Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) was founded in 2004 and is a charity that fights malaria in a highly effective, accountable and transparent way.

We do this by purchasing and distributing multiple millions of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) at a time in nationwide universal coverage campaigns. This is the most cost effective way of preventing malaria. AMF receives donations from the public and in the current financial year to date have received over US$125m. AMF is particularly data-focused and monitors and reports on net use and drives and supports innovation to improve the effectiveness of malaria programmes.

AMF is the world’s third largest funder of nets.

AMF has been rated a top charity for all of the last 16 years by independent charity evaluators GiveWell and The Life You Can Save who focus on cost-effectiveness and impact.

We are a team of thirteen highly motivated individuals with different skills and experience. Each person has an important role to play. All team members work remotely with constant communication between them. While the team is small, the impact is big - our net distributions protect millions of people. Our largest programme is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we are funding 55 million nets to protect 100 million people for distribution during 2024 to 2026. We have ongoing multi-million net programmes in other countries including Chad, Guinea, Nigeria, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.

Role Description

Our activities and commitments are steadily increasing, and 2025 and 2026 will be particularly busy years of distributions, with over ~100m nets planned for distribution. In light of this, AMF is recruiting a Senior Operations Manager to join the operations team and play an important role in ensuring the success of the net distributions. We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and intellectual skills who is able to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking on significant responsibility by leading on several of AMF’s programmes.

The role will include involvement in all stages of a distribution campaign (pre-agreement, net procurement, post-agreement, during distribution, and post distribution) across two main areas:

1. Work with National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs)
2. Work with AMF’s independent monitoring partners

Further information

The Senior Operations Manager will lead on several of AMF’s programmes. They will work closely with NMCPs, in country partners, AMF independent monitors, the AMF Operations and Technology teams to ensure the success of AMF distributions.

More specifically, they will manage the distributions through the following stages:

1 - Pre agreement

• Establishing the funding gap
• Establishing the net need, malaria burden, insecticide resistance data
• Working with the Ministry of Health to negotiate and put in place an agreement for the programme

2 - Net procurement

• Working with AMF’s procurement lead to order nets in time for the distribution

3 - Post-agreement

• After signature of the agreement, working with countries to put in place the plans for key elements, in particular: electronic data collection, 5% re-visits, net tracking
• Tender for and select an independent partner for distribution monitoring, and work closely with this partner that will be AMF’s eyes and ears in country

4 - During the distribution

• Track information coming from monitoring partners
• Analyse with the Head of Analytics registration and distribution data and take actions if needed
• Account for all AMF nets

5 - Post distribution

• Tender for and select an independent partner for post distribution monitoring, and work closely with this partner to carry out surveys at 9, 18 and 27 months post-distribution
• Share results with in-country partners and encourage appropriate actions to be taken

Through these stages, it will be important to maintain strong relationships with the key partners, notably the National Malaria Control Programmes, distribution partners and cofounding partners to ensure that distributions are carried out according to the agreements signed between the Ministry of Health and AMF.

These relationships will ensure that solutions can be found constructively to issues that arise during implementation of AMF’s programmes. Aside from the areas above, there will be other work related to AMF Group Operations, dependent on the candidate’s skill set.

Characteristics of the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and intellectual skills, who works collaboratively in a team and relishes responsibility and the opportunity to learn and develop their abilities. The ideal candidate will be motivated to help improve the lives of those affected by the wider impacts of malaria.

Required

• Fluent French and English
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships
• Strong analytical skills and be able to use Excel confidently
• A self-starter who is highly organised with the ability to work independently and manage working time effectively
• Strong project management skills and comfort handling meetings with senior staff
• Comfort in dealing with and learning about financial matters, willing to examine budgets in detail
• At least four years work experience. The skills and potential of the candidate take priority over prior experience and we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
• An interest in driving down malaria rates through procedure changes and the use of technology

Other role details

Reporting to: Operations Director

Location: Remote working within Africa/UK/Europe time zones (all the AMF team work remotely), with a preference for UK based. Please note that applications from outside these time zones will not be reviewed.

The cost of any co-working office space will be covered by AMF. For those living outside London, trips to London during the first three months are encouraged to spend time working with the Operations Director and AMF team.

Initial salary: £50,000 to £60,000

Travel: travel to Africa will be expected. Trips are planned flexibly in discussion with the team. The number and duration will vary year on year, and range from approximately 4 to 8 weeks per year.

Job Purpose

The Fundraising Manager will work closely with the CEO to execute the fundraising strategy for Child’s i Foundation, with a focus on driving regular giving, community fundraising, and individual giving initiatives. Additionally, you will support the CEO in cultivating major gifts and managing corporate partnerships.

You will play a key role in providing collaborative support to our emerging fundraising effort in Uganda, particularly with their innovative 'Giving Circle' programme, which is backed by the Ugandan Board. Working closely with the communications team in Uganda, you will help deliver impactful campaigns that raise awareness and inspire donor engagement. In this role, you will also ensure the highest standards in database management and full compliance with data protection regulations.

This role will be UK-based, with occasional team meetings in various locations across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

1. Community Fundraising and Regular Giving:

• Develop and execute strategies to increase income from individual donors and community fundraising efforts.

• Manage and expand our existing personalised donor stewardship programme, enhancing engagement with regular givers while growing the donor base and building long-term partnership. 

• Develop and manage a comprehensive fundraising event calendar, incorporating high-impact challenge events, community-driven initiatives, and donor engagement activities to maximise donations and donor retention

• Grow regular giving through campaigns, such as the Christmas Appeal and The Big Give, while bringing your own expertise and creative ideas to develop new fundraising initiatives.

• Collaborate closely with the Uganda team to deliver compelling, real-time updates and powerful stories that deeply engage and inspire our supporter community, starting with the problem we aim to address.

2. Corporate Partnerships:

• Collaborate with the CEO to manage and strengthen corporate relationships, ensuring consistent communication and delivering timely, detailed impact reports that demonstrate the value of their support.

• Collaborate with the CEO to identify and cultivate new corporate prospects, focusing on high-potential sectors such as women in private equity, insurance, and banking to strategically expand our portfolio.

• Craft compelling, customised cases for support that align with corporate priorities, securing long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships driving sustainable income.

3. Major Donor Programme:

• Support the CEO in managing relationships with major donors to ensure consistent engagement and stewardship.

• Identify and cultivate new major donor prospects, maintaining a strong pipeline for future support.

• Provide tailored progress reports to major donors and plan cultivation events to enhance donor relationships.

• Assist in establishing a development board to attract and engage niche, high-value donor groups.

4. Trusts and Foundations:

• Research and identify trust and foundation opportunities, targeting grants from £5k to £50k+.

• Prepare and submit well-researched applications, and ensure timely, accurate reporting to funders.

• Focus on securing smaller trust grants to diversify income streams.

5. Data-Driven Fundraising Reporting and Strategic Planning

• Collaborate with the CEO to set fundraising targets and manage the annual budget, ensuring progress is tracked against key goals and income streams.

• Produce regular, data-driven reports to assess fundraising performance, donor retention, and campaign effectiveness, using insights to inform strategic decision-making.

• Oversee the donor database in collaboration with the Administration Manager, ensuring all donor interactions are accurately recorded and GDPR-compliant.

• Ensure compliance with data protection laws and fundraising regulations, keeping updated on any changes to maintain best practices across all activities.

• Use data insights to refine and enhance fundraising strategies, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with organisational goals.

​​Person Specification (Skills & Experience) Essential:

• Proven experience in raising funds across diverse income streams (e.g., regular giving, community fundraising, corporate partnerships, and major donors).

• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and maintain donor and partner relationships, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Expertise in developing and implementing fundraising strategies that meet or exceed ambitious income targets, including creative campaign design (e.g., The Big Give).

• Experience in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines, demonstrating strong organisational and time management abilities.

• Competence in setting, managing, and monitoring budgets with a clear understanding of financial targets and revenue growth.

• Proficiency in using CRM systems (ideally Salesforce) to track donor engagement and ensuring strict compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.

• Solid understanding of UK fundraising laws, data protection regulations, and industry best practices.

• A self-starter with the ability to work independently and proactively drive initiatives, while also collaborating effectively with teams in the UK and Uganda.

The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is a membership organisation dedicated to promoting and enhancing the science and practice of infection prevention and control (IPC) within all health and care settings. In order to deliver this strategy, in early 2024 the Board of Trustees took the decision to recruit the Society’s first staff team, moving the organisation from a model that had been led by volunteers and operationally managed with an association management organisation.  The intention is this decision will transform the Society, taking it to the next phase in its evolution, and furthering our goals of supporting our members, improving IPC practice, ensure equity of access and support for a diverse and multidisciplinary workforce, and influencing and shaping IPC education and policy.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join an important organisation in the battle for public health and infection prevention, and a chance to work in close partnership with the Board of Trustees to create and execute new activities which will grow and sustain the Society for future IPC professionals and have a positive impact on the prevention of infection. 

Position Overview: 

Currently, the IPS events and education portfolio includes: 

• Annual Conference which attracts over 700 attendees, 80 exhibitors/sponsors. The programme is developed and delivered by our Scientific Programme Committee, and the event is operationally managed and delivered by an external Professional Conference Organiser (PCO). 

• Up 20 one/two day in person/hybrid events currently developed and delivered by our volunteers, our corporate partners or a PCO. 

• Online resources – developed and delivered by our Education and Professional Development Committee (EPDC), Branches and Special Interest Groups. 

The Annual Conference will continue to be managed by a PCO and the organisation of our committees smaller annual conferences will be supported by our own team.

We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced Education and Events Executive to join our newly formed team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and execution of educational programs and events aimed at advancing the understanding and practice of infection prevention and control. 

This will be an exciting and challenging role where Education and Events Executive will work with the Education and Events Manager to deliver up to 20 one-day events per year, either as in person, virtual or hybrid events.

Key Responsibilities: 

Educational Programme Development: 

• Working with the Education and Events Manager, assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive educational programme that aligns with IPS objectives and serves the needs of our members. 

• Assist with the production and development of educational materials and resources. 

• Take ownership of the promotion and communication of the IPS’ courses and all educational materials and resources. 

Event Planning and Execution: 

• Work closely with the Education and Events Manager to plan, organise, and ensure the professional execution of the educational programme including educational resources, conferences, workshops and webinars. 

• To be the point of contact with regional volunteers to assist them with their events, and ensure a consistent calibre of IPS event is achieved throughout the regions. 

• Under direction from the Events and Education Manager, assist or deliver all aspects of event planning and logistics, including venue management, online registration, delivery via a virtual platform, sponsorship and exhibition management, catering, audio-visual requirements, and onsite staffing as required. 

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful event delivery, 

• Actively work with colleagues to communicate and promote the IPS’ courses as well as all educational materials and resources. 

• Actively engage with sponsors, speakers and other stakeholders, and act as first point of contact for all enquiries. 

• Ensure any sponsor and exhibitor deliverables are met, and that stakeholders are satisfied with the calibre of events. 

• Foster member engagement through educational initiatives, ensuring alignment with the society's goals and objectives. 

Financial Management: 

• Develop and manage budgets for educational programmes and events to ensure that the event programme achieves a surplus within the first 12 months. 

• Consistently monitor budgets, expenses and revenue to ensure agreed financial targets are met. 

Marketing & Communications: 

• With the Education and Events Manager, help devise a marketing and communications strategy for both the educational and events outputs of the Society 

• Take ownership of the Society’s marketing and social media strategies as it related to events and education

• Regularly update the events and education sections of the Society’s website, and work with the Membership Engagement Manager to ensure maximum take up of educational courses and IPS events. 

• Disseminate marketing materials to regional volunteers and assist them with their events marketing strategies. 

Other: 

• Research potential sponsors and partners for programmes and events 

• Actively build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, speakers, and sponsors. 

• Collaborate with relevant organisations to expand the reach and impact of IPS educational initiatives. 

• Assist with the development of individual events budgets as required. 

Our ideal candidate will 

Offer the following experience: 

• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (education, event management, healthcare, etc.). 

• Proven experience in education resources planning and management, ideally within a similar professional body or learned society. 

• Proven experience of planning and executing educational events, preferably in the healthcare or professional association sector. 

• Excellent project management skills with attention to detail. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write for a variety of audiences, and able to demonstrate an innovative and creative approach

We are looking to appoint a Volunteer Manager to lead the development and delivery of our Neuro Changemakers programme. Key activities will include recruitment and management of volunteers to lead self-help groups, setting up the administrative infrastructure to deliver these groups at scale, and to review our existing volunteer & ambassador strategy.

Reporting to the Professional Services Manager, the Volunteer Manager will be responsible for all aspects of volunteer activity for the Neuro Changemakers programme, including recruitment, induction, training, support and volunteer engagement and retention.

The Volunteer Manager will work closely with all our internal departments and external volunteer networks, acting as the first point of reference on volunteering process and policy across the organisation.

The successful candidate must have strong experience delivering volunteer-led programmes in support of vulnerable service users, with a proven track record in administration and volunteer project management. The ideal candidate will have experience growing such a programme to ambitious targets, and delivering at scale. Familiarity with neurology, neuroscience and neurological conditions is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will make a significant contribution towards the growth and success of our Neuro Changemakers programme through our online self- help groups across the UK. Just as crucially we provide valuable opportunities for individuals with lived experience of neurological conditions to gain skills and support others with their own experiences, as part of their own recovery and personal development journeys.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Responsible for attracting, recruiting and retaining volunteers based on the organisational strategy for Neuro Changemakers.
• Working closely with the Professional Services Manager to ensure sufficient volunteers are available to meet organisational needs.
• Recruitment, training, induction and ongoing volunteer development.
• Working closely with the Professional Services Manager to deliver a comprehensive volunteer training programme.
• Support strategies to capture M&E data within the Neuro Changemakers programme.
• Outreach and mapping with volunteers to further understand our community’s needs, and to develop the case for setting up new groups in high priority and high need areas.
• Liaison with local authorities in areas to connect to local resources and promotion.
• Act as a deputy safeguarding lead, to ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed by all volunteers, including sensitive handling of any complaints, following correct procedures.
• Liaise with partner organisations to further the Neuro Changemaker programme.

Skills & Experience

• Strong professional experience of working in a management capacity to deliver services, with experience of developing policy and collaborative working.
• Proven in-depth experience in managing volunteers (understanding best practice across all elements).
• Experience of working with vulnerable service users, understanding the skillset required to work with people affected by a neurological condition and carers e.g. to set up and lead support groups.
