Job description

The role

Do you have the empathy and commitment to help people make real, life-changing breakthroughs? At GamCare, you’ll be there when someone takes their first step towards recovery, supporting people and families affected by gambling harms to rebuild their lives with hope and confidence.

As a Gambling Support Practitioner, you will play a key role in helping people affected by gambling harms to make positive changes. You'll provide one-to-one and group support, both in person and online, giving people the tools and encouragement they need to regain control, repair relationships, and move forward. You will create tailored recovery plans using proven approaches to build confidence and resilience. Alongside your client work, you will also have the opportunity to help raise awareness of our services by attending community events, building partnerships, and ensuring more people know where to turn for help.

About you

Your background in supporting people through mental health, addictions, or social care has given you the skills to build trust quickly, listen with empathy, and adapt to each person’s needs. Compassionate and resilient, you are confident in handling sensitive situations and safeguarding responsibilities, always keeping recovery at the heart of your work. Just as importantly, you recognise the bigger picture: the chance not only to support individuals, but to challenge stigma, strengthen communities, and create lasting positive change by helping more people access GamCare’s services.

Why GamCare?

This is a great time to join GamCare as we are growing the reach of our services and strengthening our role as the UK’s leading charity for people affected by gambling harms. Since 1997, we’ve been at the forefront of support, delivering the National Gambling Helpline, treatment services, and community programmes that make a real difference. By joining us, you’ll be part of a passionate and expanding team, with the opportunity to help shape lives, strengthen communities, and grow professionally within an organisation that values your wellbeing as much as the people you support.

Benefits You Can Enjoy

  • 33 days basic annual leave entitlement per annum including bank holidays which increases with service
  • A generous Pension Scheme - we contribute 6% and you contribute 2%
  • Discretionary company sick pay from day one of service
  • Employee Assistance Programme – 24-hour support

We also have a vibrant and diverse event calendar full of monthly initiatives and webinars to support the ongoing physical and mental wellbeing of our people.

For further details and to apply please click the apply button.

Closing date for applications: Midnight Sunday 14th September 2025.

Interviews in person – week commencing 22nd September 2025.

This post requires a DBS check.

GamCare is committed to offering the best support to people affected by gambling harms, as such we welcome applications from candidates with lived experience.

GamCare is an equal opportunities employer and doesn’t discriminate based on race, religion, gender, age, sexuality, gender identification, or physical ability.
