Location: Hybrid – NASP have an office space at London's Southbank Centre which can be used by staff at any time. Purpose of This Role:

This is a key role within the NASP Operations team, providing exceptional support to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) currently consisting of CEO, Executive Director of Strategy & Partnerships, and Director of Operations; as well as the Board of Trustees. In addition, the role will play a central role in driving best practice and efficiency across the organisation as part of the wider Operations team.

The role will support communication between NASP and our key stakeholders and partners (including government officials, ministerial departments, and international sector leaders), providing detailed administrative support, requiring a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work flexibly and proactively. In addition, the role will act as the main point of contact for our relationship with London's Southbank Centre, where the NASP office is based, including managing room bookings and logistics for key meetings.

The role would suit an energetic, proactive, and highly organised individual who is driven by the mission of NASP, and wants to contribute across the organisation to make an impact. As a member of the Operations team, there may also be opportunities to apply the core skills of this role, such as scheduling, logistics, and document creation/management, to support wider organisational projects; and to develop within the role, depending on agreed FTE and capacity.

Person Specification:

Experience & Knowledge:

• Experience providing high-level EA/PA support; managing complex diaries and mailboxes

• Experience supporting formal meetings, including arranging logistics, agendas, and preparation/dissemination of key documentation

• Minute-taking and summarising of key headlines/actions

• Event management skills such as preparing itineraries and schedules, risk assessments, arranging catering and production, and liaising with venues

• Experience of office management, such as ordering supplies and liaising with service providers

Responsibilities:

Executive Assistant:

• Providing detailed diary administration for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), consisting of CEO, Executive Director of Strategy & Partnerships, and Director of Operations; prioritising and taking a pro-active approach to both short and long-term planning

• Providing wider diary and scheduling support for the organisation where appropriate (e.g. senior management meetings)

• Supporting key meetings as appropriate, including drafting agendas, minuting, and preparing documentation, as well as logistical support (e.g. room/venue bookings, catering, etc.)

• Supporting ELT in the preparation of materials for presentations such as for Board Meetings, Staff sessions, such as designing/formatting slides & briefing documents

• Acting as an approachable first-point-of-contact for all internal and external stakeholders for ELT and the wider organisation

• Supporting stakeholder management, including tracking contacts, updating statuses, arranging key meetings, and managing key external relationships

Operations Support & Office Management:

• Oversee shared mailboxes where needed, and providing cover for Operations colleagues when appropriate

The UK Development Director will be driving force for income growth and diversification for the organisation, expanding relationships across philanthropy giving including major donors, partnerships, and other high value donors. Setting income generation strategy to drive growth and achieve the organisation's objectives, this role will be a strategic leader reporting to the Global Director of Development and oversee a small team of two to deliver fundraising success. As a Rough Sleeping Outreach and Assessment Worker, you’ll play a vital role in our Street Outreach Service and the new 24-hour Assessment Centre. One night you could be out on the street engaging with people sleeping rough; the next day you might be welcoming someone to the centre, creating a support plan, and linking them to housing and health services.

What you’ll do

• Carry out late-night street outreach and day-time reception shifts as part of a rota.

Purpose of the job:

Develop, lead, implement, and ensure internal and external communications strategies are maintained and in line with PCS policy.

Lead on the strategic direction of the unions communications and oversee delivery, digital strategy, membership engagement and internal communications.

To advise and work alongside the National Management Team, National Executive Committee and partners to devise and implement communications campaigns and projects.

To assist in maximising the potential for union growth, development and success, and to encourage membership participation through robust communication strategies.

To undertake a management role with direct responsibility for staff ensuring that the work of the communications team is in line with the wider objectives of the union.

External:

PCS staff and managers across regions, Senior Management Team, National Management Team and other PCS departments.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Key areas

• Lead on, develop and implement internal and external communication strategies that align with the union's overall goals
• Create and oversee communication materials such as the creation of promotional and informative materials, digital campaigns, print materials, social media, audio and video
• Conduct quality controls on all communications, ensuring that all union communications and materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding
• Responding to crises or challenging situations quickly and professionally
• Contribute to the strategic development of the Unions policy objectives including the PCS planning process
• Provide support and have direct involvement through the National Management Team (NMT) in the unions bargaining, organising, campaigning, equality, learning and digital agendas
• Manage people and resources in the communications team
• Represent PCS at external meetings
• Provide advice to and lead relevant committees including the preparation and presentation of reports
• Monitor and report on issues and initiatives as requested
• Provide input into budgetary processes including bid preparation, monitoring and control where relevant

2. People Management

• Manage work allocation and workflow, future planning and support for officer team/line manager
• Motivate and manage individuals and the team as a whole to provide a high standard of service
• Check work standards and maintain consistent quality of delegated tasks
• Seek to continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team
• Through induction, the appraisal system and one-to-ones, identify staff training and development needs, train or organise formal/informal training
• Proactively promote diversity in line with the wider PCS approach
• Apply the staff conduct policies as and when required e.g. discipline, grievance, capability, dignity at work and IT security policies
• Provide advice and deal with complex issues related to staff management including disciplinary or grievance in consultation with line manager
• Ensure that the health, safety and welfare of staff is maintained and improved, in accordance with PCS and statutory policies
• Work effectively with lay officials
• Deputise for line manager when required

3. Communication

• Ensure digitalisation, information and communications methods are effectively implemented and used to generate improvements
• Draft complex communications including briefs and reports to staff and members
• Communicate with members by producing circulars and briefings and by addressing meetings and conferences when required
• As necessary, represent PCS and liaise with outside bodies

4. Team Working

• Proactively promote team working and collaboration across the organisation
• Initiate, organise, lead and participate in team meetings as appropriate
• Maintain high levels of confidentiality of sensitive issues at all times
• Provide assistance to team members

• Contribute to PCS policies on equal opportunities by developing innovative workplace strategies to tackle inequality and discrimination

• Participate and input information into PCS planning and budgeting processes

ESSENTIAL FACTORS

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, English or a related field or equivalent demonstrable experience

EXPERIENCE

• 5 years experience in communications field within a complex membership organisation
• People management including induction, work allocation, appraisal and conduct

• High level project management, problem solving and decision making

Waking Hostel Night Shift Worker – £22,207 per year 
Richmond (Kew Road) – Part-time, 30 hours per week (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 9.45 pm – 8.45 am)

As a Waking Hostel Night Shift Worker, you’ll stay awake throughout the night to keep the hostel secure, provide practical and emotional support, and respond quickly to any issues, safeguarding residents and ensuring everyone feels respected and safe.

What you’ll do

• Be the first point of contact overnight, providing a welcoming and supportive presence.
• Carry out regular building patrols, monitor doors and access points, and respond calmly to emergencies or disputes.
• Identify and act on safeguarding concerns, following SPEAR’s procedures and escalating issues promptly.
• Keep accurate records of overnight activity and incidents, and give a clear handover to day staff.
• Handle calls and general enquiries, and liaise with on-call managers when required.
• Support residents with practical needs and maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere.

What you bring

• Experience supporting people affected by homelessness or rough sleeping, including those with complex needs.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and confidence to identify and escalate concerns.
• A calm, approachable manner and the resilience to manage challenging behaviour.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills, plus the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work regular night shifts and occasionally attend daytime training or meetings.

• Build trusting relationships and provide flexible, one-to-one support.
