the people we care for, our staff, volunteers and supporters is vital to improving understanding of the charity’s work and inspiring people to support us, whether it be through fundraising, volunteering or campaigning.

The Senior Stories Officer plays a vital role in sourcing, interviewing and sharing content and, with support from the Senior Stories Manager, they are responsible for facilitating the use of personal stories across the organisation, for example in the media and across owned channels.

Sourcing personal stories which illustrate both the impact of the work that Sue Ryder does and the diversity of our services. This will include, but is not exclusive to, stories for use in the following marketing activity, fundraising appeals, social media and across integrated campaigns.

Professional Standards Education Officer (PSEO)

Are you an experienced acupuncture practitioner interested in joining the BAcC staff team in a key role that will help protect both practising acupuncturists and the public?

The Professional Standards Education Officer (PSEO) will be at the forefront of supporting BAcC members to work safely and manage the risks of their practice. You will also have a great positive impact on public protection and fostering trust across UK and global institutions in the practice of acupuncture.

This will be a varied role, involving all stages of developing and updating policy and communicating it to the membership. You will work as part of our wonderful team, alongside our Safe Practice Officer, Research and Policy Manager, and our Professional Conduct Officers. You will also act as a link with the BAcC’s insurer in-house risk and legal support and connect to professionals across other UK healthcare regulators.

As the Secretary to the Education Committee, you will support the BAcC’s newly integrated education and accreditation function and assist the Chair and committee in guiding the future of acupuncture accreditation in the UK.

It is anticipated that your time will be split approximately two days per week in the risk management and safe practice support role, and one day per week in the education support role. These two functions have great synergy; you will facilitate the key connection between the BAcC and college accreditation by transmitting risk mitigation strategies and taking college feedback on new risks to update policy.

The work will be varied and interesting and, most importantly, you will be able to make a huge and tangible difference to the community. It is an exciting time right now at the BAcC as we are transforming the way we work. We are moving from a passive repository of safe practice information to an evolving, active support service for members where they need it most. The work you do in this role will not only help other acupuncturists navigate difficult situations and avoid complaints, but it will enable them to be fully protected in the rare event that a claim or complaint comes in.

We are looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to play a key role in supporting Purposeful Ventures’ day-to-day financial operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their finance career who wants to build a strong foundation in accounting, whilst studying towards a professional qualification, in a supportive and purpose-driven environment. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the finance function, and Purposeful Ventures will support you to gain a Level 4 Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship, covering the cost of your professional study. This will allow you to complete on-the-job training, and be part of a vibrant finance team, whilst gaining your Level 4 AAT, ACCA or CIMA Diploma.

You will be at the heart of the organisation’s financial operations, gaining exposure to a wide range of finance processes including purchase ledgers, expenses, payments to banking, month-end processes and finance systems. You will also be able to support in the production of management accounts and provide information for the annual audit, helping give you a strong foundation in core finance processes

This is a role for someone who likes working with numbers and loves getting into the detail. You’ll be trusted with responsibility from day one, but you’ll also have the support and guidance you need to propel your finance career forward. You will have had some exposure to a finance function, but are now looking for a role where you can grow and be supported to gain a formal accounting qualification.

Responsibilities and duties

Purchase Ledger and expenses

• Maintain the Purchase Ledger to process, code and enter invoices for payment in line with agreed terms.
• Process all expense claims, ensuring that all the necessary supporting documents are authorised by the relevant manager.
• Oversee and initiate automated payment runs, including purchase ledger payments, examine payments and staff expenses, ensuring all pre-payment checks and authorisations are correctly captured within the system.
• Set up new suppliers and update bank details for existing suppliers.
• Resolve supplier and internal staff finance-related queries in a timely manner.
• Own the organisation’s credit card and pre-paid card process to update users, allocate funds, code payments and reconcile receipts.
• Ensure receipts are submitted within agreed timelines by encouraging the wider employee base to submit these on time.

Month end and year end

• Assist with bank reconciliations and posting daily bank transactions.
• Post journals for accruals, prepayments and other financial adjustments as directed by the Finance Manager.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Assist the Finance Manager with audit preparation.

Other

• Assist in managing financial administration procedures and contribute suggestions to improve efficiency and processes.
• Set up new users on multiple internal systems.
• Ensure internal systems are being used and are beneficial to staff by supporting them with queries on their use.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is ready to take the next step in their finance career and develop through a Level 4 Diploma. You’ll be eligible to enrol by having a minimum of either five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) and A-Level and/or BTEC qualifications or a Level 3 apprenticeship, and will be motivated to deepen your technical knowledge while gaining practical, hands-on experience.

You’ll already have some exposure to core finance responsibilities such as processing invoices, supporting expense claims, assisting with reconciliations and working with financial systems. You understand the importance of accuracy and take pride in your attention to detail and time management.

We are also looking for someone who is methodical, proactive and curious. You’re comfortable using systems and technology and are comfortable with driving improvements in both finance processes and your own skills. Most importantly, you’ll be someone who is motivated to learn and sees this role as an opportunity to develop your technical finance knowledge alongside your apprenticeship and to build a strong foundation for a long-term career in finance.
