Purpose and scope

Are you looking for a policy role where you can make a difference? Our client looking for a Senior Policy and Campaigns Adviser to translate our members’ views and experiences into robust policy positions that effectively influence the national agenda.

You’ll be part of the policy and campaigns team, responsible for ensuring our client maintains its position as a credible, influential stakeholder in the eyes of government, NHS systems and physician members.  

You’ll join the organisation just as it finalises its new strategy and decides its new areas of policy focus for the coming year. You’ll play a critical role in developing and delivering policy work on a range of high-profile topics to ensure we influence healthcare policy and the implementation of the 10 Year Health Plan.

As a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will report directly to the Clinical Lead and support them in providing a comprehensive range of therapeutic interventions to clients of HBF.

We are looking for someone who is committed to working therapeutically with people who experienced human rights abuses and post-migration stressors and present with trauma spectrum disorders, depression, and anxiety as a result. In addition to proven experience in working therapeutically with this client group, the candidate will have a passion for human rights work beyond the individual client work, and a desire to contribute to effecting change at a policy level.  This role requires the ability to react and respond creatively and appropriately to the needs of the charity.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?     

This role, open to female applicants only under Section 7(2) (b & e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, involves delivering advocacy and intensive support services to all genders and non-binary survivors of domestic abuse, particularly those experiencing harmful practices . The postholder will work across hospital, healthcare, and community settings, acting as a single point of access for survivors at all risk levels. Key responsibilities include conducting DASH risk assessments, developing individual safety and support plans, providing crisis intervention, and ensuring high-risk survivors are represented through the MARAC process. The role also requires close collaboration with healthcare professionals, supporting them in managing disclosures, and ensuring survivors are connected to legal, housing, and welfare support as needed.

The advocate will play a vital role in improving outcomes for survivors, aiming to increase their safety, confidence, and quality of life. They will develop and review person-centred support plans, make safeguarding referrals, and attend relevant forums and committees. Accurate case recording, participation in supervision and training, and engagement in service co-production with survivors are essential components of the role. As a representative of Hestia, the postholder will maintain strong multi-agency partnerships, uphold service standards and confidentiality, and embody Hestia's values in all aspects of their work.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence, with specific expertise in addressing harmful practices. This includes experience in risk assessment, developing safety and support plans, working within multi-agency settings, and delivering specialist domestic abuse training to professionals, particularly in healthcare environments. The candidate should also have a strong background in service user involvement and co-production, demonstrate the ability to remain calm and resilient under pressure, and be proficient in using computer-based systems for accurate case recording. 

In terms of skills and knowledge, the candidate must possess a deep understanding of the impact of domestic abuse and harmful practices on survivors and their children, as well as the legal, housing, and welfare systems relevant to their needs. They should be capable of working non-judgmentally and in an empowering way, have a strong grasp of safeguarding protocols, and experience in the MARAC process. Additionally, they must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills, and the ability to evaluate training impact and apply learning to improve service delivery.

This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility of office-based and homeworking. The postholder will be required to attend our Aylesbury office a minimum of once a week and more frequently during the induction period and as needed for meetings. We would like the postholder to be available to work on Fridays.

Financial Controller (Six-Month FTC)
Central London / Hybrid
 

An established professional body in central London is seeking an experienced and dynamic Financial Controller to join its finance leadership team on a six-month fixed-term contract. This is a high-impact role leading core financial operations, shaping best-practice controls, and ensuring smooth statutory and regulatory reporting during a key period of organisational activity.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the postholder will manage a small, capable team and take ownership of financial accounting, audit, treasury, and compliance. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical rigour with hands-on leadership in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of four, ensuring high-quality financial operations.
• Oversee statutory accounts, VAT, tax and gift aid submissions.
• Manage internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
• Maintain strong financial controls, procedures and accounting policies.
• Manage cash flow, investments, banking relationships and treasury activity.
• Oversee purchase/sales ledgers, credit control and smooth financial administration.
• Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and reporting.

Person specification:

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with strong post-qualified experience.
• Proven experience of year-end audits and statutory/charity reporting.
• Strong understanding of restricted fund accounting and financial controls.
• Excellent communicator able to support and influence non-finance colleagues.
• Confident leader with advanced Excel and strong system skills.
• Able to work accurately under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines.

Desirable: Experience of internal/external audit, Total Return accounting or Xledger.
