Job description

----------
Support Time Recovery (STR) Worker, Wigan Crisis Space
----------
We are looking for client-focused Support Time Recovery Workers who are passionate about supporting local residents when it comes to mental health - with full time or part time hours to suit the right candidate (up to 37 hours per week, or a minimum of 21 hours per week).

A new service in the area, Wigan Crisis Space provides a safe space for those in distress and struggling with unwanted thoughts and feelings. Looking to improve mental health and wellbeing, we connect individuals to a range of services to reduce low mood, anxiety or loneliness, develop new skills and ensure their voice is heard.

Our STR Workers will provide low-level calming interventions and one-to-one support to identify the cause of the emotional distress and put in place a plan that includes signposting and referring on to other organisations and services.

The ideal candidates will have an awareness of mental health conditions, be experienced in building strong relationships with people and demonstrate strong listening skills. The ability to develop trust with those that use the service is key in working together to achieve desired outcomes, and you will help plan and support clients to do just this.

----------
Main responsibilities
----------
- Develop trusting relationships and provide short term one-to-one appointments, that offer practical and emotion support.
- Carry out initial ‘getting to know you’ conversations, working with individuals to plan their support and achieve the goals and outcomes that are important to them to support recovery from crises.
- To have knowledge of, develop relationships and keep up to date with, local services and organisations which can offer support in relation to developing positive wellbeing.
- Ensure regular and robust case recording and risk management in line with Quality Standards.
- Complete referrals to ensure people accessing the Wigan Crisis Space have the appropriate support networks around them.
- Support and facilitate group activities that promote wellbeing and recovery as part of our prevention agenda.

----------
Benefits
----------
- Annual paid leave entitlement that commences at 25 working days (pro rota for part time), rising each April by one day, subject to a maximum of 30 working days plus bank holidays.
- Up to 6% matched-pension contributions.
- Flexible working arrangements and new starters have the right to make flexible working requests from day one of employment.
- Enhanced paid sick leave and paid family leave provisions.
- Eye care and winter flu jabs vouchers.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Investment in your professional development with ongoing quality training and career development opportunities
