We are looking for a new policy adviser who will work primarily in our natural environment to help deliver ambitious leadership for the environment. They may also work on projects for one or more of our other themes.

You will be a strong researcher and confident communicator who can understand the main environmental and political challenges in the UK. As well as understanding the bigger picture, you will have experience of working in policy areas covered by our natural environment theme which are food, farming, land use and nature.

You will work as part of a team that uses political, policy and analytical insights to drive forward UK government policy on food, farming, land use and nature. You will be able to synthesise complex information rapidly, including in areas unfamiliar to you. You will take initiative in using that information to propose policy positions to the team that are sensitive to the wider political context. You will be organised and independent, ensuring outputs and events are executed to a high quality and to deadlines.

Communication skills are important. You will be a skilled writer, capable of turning complex information into easily understandable briefings, reports, and blogs for our audiences. You will have the ability to build relationships with politicians, environmental NGOs, business partners and other stakeholders. You will be comfortable presenting our work to internal and external audiences, helping to secure support for projects and policy proposals.

Here at the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, for more than 20 years we have developed an international reputation for producing evidence-based guidance, evaluation and policy.

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Researcher to join the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health to provide maternity leave cover for 11 months in the first instance.

You will lead in the development of competence frameworks, systematic reviews, evaluations, research reports and articles for peer-reviewed publication, as well as other research tasks. You will be expected to plan consultations with stakeholders and implement advice from Expert Reference Groups in important and complex issues in mental health care, including dementia and gender identity services.

The Senior Researcher will be expected to supervise the research team in searching for literature, sifting articles, data extraction, data synthesis and quality appraisal and lead the writing of reviews. Importantly, you will be expected to manage the components of complex projects and deliver high quality outputs on time. 

We are seeking an individual with a background in mental health services, competence frameworks or systematic reviewing, who has a PhD in a related field (e.g. psychology, systematic reviewing, mental health, healthcare management), and has experience of managing or leading research projects. 

You will also have a proven ability to communicate and present information in a clear and concise fashion and be able to manage a small team.

Programme Delivery Officer role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our Programmes Team as a Programme Delivery Officer. PDOs will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the delivery of the First Give programme in up to 50 schools, ensuring smooth running of the programme, plus providing guidance and troubleshooting for the lead teachers at First Give partner schools.

The role will be hybrid, with 3 days a week in our main offices in West Hampstead, London. Regular travel to schools across London and the South East will be required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide logistic and programme support to teachers delivering the First Give programme at their school, including but not limited to:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work with an innovative and friendly multidisciplinary team at our London Centre.​

You will line manage and supervise highly skilled and dedicated clinicians, in the service delivery of a range of NICE guideline recommended therapy interventions, offered to our clients, who are survivors of torture and organised violence. You will report to the Adult Team Manager, London and operate as an integral part of the London Clinical Services Team. This is an exciting chance to join us as we place survivor empowerment and movement building at the heart of our four-year strategy and work together to increase the number of clients who can access our services. It is based in a centre specifically designed to be a safe and welcoming environment for survivors and includes gardens and growing facilities.

About the role

This is a wide-ranging position, and your key areas of responsibility will include:

• To work with the Adult Team Manager and Heads of Clinical Services to implement FFT’s strategic goals. It will involve providing line management to paid staff and volunteers from different professions and disciplines and provide professional and clinical supervision to qualified clinicians and trainees in the service including, clinical/counselling psychologists. This role may also include providing remote clinical supervision to clinicians in our other regional centres (North West England and Scotland).
• To ensure that Freedom from Torture's clinical model continues to be fully rolled out, with particular emphasis on survivor empowerment and evidence-based practice for addressing PTSD and other mental health impacts of torture.
• Championing people development as well as influence delivery of evidenced -based practice, clinical standards, quality initiatives and audit-based services.
• To formulate and negotiate psychological treatment and management plans for referred clients and to provide psychological treatment, using a range of specialist psychological interventions appropriate to the service in line with the new clinical model “Pathways” (drawing on a range of evidence-based models for the presenting problems of the clients).

About you

This is an important role within Freedom from Torture. To be successful in this role you must have a high level of commitment to maintaining excellent standards of client care and service delivery. It is a key requirement that you must have knowledge of appropriate clinical standards and external regulatory bodies. You must also have sound financial awareness and experience of balancing the provision of quality care against budgetary parameters.

To be considered for this role you must be a Psychologist registered with HCPC and have qualified with a doctorate or equivalent in either clinical or counselling psychology. You must have professional experience of working with clients with complex PTSD and have post-qualification experience of using evidence-based trauma focused therapy models. It is essential that you have a clear understanding of the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum, both in terms of pre-flight experience and the experience of living in exile. You must have previous management and supervision experience and be able to provide demonstrable examples of how you have successfully led and influenced clinical teams within community or health care settings.

To perform this role, you’ll need the following skills:

Technical Research Expertise

• Expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies including RCTs, quasi-experimental methods; including multi-country evaluations and ethical research management.
• Proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and research data interpretation. Excellent data analysis skills using statistical software packages (STATA or R) and advanced excel skills; experience of advanced quantitative analysis techniques such as Interrupted Time Series Analysis, multilevel regression etc.

• Proficiency in developing new metrics and frameworks for assessing program impact, particularly in equity, disability, and marginalized group outcomes.
• Deep understanding of research ethics, protocols, and quality assurance processes
• Highly proficient in steering large-scale third-party evaluations.

Sector Expertise

• Substantial experience in sexual and reproductive health research
• Understanding of SRH research challenges, indicators, and measurement approaches
• Knowledge of key global health research institutions and networks
• Familiarity with demographic and health research data sources and methodologies

Stakeholder Engagement and communication

• Highly developed skills to influence and persuade ability to quickly and effectively build relationships with team members and stakeholders at all levels.

• Deep expertise in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) methodologies, frameworks, and global best practices.
• Advanced skills in results-based MEL design, including theory of change, indicator development, baseline assessments, impact measurement, and logframe development.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, with experience extracting insights from large datasets (e.g., DHS, PMA), and translating findings into actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.

A leading national membership organisation is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join its small, high-performing finance team. This is a brilliant opportunity for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) to play a key role in a values-led charity that is entering an exciting phase of strategic transformation.

 

About the role

As Finance Business Partner, you will be the trusted financial advisor to senior stakeholders, supporting around 10–15 budget holders across four functions. You’ll help lead on budgeting, forecasting and monthly management reporting – translating complex data into meaningful insights to drive decision-making. The organisation is in the early stages of improving its systems and automating reporting, so a keen eye for process improvement and system integration will be especially valuable.

You’ll work closely with another Finance Business Partner, supporting their development while also bringing in strong external experience to add strategic value. Confidence, collaboration, and a hands-on approach will be key – this is a flat-structured, non-hierarchical environment where influence comes from relationships rather than titles.

 

Key priorities in your first six months:

• Lead the budgeting cycle for the 2025/26 financial year (beginning this autumn)
• Help streamline and automate monthly reporting processes (currently Excel-heavy)
• Partner with budget holders to deliver accurate forecasts and clear, actionable financial insight

About you

We’re looking for a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with experience in a business partnering or management accounting role, ideally within a charity or similar environment. Tabard Court is a mental health supported accommodation for individual with significant offending histories. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, providing support to customers with a range of mental health needs - emotional, social, physical or domestic -, who have had contact with the Criminal Justice System. You will be skilled in engaging both customers and stakeholders and have a good understanding of the needs and diversity of this client group. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a therapeutic environment that at times can be challenging and provide quality evidenced based care and risk management strategies working closely with clinical colleagues. You will have a thorough understanding of the principles of recovery, be highly motivated and committed, making a significant contribution to the development of the service and building on your previous experience and skills in the fields of mental health and/or criminal justice system.
The post holder will facilitate the liaison between Tabard Court and mental health services in the area and work flexibly to respond to emerging needs and effectively address the needs of the customer case load.
This role will include shift working including: every other weekends, early shifts (8am start) and late shifts (until 10pm).
