We’re looking for an inspiring and inclusive leader with experience in visitor operations and land management to oversee the visitor facilities at RSPB Newport Wetlands on the Gwent Levels.

As Site Manager, you’ll be responsible for delivering site objectives alongside a high-quality visitor experience. With over 70,000 visitors a year and a thriving membership recruitment operation, Newport Wetlands is a key site for connecting people with nature. You’ll lead and inspire a highly committed team of staff and volunteers to deliver excellence, therefore line management and leadership experience are essential for this role.

You will also work alongside a variety of colleagues from across the RSPB in a matrix structure, including (but not limited to) consultants within the Visitor Operations Team, health and safety, rural surveyors, ecology, fundraising, project management, communications and policy.

Newport Wetlands is a gateway site within the Living Levels landscape partnership, which is a strong and aligned partnership that is driving a range of ambitious initiatives across the Levels.

The successful candidate will be a capable manager who works well with a wide range of people and can collaborate effectively with partners at all levels. Your strong programme and people management skills will help the team achieve the best possible outcomes against our priorities.

You’ll lead work programmes and projects, so enthusiasm, initiative, and diplomacy are key. You’ll need to communicate your passion for nature to others and have a hands-on approach to solving practical challenges.

You’ll need experience of managing income and expenditure budgets and have a commercially minded approach to ensure that we deliver a great visitor experience and generate a profit. You’ll also need to be a good, clear communicator and have an eye for detail, be able to manage systems and processes to ensure that they are all legally, financially and organisationally compliant.

As Site Manager you will:

• Manage day to day operations for people, visitors, finance and legal compliance, habitats and species
• Inspire, lead and develop the dedicated team of staff and volunteers
• Be responsible for the review, update and implementation of the site business plan
• Act as the main point of contact for the local community, neighbours, and partner organisations in order maintain good relationships
• Enjoy the support of a very experienced local team, area manager, visitor operations consultants, ecologists, rural surveyor, safety advisor and other specialist RSPB staff.

Since 2000, SongBird Survival has been fighting for a better future for UK songbirds, and they are the only national UK charity solely dedicated to make a positive impact for songbirds in the face of this devastating ecological emergency. We’re looking for someone who wants to join our busy charity to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives. With experience in bookkeeping and financial administration, you will love numbers (and spreadsheets), have great attention to detail and be an excellent communicator.  Working closely with the Director, you will be responsible for the administration of the Charity’s finances, including lots of different projects, accounts and a wide variety of transactions. You will lead on tasks including:

• Weekly - invoice processing, payments, petty cash, bank deposits and reconciliation etc
• Monthly - compiling monthly payroll, creating management accounts/financial reports, supporting Project Managers with financial analysis, and reporting to Director/Trustees
• Annual – preparing budgets, submitting financial returns, reporting at the Annual General Meeting, and working with the accountancy firm to complete the financial audit.
• Ad hoc –financial support for Farm Events, developing budgets and other enquiries.

As a member of the Farm’s Operational Management team, you will support the organisation with financial insights and guidance to help us develop the charity, remain sustainable and achieve our mission.

• Contract type: Permanent 
• Salary: Salary between £33,024 and £36,648 depending on experience.
• Hours of work: 28 hours per week (with some flexibility for the right candidate, but not less than 21 hours per week) largely undertaken between 9 - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

• Collaborate closely with the Business and Operations Manager to support the overall management of meetings, including preparing detailed agendas, taking comprehensive minutes during meetings, and circulating documents to all participants in a timely manner, ensuring that all follow-up actions are clearly outlined. 

Event Coordination 

• Coordinate a variety of events and meetings, supporting logistics such as venue selection, catering orders, accessability requirements and technical arrangements.

• Assist in the planning and scheduling of member events and meetings, ensuring all details are attended to, such as invitations, attendee confirmations, and venue preparations. 

Project Administration 

• Maintain comprehensive administrative records relevant to projects, ensuring that all documentation is current and easily accessible to project team members. 

Record Keeping 

• Establish and maintain accurate records, comprehensive databases, and organised documentation related to office operations and employee activities, including diligent management of the CRM system to ensure timely updates and accuracy of information. 

Finance 

• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports, maintaining accurate and organised accounting records, and supporting the reconciliation of accounts to ensure data integrity.

General 

• Support the organisation to achieve its corporate objectives. 

• Be a proactive and professional representative of VODG and its values at all times, including in relation to the prioritisation of your own responsibilities and professional development.

The Mill is a small scale multi-art form venue with big ambitions. Situated in the North Oxfordshire market town of Banbury, it is the focus of cultural life as the only public arts and performance venue in the Cherwell District.

Our 237-seat theatre plays host to high quality professional theatre, dance, comedy and music productions, whilst supporting opportunities for local community arts organisations to work and perform in a professional space. Our studio facilities offer a packed creative learning and participation programme focusing on both the visual and performing arts, covering everything from jewellery making to yoga, watercolour painting to creative writing and much more in between. In addition our café/bar and gallery area offers opportunities for local artists to exhibit and sell their work. Increasingly we are working outside of our building and in partnership with a wide range of artists and organisations both in Banbury and Bicester to ensure that all in our communities can experience the evidential health and wellbeing benefits of seeing and taking part in professionally led creative and cultural activities.

The Development Manager will lead on delivery of The Mill Arts Centre’s fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on establishing new income streams through relationship-based fundraising including through the prospecting and stewardship of high-net worth individuals, companies and legacies.

You will develop and implement strategies to recruit and cultivate new supporters and oversee the stewardship of current relationships with care, with a focus on building new income streams from mid and major gifts.

Purpose of post

By instruction and in partnership with the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) the Programme Director will manage and coordinate the operational areas of VFCC based on company policies, goals, and objectives to ensure an efficient working environment and that deadlines are met. The Programme Director prioritise the target/ objectives. We are looking for an experienced Programme Director to supervise a wide range of programs. You will be responsible for the delivery and overall success of each program. You will supervise teams and inform management on progress and performance.

A successful Programme Director must have a broad knowledge of program management principles. They must have a strategic mindset as well as be able to lead and develop their subordinates.

The goal is to ensure every program will be delivered successfully and add the highest possible value to the organization

Key tasks

• The Programme Director will assist senior management in establishing the development of the organisations long-term business Plan.
• The Programme Director will ensure that the strategic aims and planning of departments budgets/objectives are in conjunction and agreed by the CEO.
• The Programme Director will be responsible for monitoring workflow, ensuring optimal productivity, performance, milestones and deadlines are met across the organization.
• The Programme Director will be responsible for managing the performance and objectives for key staff.

The Programme Director will also be responsible for:

• CRM system – lamplight.
• Fundraising – to support the fundraising strategy and monitor and produce reports.
• Assist SMT in setting goals that promote company growth which will support the strategic objectives of the organisation.

• Prepare budgets, schedules, and other organisational reports as needed .
• Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine and manage the need for improvements team workloads to meet goals and deadlines.

• Work closely with other departments to promote efficient optimisation.

• The Programme Director will occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends with the occasional requirement to stay away from home overnight.

About this role

At SPANA, we support a network of global partners working through both a short- term small grants and long- term programmes – known as our Senior Partners. Senior Partners represent key strategic investments in our mission to enhance working animal welfare. These programmes are established country offices, each led by dedicated Country Directors who oversee the implementation of our work. Our initiatives in these regions reflect a commitment to delivering holistic programming across a range of interventions to improve the welfare of working animals. 

As Programme Manager you will lead our critical relationships and day to day activities with SPANA Senior Partners in overseas country offices delivering our international programmes. You will be responsible for managing activities across SPANA’s international programme work including budget reporting, grant making and management as well as procurement. You are a key part of SPANA’s Global Programs Department (GPD) team and report to the Senior Programmes Manager.
