Scope of role

The People & Culture Partner will provide expert support across the full employee lifecycle from attraction and recruitment, to onboarding, development, performance management, and exit. Essential Criteria:

• CIPD Level 5 minimum.
• Proven track record in HR/People roles, including managing complex employee relations cases (grievance, disciplinary, absence and performance management) providing guidance to managers and supporting individuals through processes.
• Experience managing payroll processes, either directly or through outsourced providers, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proven experience leading end-to-end recruitment, including role scoping, advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and selection.
• Experience designing and delivering onboarding and induction programmes that support new staff to integrate effectively and feel engaged from the outset.
• Experience of drafting HR policies and procedures and conducting gap analysis on HR systems.
• Experience supporting managers and advising through consultation processes such as TUPE and/or redundancy.
• Strong organisational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

• Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and a commitment to developing organisational culture to ensure inclusion and diversity.

• Experience working in a unionised environment and demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

• Experience working in a similar role within the charity or non-profit sector is preferred.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, with the ability to determine business goals and suggest ways to achieve them through HR initiatives.

Our frontline team recovers thousands in unpaid wages and helps hundreds of people to secure their immigration status every year. The Role

As Policy Manager you will be the driving force of our policy influencing agenda. We count on you to develop nuanced recommendations, grounded in high-quality research, and to work with policy makers to raise awareness, secure buy-in, and achieve real-world change. Reporting directly to the CEO, your main responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring policy developments at the intersection of employment and work-migration. In the short term, in employment you will keep an eye on the Fair Work Agency and the implementation of the government’s Make Work Pay agenda. In immigration, you will monitor developments concerning high-risk employer-sponsored visas.

• Producing nuanced analyses that spell out the implications of policy developments in a clear and accessible manner, and conclude with actionable recommendations.

• Influencing decision-makers, including government, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees and APPGs. This includes evidence submissions, 1:1s, and working in multi-stakeholder environments.

• Contributing to research publications that document the systemic drivers of migrant worker exploitation, and draw on best practice to give policy makers options for change. 

• Contributing to the charity’s strategy, and taking up line management duties as required.

About you

This is a senior role for a candidate who can hit the ground running. We would love to hear from you if you have:

• Good knowledge of UK immigration and/or employment justice, evidenced by academic credentials and/or professional experience.

• At least three years of professional experience in policy influencing. We will consider less if you can demonstrate other relevant experience (i.e. in research or legal advice).

• Excellent analytical and research skills, evidenced by a track-record of publications (such as policy analyses, reports etc).

• Excellent communication skills, including an ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder environment.

• A real sense of purpose, commitment to our mission, and appreciation for the power of team work.

Data Officer

We are looking for an individual with a keen, analytical mind who is comfortable working with large datasets to be a Data Officer within the Knowledge and Insight team.

Position: SIT62 Data Officer

Location: Home-based, UK, Nationwide. However, occasional travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work related meetings)

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Data Services, the Data Officer will meet data needs relating to the management and delivery of supporter and engagement products. You will work alongside three other Data Officers to assess, prioritise and provide solutions including the building of data selections and journeys for direct marketing purposes and the running of supporter data imports and exports.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering data selections, Building automated journeys for fundraising and engagement activity to support increased income generation and supporter retention, ensuring communications are delivered to agreed Service Level Agreements.
• Providing reports and data sets to supporter product owners, managers and delivery staff to help them maximise the impact of activities.

About You

You will have experience of using CRM Dynamics, Faststats and  PeopleStage and or any Donor CRM for marketing purposes. You will receive support while you are learning to use any of the tools and applications the team use and will be actively encouraged in the development of your data and analytical skills. Communication skills play a key part in this role, because you will need to be able to talk through or present selections or solutions to stakeholders.

You will have a proven record of:

• Working with large datasets for marketing purposes and provide solutions and or data in response to enquiries from colleagues and other teams.
• Using a relational customer/supporter database to import and export data to and from external suppliers; including data mapping and the design of appropriate import processes.
• Use of a marketing automation tools such as Faststats and PeopleStage.

We are seeking a passionate and confident Community Fundraiser to provide excellent supporter care and develop and deliver a range of community fundraising initiatives.

The Income Generation and Communications team currently raises £5 million a year to support the work of Bolton Hospice. Our consultant-led team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. We not only take care of patients' physical needs, but we also consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And we support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.

We care for patients throughout their illness, helping to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. We also provide compassionate, dedicated and dignified care for patients at the end of their life. As our services and reach increase, so does our income target, so the successful candidate will build on our previous fundraising success and ultimately help us reach more of the people in Bolton who need us.

You will act as the first point of contact for individuals, groups who are fundraising on the hospice’s behalf, providing information, support and advice and delivering excellent supporter care.

You will be responsible for maximising participation in community fundraising activities through effective promotion of the wide range of opportunities to organise events and raise funds on the hospice’s behalf including the planning and delivery of community-based mass participation events such as the Bolton Hospice Reindeer Run.

You will inspire support and help raise the profile of the work of the hospice from community groups, associations, companies and schools by providing talks and presentations about the organisation.

Developing new and existing relationships, networking and identifying and approaching potential supporters is key to the role.

What you need:

You’ll need to be creative and flexible in order to continually adapt to the changing fundraising climate and evolve the hospice’s fundraising appeals programme as necessary.

It is a busy role, and no two days are the same, so you’ll be highly organised in order to develop thorough plans, juggle competing priorities and problem solve effectively.

You will be an inspiring and enthusiastic communicator and relationship-builder and be passionate about providing excellent supporter care. You’ll be able to use your talents to negotiate and influence stakeholders when required.

Proactive and dynamic, you’ll be able to manage an ongoing calendar of appeals whilst constantly looking to develop new fundraising initiatives. Experience of working for a charity would be an advantage, but not essential.

Guidelines Manager
Contract: Fixed-term contract, 6 months
Salary: Up to £45,000 (depending on experience) 
Place of Work: BSH Headquarters, 100 White Lion Street, London, N1 9PF (hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours (normally 9am-5pm, with an hour unpaid for lunch)

The British Society for Haematology (BSH) is the largest UK multidisciplinary Haematology Society with over 3,000 members. Our activities include running education events and courses (including our flagship Annual Scientific Meeting held in April), producing guidelines, awarding grants, and raising the profile of haematology.

The role of the BSH Guidelines is to provide haematologists with up-to-date advice on the diagnosis and treatment of haematological disease and also on laboratory haematology practice, primarily by the production of evidence-based guidelines.

The co-ordination and commissioning of the required guidelines is carried out by 4 task forces, each responsible for a specialist area; blood transfusion, haemostasis & thrombosis, haemato-oncology and general haematology. It is also the responsibility of each task force group to ensure that guidelines are reviewed regularly and updated as appropriate on the BSH website. BSH Guidelines is overseen by an Executive Committee which consists of a Chair and Vice-Chair of BSH Guidelines and the Chairs of each of the four Task Forces.

Each Task Force will have between 10 - 15 guidelines in production or review at any one time, with an average of 2 - 3 being published each year (approximately 10 - 12 in total). The guidelines are written by nominated writing groups with members of the Task Force taking responsibility to ensure they are written to the correct standards and specification. The finished guidelines are usually published in the British Journal of Haematology and are made freely available on the BSH website. Each Task Force will meet 3 - 4 times a year to discuss the progress of the guidelines and any other pertinent business.

The Role

This is a six-month, full-time role to cover an extended period of staff absence. We are looking for someone to cover the role but we’re looking for someone who can do more than just maintain the status quo. We want a dynamic individual who will actively engage with the role, bring fresh ideas, and look for ways to develop and improve the work.
