The Role 

As our Data Governance Officer, you will join our multi-disciplinary Data Management Team within our Digital, Data and Technology Directorate. You will play a central role in supporting colleagues across the Charity to implement our data governance strategy, ensuring that colleagues are enabled to manage data ethically, securely, and legally across a wide and varied set of functions.

You will be as passionate and knowledgeable about supporting colleagues to develop an effective data culture and bring about the mindset and behaviour change that this requires as you are about data governance. We are a small team building culture change and supporting colleagues to take on new roles and responsibilities around data, placing ownership where it is most effective and enabling colleagues to see their relationships with data differently. 

You will have: 

• Experience in data governance or data management – ideally in the charity or public sector. 

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, especially with non-technical audiences. 

• A collaborative approach and ability to influence change across teams. 

• A passion for ethical data use and making a difference through better information. 

• Working knowledge of data protection laws (e.g. GDPR) and how they apply to charities. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Implementation, review, and refinement of the data governance framework, strategy and vision ensuring that these align with the Charity's Corporate Strategy.

The Role

About You

To be considered as a Quantity Surveyor, you will need:

• Proven experience in quantity surveying, cost estimations, contract administration and procurement

• A degree-level qualification or equivalent through relevant training and/or experience

Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to everyone who is in need of support.

The successful candidate willdeliver a high-quality service to young people aged 16–17 and their families across Hertfordshire, working alongside the Family Link Work and Mediation services to prevent family breakdown and reduce repeat homelessness. They will also support the wider team and work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the service achieves its key performance indicators (KPIs).

Lead the hyh Hub, overseeing its day-to-day operations and ensuring the effective delivery of services. The Hub acts as a gateway for young people aged 16–17 to access hyh’s prevention services. In this role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, partners, and commissioners, while supporting the recruitment, training, and professional development of Advice & Information and Admin Workers. You will also monitor outcomes and produce reports for the leadership team and funders to demonstrate impact and inform future service development.

• CIPD Qualified or qualified by experience with evidence of proactive CPD

• Ability to manage numerous projects across Business Units with conflicting deadlines and to prioritise workload accordingly
• Be skilled at working with data, drawing insight from analytics including HR systems; ability to run reports, manipulate data, and analyse information
• Proven experience of influencing and coaching managers through a wide range of employee relations issues
