We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Operations to lead the Institute’s operational functions, strengthen systems, and ensure efficient, effective support across finance, HR, IT, facilities and governance.

The role
As Director of Operations, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, providing operational leadership across the organisation. You will manage central services, ensure compliance, and enable BIICL to deliver its mission efficiently. This is a hands-on, strategic role requiring strong leadership, organisational insight and the ability to implement change across teams and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting, audit processes and project monitoring.
• Line manage the Finance Officer, Office Manager, and Systems Manager.
• Serve as Company Secretary, supporting the Board and Committees, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee HR policies, staffing, induction, appraisals and compliance with employment law and UKVI requirements.
• Ensure effective IT, CRM systems and facilities management.
• Support organisational strategy, change initiatives and senior-level projects.

About you
You are an experienced operational leader, ideally from the charity, higher education, or research sectors. Strategic yet practical, you combine financial and governance expertise with excellent people management and communication skills. You thrive on implementing systems, leading teams and enabling organisational success.

The Opportunity

Be part of a national team improving how services respond to domestic abuse.

As our Senior Trainer, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of our training offer, so more professionals have the confidence and skills to respond well to domestic abuse.

You will design and deliver engaging training online and in person, coordinate rotas and resources, uphold quality, and use feedback to keep content relevant and impactful. You will also line manage two Training Coordinators, nurture key client relationships, and support proposals and bookings that grow our reach and repeat business.

About You

You are an established trainer with experience in the Violence Against Women and Girls sector. You can design and deliver dynamic, inclusive sessions for mixed audiences, both online and in person, with strong feedback and repeat bookings to show for it.

You bring solid understanding of housing and health including safeguarding and local pathways, and you are confident running day to day operations, scheduling and capacity planning.

You have experience line managing people and setting clear standards through observation, coaching and quality assurance. You are comfortable scoping client needs, shaping simple SLAs and turning data and feedback into clear KPIs and reports.

You are trauma informed, anti-racist, collaborative and calm under pressure, with strong communication and sound judgement. A relevant training qualification such as PTLLS or equivalent is desirable.

Whilst this is a remote based job, you will need to be located within London/Home Counties area and be able to travel when required.

Starting Salary: 4Mid, £34,772.00 FTE, £20,863.20 Pro Rata. This is the starting salary within a band of incremental points, with progression subject to satisfactory annual reviews and available funding.

Night Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker

Job Title: Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker 

Location: Based in Catford in a well connected area near Bellingham, Catford, and Catford Bridge stations, with nearby bus stops. Please be kindly aware there is no step free access at this location and some of our other sites. 

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a rota which includes 3 to 4 night shifts a week between 20:00 - 08:30. There may be some flexibility required around these hours as per service requirements.

About the Role

We're looking for a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker to cover the night shift in our service based in Lewisham which offers specialist intensive rehabilitation for people who require more enhanced interventions than that which is offered by commissioned community services. We support residents who live with us for up to nine months and have been discharged from acute wards to avoid admission into inpatient rehabilitation. We support our residents to step down into less supported accommodation to become more independent and integrated into the community. 

In this role, you will ensure resident safety, wellbeing, and progress towards their recovery goals. You will support in creating an environment where they feel safe and empowered, and are building relationships with relevant partners and individuals key towards their journey. You will create support plans, plan and hold activities, and further support them to achieve greater independence. The night Shift plays a crucial role in continuing the high quality care provided during the day, ensuring a safe, respectful, and responsive environment for residents. night staff are expected to remain awake, alert, and actively engaged throughout their shift. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited and may lead to disciplinary action, including dismissal for gross misconduct.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Providing night support and supervision across two nearby residential properties.
• Monitoring residents’ wellbeing, carrying out regular checks, and responding to any incidents or emergencies.
• Supporting residents in achieving recovery and rehabilitation goals to promote independence.
• Maintain accurate records and handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts.
• Ensuring a calm, safe, and supportive environment that promotes positive engagement and progress.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and the management team to deliver high quality care.
• Remain alert and monitor CCTV throughout the shift.
• Complete all routine night duties and any tasks handed over by the day shift or service manager.
• Key worker responsibilities: complete inductions, support plans, reviews, risk assessments, and welfare checks; update records, monitor access, manage unauthorized visitors, follow missing person protocols, and escalate issues to on call when needed.

• Previous experience creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care planning, providing appropriate interventions for service users
• IT Proficiency; ability to learn new software and basic Microsoft
• Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with various challenging backgrounds, mental health, addiction, exploitation, homelessness, and previous convictions

Join Barnardo's Scotland Fostering North as a Supervising Social Worker

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Barnardo's Scotland Fostering North is looking for a dedicated Qualified Supervising Social Worker to join our dynamic and supportive team.

Hours: 30 per week (flexible working arrangements available)

Location: Hybrid, with travel across mainly in Moray and Highland and occasionally in Aberdeen, and Aberdeenshire. Wider travel across Scotland/England may be required for meetings and training. Our team meets both online and in-person at our Aberdeen office. 

About the Role

You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team including social workers, children's workers, therapists, managers, and administrative staff. Together, we recruit, supervise and support foster carers who provide safe, nurturing homes for looked after children and young people referred by Local Authorities.

We're seeking a qualified social worker with experience and enthusiasm in Children's Services/Fostering. You'll bring strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to trauma-informed practice, and the ability to work collaboratively across regions.
