Elders Voice is a charity supporting older people in the London Borough of Brent. Our mission is to enable older people to live safely and independently in the homes of their choosing and lead happier and healthier lives. We do this by providing a variety of services and activities, including a Handyperson Service and a Day Centre.

The Handyperson Service is our flagship service; it’s been in existence for 35 years and is highly valued by the older people who use it. The service aims to prevent accidents in the home and enable older people to live safely by carrying out basic repairs and improvements, and the installation of small equipment such as grab rails, which support mobility. Jobs include things like changing lightbulbs, hanging curtains and putting up shelves. Our handy team have decades of experience between them, and an exceptional reputation in the borough.

We are looking for a Handyperson Service Coordinator to oversee the Handyperson Service and be responsible for all aspects of facilities management at our premises in Kensal Green.

Role: Handyperson Service Coordinator

Salary: £18,000 per annum (FTE £30,000) 

Hours: 21 hours per week

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer

Based at: Elders Voice offices in Kensal Green

Overview of role:

Handyperson Service

• Undertake all administrative tasks relating to the effective and efficient running of the Handyperson Service with meticulous attention to detail and record keeping.
• Coordinate the handy team and provide supervision and support.
• Promote service within borough and maintain relationships with Brent Adult Social Care, healthcare bodies and other statutory & voluntary sector organisations.
• Work with CEO in developing and expanding service.

Facilities Management

• Oversee all contracts related to Health & Safety and building maintenance.
• Carry out inspection of premises and flag areas requiring maintenance and repair.
• Ensure premises meets government regulations, health & safety standards and energy efficiency requirements.

The Head of Partnerships and Events will oversee the charities growing portfolio of special fundraising events. A leading cancer charity is seeking a Financial Accountant to join them for a 9 -12 month fixed-term contract. This well-known charity plays a vital role in funding cancer research, providing support for patients across a range of programme areas as well as leading in campaigning and advocacy work

The role will support the organisation undertake effective financial reporting and systems change work, with key duties being as follows:

• Undertaking month end reporting including balance sheet reconciliations and reviews

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and organised Programme Support Coordinator to support the delivery of our Sport England funded national programme that empowers people with a learning disability to get active. You will work across 2 key projects:

· Our Active Community – supporting people with a learning disability and their communities to become more active.

· Mencap Active Community – helping to grow, engage and upskill a national network of stakeholders.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about health and wellbeing for people with a learning disability, with strong coordination and communication skills.

Mencap are a Sport England funded system partner, and this role is a full-time fixed term contract until end of March 2027. You will sit within the Active Communities team supporting the Programme Lead, Network Development Partner and 5 Community Partners.

What You Will Be Doing

· Liaise with Community Partners and support them with their Our Active Community workload. Tasks will vary but could involve asset mapping, attending forums, writing up meeting notes, creating Easy Read documents, and compiling newsletters.

· Liaise with the Network Development Partner to organise and support national forums, webinars, and learning events to share best practice and amplify lived experience.

· Support with our online platforms for Mencap Active Community, signing up stakeholders and keeping content up to date and engaging. This will include the development of inclusive resources, toolkits, and communications for national distribution.

· Provide coordination support for the delivery of our Learning Disability and Sport workshop in terms of bookings, liaising with tutors, co-trainers, attendees and capturing impact.

· Lead on our communications plan by creating content and promoting our work both internally and externally across various communication channels.

· Monitor our sports inbox and respond to general enquiry emails.

· Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes, including data analysis, capturing learnings and creating case studies.

· Support the team with other responsibilities relevant to the role that may not be listed above.

Together for Short Lives is a charity that ensures seriously ill children and their families receive the care they need, especially at the end of life. We work closely with families, care professionals, and services to improve children’s palliative care. We also speak up to government leaders and decision-makers to help make sure families have access to the best support when they need it.

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Family Support Hub Officer to join us as maternity cover for 9 months. You will work within our Family Support Hub, liaising with identified partners to provide support to families with a seriously ill child, as well as providing grants administration and event organisation support. 

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to help Together for Short Lives reach and support more families - responding appropriately to their needs by listening, signposting or referring onto internal and external support e.g.. grants, peer support, events and engagement opportunities. You will support families contacting Together for Short Lives through the Helpline, website and from partner referrals.

This role combines responsibility for grant administration and voucher processing with day-to-day family support hub tasks, including managing email inboxes and co-ordinating communications. The postholder will ensure that families receive timely information, compassionate support, and access to financial assistance, while helping the organisation meet funding obligations and maintain high-quality service delivery.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and visible finance professional who is able to engage and build relationships across the organisation as a pivotal member within a values led high performing organisation. You will be a qualified accountant with proven track record of financial management awareness and a solid understanding of charity audits and statutory accounts preparation. You will have the ability to work with staff across the organisation in supporting good financial governance and oversight of financial operational matters. You will have the ability to analyse financial information and present this in a suitable format for the audience. You will have good ability to meet deadlines, be IT literate with an emphasis on financial systems, spreadsheets, Quickbooks and Excel. You will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and be able to work with minimum supervision.

About the role

The role will involve the management of the day-to-day financial activities, VAT, gift aid, payroll and the monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations and statutory accounts preparation. The job holder will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Finance Officer and volunteers within the team. There will be a requirement to work closely with the income generating staff, budget holders, auditors, banks and credit card providers on a regular basis.  The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Finance Officer and Finance volunteer.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

In this role, the individual will work as part of a multidisciplinary NHS team—alongside clinicians, social workers, and community partners—to support adults with moderate to severe mental illness. They will hold a caseload of service users, acting as a key point of contact and contributing to care planning, progress monitoring, and discharge support, using the RiO clinical records system. Working collaboratively with service users, they will co-develop person-centred recovery plans that prioritise social goals and community integration. Building strong therapeutic relationships using trauma-informed and strength-based approaches, they will support individuals in achieving personal recovery goals. The role includes helping service users access local resources, attend appointments, and engage in wellbeing activities, peer support, and psychoeducational groups. The individual will promote recovery-focused, jargon-free communication, advocate for co-production and integrated care, and liaise with both statutory and voluntary sector organisations to support effective service navigation. They will attend clinical meetings and community events, representing both Hestia and the Community Mental Health Team, while maintaining accurate, timely documentation of all support activities and risk assessments. Safe and ethical practice is essential, including adherence to safeguarding protocols, health and safety procedures, and quality standards. Ongoing supervision, training, clinical oversight, and participation in annual appraisals will also form part of this role.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The main purpose of this role is to empower a caseload of service users to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations, under the direction of the Service Manager. This is a 24/7 service and will require you to complete sleep in shifts as well as cooking for service users at the weekends as well. This can result in longer but few days worked but you will on average only work 39 hours per week.
