Research Officer

The Centre for Justice Innovation is looking to recruit a pragmatic and thoughtful Research Officer to help us advocate for evidence-based reform to criminal and family justice policy and practice in the UK.

Terms: Full time (35 hours per week), permanent, 27 days annual leave (rising to 30 days after 2 years’ service). Job share arrangements may be considered.

What will you be doing?

Our Research Officer will play a key pivotal in strengthening the evidence base for innovation across the UK’s justice systems. The role will have a particular focus on improving outcomes for women in the criminal justice system and for families in the family justice system, including through our work overseeing FDAC.

Undertaking qualitative and mixed methods research, you will draw out the voices of people with lived experience and frontline practitioners on issues like:

• Improving the treatment of women in the criminal justice system
• Joined up responses to domestic abuse
• Making sure that children and families involved in the family justice system have the right support.

Your duties will include:

• Undertaking qualitative and mixed-methods research projects
• Working with other team members to design research methodologies
• Carrying out fieldwork with people with lived experience, practitioners and other informants
• Drafting research reports and other research outputs
• Presenting your findings at events
• Working alongside our practice team to produce accessible evidence summaries for practitioners
• Working with our policy team to frame research findings to create policy change

AHF is seeking an England Development Manager (Heritage Revival Fund) to co‑lead our core grants and advisory programme across England. This role has been created following the recent announcement of significant new investment, which will support the expansion of the Heritage Revival Fund through to 2030. This investment will enable AHF, in partnership with DCMS and Historic England, to provide grants to hundreds of communities across England, helping them bring neglected historic buildings back into use.

Ideally based in southern or central England with focus on southern half of the country. The postholder will work jointly with the current England Development Manager (HRF), who will focus on the northern half of England. Together, they will oversee activity and workflow across the whole country. The role also includes joint management of the England grants team (who work remotely) and programme budget, working flexibly and collaboratively to ensure the successful delivery of AHF’s core programme.

We are looking for a candidate with strong experience across the key responsibilities of the role, including team management, programme budget oversight, and reporting. Ideally, they will bring a proven track record of leadership within the heritage or charitable sector. Candidates must have strong numerical and financial skills, excellent attention to detail, confidence using common IT and Office systems, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Head of Programme Operations

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Location: The role can be based in London, United Kingdom, Abuja, Nigeria or Kigali, Rwanda, subject to right to work eligibility in the respective countries.

About the Team

The Programme Operations team sits within WaterAid UK’s International Programmes Department (IPD), operating in 17 countries in Africa and Asia. The team is a diverse and motivated group of 14+ people made up of planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting (PMER), project design and management, and programme systems specialists. They support global operational excellence, PMER, risk management, donor compliance and performance assurance across WaterAid UK’s country and regional programmes. Working in partnership with regional and country leadership teams, the function provides technical oversight, systems development and operational support to strengthen programme delivery and organisational accountability.

About the Role

The Head of Programme Operations leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WaterAid’s international programme operations framework. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across programme operations, business management, systems, risk and compliance.

Key responsibilities include overseeing IPD business management processes, supporting financial planning and performance reporting, acting as a delegated focal point for operational risk, and providing senior troubleshooting support on complex operational and management challenges.

The role works in close partnership with Programme Funding to ensure operational readiness for new donor opportunities and effective grant start-up and close-out. It also leads operational assurance processes, strengthens compliance with donor and organisational requirements, and supports capacity strengthening across regional and country teams.

To be successful, you’ll need:

Quakers in Britain is looking for a Faith in Action Coordinator to help strengthen and grow grassroots Quaker activism for positive social change. This is an ideal role for a ‘people person’ who is passionate about empowering others.

You will be working to strengthen a faith-driven movement by taking action on a range of peace and justice issues. You will bring a flexible, problem-solving approach to the work, providing advice and support to Quakers working on local projects and campaigns. You will help to build a stronger network of Quaker activists, who are inspired by faith and can learn from and support each other.

Building and nurturing good relationships is key to this role. You will need to respond with empathy and sensitivity to the needs of individuals and groups and identify how best to support them in their work. You will also need good organisational skills and be able to reflect on and learn from your work to inform future planning. The Faith in Action Coordinators also work with the wider team to contribute to newsletters and web and video resources to support Quakers to take action for climate justice and peace.

This is a unique opportunity to manage the finances of a thriving charity, whilst also working closely with the Board of Trustees and the Senior Management Team to support governance and operational administration, and ensuring the charity is enabled to run seamlessly and deliver impactful support to local families.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day to day finances of the charity
• Provide timely and accurate management reporting, and preparation of year end accounts
• Produce financial information and data analysis for reports to funders and funding applications, as required
• Service the Board of Trustees and AGM in consultation with the CEO, and maintain Trustee records.
• Ensure Charity Commission and Companies House filings are up to date
• Ensure all operational policies are updated and reviewed on a rolling basis by the Board of Trustees
• IT & equipment management – maintaining fixed asset register and equipment logs, and managing the relationship with external IT support and software licenses
• Support the Operations manager with management of the office space, including ensuring accuracy of bills & meter readings, and managing the relationship with key suppliers eg EDF and our landlord

What You’ll Bring

• Full or part qualified or working towards a relevant accountancy qualification
• Experience of using a digital accounts package for bookkeeping (Quickbooks desirable)
• Experience of producing management accounts, budgets and financial information, and preparing draft financial accounts 
• Experience of servicing a Board level committee including minute taking, preparing agendas, papers and minutes. 
• Good written and verbal communication skills 
• Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills 
• Excellent attention to detail & accuracy in reporting detailed financial information 
• Strong planning and organisational skills with ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines
• Team player - ability to work flexibly as part of a small multi-disciplinary team and on own initiative

The British Society of Echocardiography represents clinical echocardiography professionals and our aim is to provide our members with the necessary education and professional support to deliver the highest standard of care in echocardiography. We achieve this by providing accreditation and education and working with the echo community to meet their needs.

The Society is a registered charity and is administered by a Board of Trustees supported by the Advisory Council. Membership is open to everyone associated with echocardiography including cardiac physiologists, clinical scientists, cardiologists, anaesthetists, intensivists, and others and currently stands at over 5700 members.

The Accreditation Officer will act as one of the main contacts for all BSE Accreditation-related matters and will collaborate with the BSE Accreditation Manager, Accreditation team, as well as the Chairs, assessors, and office staff to ensure consistency and high standards of work. 

The post holder will be responsible for the effective joint facilitation of BSE personal and departmental accreditation, including organising and delivering written examinations and practical assessments. The role involves providing support for all applications related to both accreditation streams, ensuring they are handled in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner at every stage of the accreditation process. 

Delivering to a high standard, the successful candidate will possess strong organisational skills and be skilled at multitasking.
