The Role

The Finance & Operations Coordinator is a central position in a small, purpose-driven team. The role provides direct support to the Managing Director and works closely with the Finance Committee to ensure that the charity’s financial and operational systems are well managed, compliant and effective.

This is a broad and hands-on role that involves managing day-to-day UK operations, supporting financial oversight, ensuring smooth coordination with our in-country partners, and keeping our administrative framework in excellent order.

You will be responsible for maintaining clear systems, meeting key reporting deadlines, and ensuring that the organisation runs efficiently behind the scenes. The role suits someone who is proactive, reliable, and comfortable managing a wide variety of tasks with independence and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

Finance and Reporting

• Maintain accurate financial records in Xero, reconciling transactions and processing payments for invoices, payroll and expenses.

• Allocate receipts and donations to the correct funds and ensure supporting documentation is filed systematically.

• Prepare and submit Gift Aid claims to HMRC.

• Collate quarterly financial and narrative reports from Moroccan partner NGOs and follow up on missing information.

• Support the Managing Director and Finance Committee with budget preparation, analysis and audit documentation.

• Ensure that annual accounts and financial reports are submitted in line with Charity Commission requirements.

Operations and Administration

• Oversee and improve shared filing systems (Teams/SharePoint), ensuring that all administrative and financial records are accurate, up to date and easy to access.

• Manage the main email inbox, responding to or redirecting correspondence promptly and professionally.

• Coordinate logistics for meetings, events, and annual project visits in Morocco.

• Support the Managing Director with scheduling, documentation, and general administrative follow-up.

• Monitor compliance tasks, ensuring that all Charity Commission and internal governance requirements are up to date and properly documented.

Donor and Partner Relations

• Act as a first point of contact for donors, supporter schools, hotels and individuals.

• Process and acknowledge donations, issue receipts and maintain accurate donor records.

• Proactively follow up with existing and potential supporters, helping to build and maintain relationships.

• Liaise with Moroccan partners to ensure that project and financial reporting are on track and shared on time.

Governance and Oversight

• Support the Finance Committee and Managing Director with preparation for trustee and committee meetings, including gathering reports and ensuring actions are followed up.

• Assist with external audits and reviews, coordinating with UK auditors and Moroccan partners as needed.

• Maintain oversight of risk management, safeguarding and health and safety documentation, ensuring relevant information is filed and accessible.

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience with Xero or similar accounting software, and confidence handling day-to-day bookkeeping.

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and comfortable using Teams/SharePoint.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Able to work independently and take initiative, with good judgement about when to seek input.

• Comfortable managing multiple priorities and adapting to a varied workload.

About the Role

As Interim Finance Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day finance operations, maintain robust financial systems, and ensure statutory obligations are met working with our Finance Director and CFG staff. You’ll prepare management accounts, support budgeting processes, and manage year-end audits in collaboration with our internal team and external auditors.

What You’ll Do  

• Ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day finance operations.

• Maintaining accurate financial records and systems.

• Preparing of management and year-end accounts.

• Liaison with auditors on detailed queries for the 2025/26 year-end audit.

• Facilitating effective communication between the finance team and wider organisation.

• Contributing to the development of financial processes and controls.

Bookkeeping and financial operations

• Manage the finance inbox daily, ensuring timely responses.

• Upload purchase invoices received via email to Iplicit (our finance system) and add to bulk payment run once approved by budget holders; follow up on outstanding approvals.

• Add approved staff expenses to the payment run in Iplicit.

• Post invoices from external portals (e.g. JustGiving, Click Travel, Worldpay) into SAP (our CRM).

• Upload payment runs and customer refunds to the bank, sending associated reports to the FD for authorisation.

• Ensure Iplicit is up to date with bank postings.

• Prepare monthly bank and other balance sheet reconciliations as part of management accounts pack.

• Prepare payroll reports as required (payroll is outsourced) and credit card transactions for posting into Iplicit.

• Produce ad hoc financial reports as requested by the CFG team.

• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns (these are automatically prepared in Iplicit).

Management accounts, budgeting and year-end

• Prepare monthly management accounts and transaction listings for each budget holder within a tight deadline.

• Maintain monthly deferred income schedules and other balance sheet reconciliations.

• Prepare year-end financial reports and supporting schedules.

• Complete the audited accounts reports for our two entities, liaising with auditors and CFG team as required.

• Respond to auditor queries and provide requested documentation.

• Update and circulate budget templates to budget holders during planning; consolidate returned templates.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in finance management.
• Strong knowledge of book-keeping, VAT, and compliance.
• Familiarity with finance systems (Iplicit and SAP desirable, training is available).
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Role Purpose 

As Payroll Lead, you will manage HOST’s global payroll operations — ensuring that all staff, contractors, and hosted partners are paid accurately, compliantly, and on time. 

You will bring structure, care, and precision to one of HOST’s most essential services: ensuring the people driving climate and social action receive the financial stability they need to do their best work. 

This role supports both internal HOST staff and hosted partners, liaising across HR, Finance, and Community Support to deliver secure, compliant, and efficient payroll management. You will also help develop new systems and processes as HOST expands internationally, ensuring our operations remain smooth, transparent, and aligned with local legislation. 

Core Responsibilities 

1. Payroll Management 

• Manage all aspects of monthly payroll for UK and international employees, contractors, and hosted partner staff. 

• Prepare and process payroll changes (new hires, terminations, pay adjustments) in line with internal procedures. 

• Ensure timely submission of payroll information to Finance and external providers. 

• Reconcile payroll each month, identifying and resolving any discrepancies. 
   

• Reporting cadence: Monthly payroll cycle; quarterly summary to Operations Director. 

2. Compliance and Record-Keeping 

• Ensure full compliance with UK employment law, tax regulations, and international payroll requirements in collaboration with external providers. 

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee and contractor records. 

• Support statutory reporting, including PAYE, HMRC, and pension submissions. 

• Liaise with HOST’s Finance Team on audits and compliance reviews. 
  Reporting cadence: Monthly compliance report; annual payroll compliance review. 

3. System Management and Improvement 

• Maintain and improve digital payroll systems, ensuring data accuracy and secure integration with Finance and HR tools. 

• Support the development of HOSTHub payroll features and automation processes with the Tech Team. 

• Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and strengthen reporting. 
  Reporting cadence: Quarterly system and process improvement review. 

4. Contractor and International Payroll Support 

• Coordinate with the Community Support and Finance Teams to process international contractor payments, ensuring correct deductions and documentation. 

• Liaise with local payroll providers and Employer of Record (EoR) partners to ensure compliance in each jurisdiction. 

• Track and report on cross-border payroll performance and issue resolution. 
  Reporting cadence: Monthly report; immediate escalation of compliance concerns. 

5. HR and Staff Support 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll queries from staff and contractors, providing clear and timely responses. 

• Collaborate with the HR & Operations teams to ensure policies and processes reflect payroll updates and legislation. 

• Support onboarding and offboarding processes for staff and contractors. 
  Reporting cadence: Ongoing; monthly summary of staff queries and resolutions. 

6. Risk and Confidentiality 

• Identify potential payroll or compliance risks, escalating concerns to the Operations Director and Finance Manager. 

• Ensure all payroll data and personal information are handled securely, in line with GDPR and HOST’s data protection policies. 
  Reporting cadence: Ongoing; quarterly inclusion in organisational risk report.

We are looking for a Community & Events Fundraiser to play a pivotal role in maximising event and supporter-led fundraising income.

Responsibilities of our Head of Legacy Giving:

• Our Head of Legacy Giving is responsible for Cats Protection’s largest charitable income stream, leading our Legacy Marketing, Legacy Administration and In Memory teams as we seek to delivery exemplary fundraising programmes raising upwards of £50m a year – around half of the cats we help are cared for thanks to this work.
• With ambitions to continue growing the income we receive from Legacy and In Memory giving, our Head of Legacy Giving is responsible for shaping the long-term strategy to deliver this growth and overseeing the implementation of activity across the organisation that maximises the scale and value of current and future support.
• Underpinning this transformation is a responsibility for the role to lead our medium and long-term legacy modelling, inspire and develop our high performing teams, and collaborate with an array of internal stakeholders and key external partners.
• The role is also a member of our Marketing and Income Generation (MIG) directorate leadership team, as part of a unified leadership group that has shared accountability and strategic responsibility for the organisation’s collective income generation performance.

About the Legacy and In Memory department:

• The department sits within our Individual Giving and Legacies business area of the Marketing & Income Generation Directorate
• There are four broad areas of expertise and delivery within the department – legacy marketing, legacy administration, in memory fundraising, and local legacy and in memory giving – with 16 individuals making up the teams.
• The teams are responsible for fundraising programmes that cover traditional legacy giving, Free Wills, our Cat Guardians service and In Memory giving for both people and cats.

What we’re looking for in our Head of Legacy Giving:

• Proven experience in a senior charitable legacy fundraising and direct marketing role
• Experience of leading and managing multiple teams working together to deliver ambitious targets, overcome challenges and achieve measurable impact in a remote working environment
• Proven track record of strategic development, planning and implementation
• Experience of commissioning and managing external agencies and consultants
• Experience of managing significant income and expenditure budgets
• Experience of providing impactful management information and reports to internal stakeholders on legacy income and key KPIs
• Knowledge of Chartered Institute of Fundraising codes of practice, sector regulation and compliance, and data protection legislation

Libraries Connected is seeking a Research and Evaluation Manager to join our newly formed Policy, External Affairs, and Research Team. This is a unique opportunity to shape and deliver impactful research and evaluation across the public library sector.

You’ll lead internal research and data projects, provide in-house evaluation for programmes, and manage external research partnerships—including with academic institutions. Your work will directly inform advocacy, communications, and strategic decision-making.

We’re looking for someone with strong research and analytical skills, experience in managing complex data, and the ability to translate findings into accessible outputs. You’ll be collaborative, detail-oriented, and confident working independently across multiple projects.

The SLA supports approximately 2000 members with advice, training and advocacy across the UK. The Events Manager will form an essential part of the SLA team working to run a high quality, inspiring and engaging events and training to help us deliver on our mission to support members, so that more children and young people reach their full potential through the school library. You will lead on the organisation of our annual conference; develop and maintain a calendar of events and training for members and non-member audiences; and support the team with all event related administration and logistics.  Events at the SLA include member meet ups (in person and online), events in our branch network across 23 regions, professional development and training, and our SLA Awards ceremonies.

Your work will be at the forefront of our member offer, helping to build links with membership, support members, build relationships with key stakeholders and sponsors, delivering high-quality training and impactful events offer across the year. An agile and flexible thinker, you will be creative, with a flair for spotting opportunities for professional development, and have a keen eye for detail with an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Using your project management experience, you will work with the CEO, SLA team colleagues and subject matter experts and facilitators to develop and deliver a high quality and competitive calendar of events and training.

This role will lead on providing advice, inspiration and support for schools looking to develop their school library provision and all the benefits this brings. An expert in school libraries, you will be comfortable supporting members 1:1, delivering training to larger audiences, providing consultancy to schools and sector organisations, writing training and resources, or preparing book recommendations. An exciting opportunity for someone experienced in school libraries with knowledge of the curriculum, teaching and learning and children’s books, you will be the first port of call for library advice and expertise, contributing to the growth and sustainability of the membership network.

You will be experienced in developing relationships with a variety of stakeholders at all levels relish a busy role. This will include supporting our Branch network, collaborating on initiatives for development, delivery and new projects as they come online. As resident children’s book expert, you will support with programmes and projects such as the SLA Information Book Award and member book-related events. You will work with your SLA colleagues to develop and deliver high-quality member events and training as well as advocacy events to raise awareness of the importance of school libraries. Using your sector insight, you will identify opportunities for development of initiatives that will support the SLA vision and mission enabling us to reach more children and young people through our work.  This is a busy and rewarding role and will suit someone with passion and resilience.

Purpose of the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving and growing fundraising team with a new, ambitious strategy for income generation that the whole charity, senior management and Trustees are right behind.

The role itself is new as Cerebra looks to invest in and significantly grow and develop a new mass participation events programme (which includes schools fundraising products). You’ll work closely with the Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications who has a strong background in events and community fundraising.

You will lead the development of virtual/digital fundraising events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person owned events, DIY events and our relationships with schools. In time, you will build and foster relationships with other community organisations. You will be responsible for growing the team as the programme expands.  Innovation and product development are key areas of work.

You will play key role in the Fundraising Marketing & Communications directorate and developing our fundraising, audience and supporter engagement strategy.

This is a challenging but well-supported role, where you can make a large, career-defining impact on Cerebra and the children and families that we serve.

Overall budgetary responsibility is approximately £295k of income for 2026, with considerable scope and ambition for improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. New events programme

• Develop a multi-year events programme incorporating virtual/digital events, challenge/3rd party events, in-person own events and DIY.
• Project manage the delivery of the events in the programme to raise £295k in 2026.
• Develop multi-channel marketing plans for recruitment, focusing on key audiences.
• Develop multi-channel supporter journeys and top-class supporter experience to deepen engagement and increase income.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on income, expenditure, and supporter acquisition across the events programme and make decisions about where to invest time and resources, accordingly.
• Develop necessary assets, such as fundraising packs. Digital platforms, digital rewards and supporter groups.
• Work with the Corporate & Philanthropy Manager to offer events fundraising to corporate partners.

2. Innovation and product development

• Use data and insights to understand audiences and to innovate and develop new events from prototype and MVP onwards.
• Proactively research and identify opportunities to grow the portfolio, monitoring the market and sector trends and how they could be implemented at Cerebra.
• Constantly seek to iterate and improve events in all areas including marketing, supporter experience, delivery and fundraising.
• Create business cases and plans for each new event.
• Own and grow Cerebra’s own mass participation flagship event “Relay Your Way”.

3. Schools and community groups

• Develop a plan and products to engage schools with Cerebra fundraising.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to develop materials to support schools fundraising.
• Work with the Marketing & Communications and Contact Centre teams to recruit schools to take part in fundraising for Cerebra.
• Monitor and evaluate to scale successful schools fundraising products.
• Take learnings from schools fundraising to apply to other groups and organisations.

4. Culture & relationships

• Work to continue the development of a strong, person-centred, empathetic, supportive and inclusive culture at Cerebra.
• Build on excellent relationships between different teams and directorates for each teams’s and Cerebra’s overall strategic goals and objectives.
• Collaborate across departments to align partner activity with service delivery and communications.
• Contribute to strategic, organisational and cultural development.
• Champion innovation, growth mindset and learning from failure.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, partners and suppliers to ensure the best outcomes for Cerebra.

5. Budgeting, monitoring and forecasting

• Working with the team and Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications to set income and expenditure budgets for Events and Community.
• Monitoring and reporting on income and expenditure and KPIs throughout the year.
• Providing quarterly income and expenditure re-forecasts.
• Ensuring all relevant information is recorded in line with charity, fundraising and data legislation and best practice.

6. Line Management

• Carry out recruitment within the team in line with Cerebra’s practices and values.
• Provide effective, remote line management, support and performance management to direct reports to help them maximise their potential and effectiveness.
• Provide practical and person-centred coaching support to direct reports.
• Ensure there is a continual focus on learning and development and wellbeing.
