The Opportunity

The Business Development Director will have strategic responsibility for income and growth, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to maximise business opportunities. You will lead development of key partnerships with new and existing stakeholders, commercialisation of services, and lead the communications and marketing strategy. The post holder will lead the Business Development Team, developing collaborative partnerships and leadership as part of the SLT and by supporting the Leeds Mind Board of Trustees.  You should have excellent commercial awareness, communication and interpersonal skills, drive and commitment to promote and deliver innovate high quality provision and experiences for people with mental health difficulties.

The Business Development Director will set a clear strategic plan for growth, leading our tendering and partnership processes to fulfil our strategic objectives and maximise our impact. In collaboration with CEO  and SLT, you will inform the strategic direction and deliver against key performance indicators in creating a progressive and agile culture. You will lead the implementation and development of income generation, developing and implementing strategies to drive all income streams to drive growth. You will develop a pipeline to maximise income from corporate partnerships, (including training), whilst looking at diversifying the portfolio to generate new business

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience/success in a leadership role in Charity Income Generation and sustainable business development
• Working knowledge of Charity Income Generation and regulations
• Good understanding of bid framework, commissioning, and tendering
• Experience of Third sector and charitable trusts
• Proven experience in devising, managing, and implementing a budget, financial modelling including meeting/exceeding targets.

Support Dog is a unique and innovative national charity that has been transforming the lives of families affected by autism, epilepsy and disability for 30 years.

Support Dogs trains and provides specialist assistance dog to give 100% reliable advance warning of epileptic seizures; to help children with autism to stay safe and better engage with the world around them. Our disability assistance dogs bring independence and a better quality of life for those with physical disabilities including MS, Cerebral Palsy and Fibromyalgia.

Founded and entirely based in Sheffield our charity operates across the UK, growing significantly over recent years. The demand for our work is overwhelming, with requests for support increasing ten-fold over the past few years. Support Dogs provides all of its services free of charge and relies entirely on voluntary donations for funding.

Funding from trusts and charitable foundations is vital to our charities ability to provide its vital, life saving work. Support Dogs is going through a period of growth and is looking for an experienced fundraiser to provide support to help us to reach further and maximise opportunities as our existing post holder takes maternity leave.

We are looking for a Fundraising Officer to lead the administration of CCT’s tiered membership programmes, annual and church-based appeals, legacies, and fundraising events. The Fundraising Officer will also support in the creation of marketing materials to support these initiatives.

Following the growth in audience development through online events and digital activity, CCT welcomed younger and international members and increased the number of donations. We have since witnessed decreased retention rates and are looking to implement methods to increase member and donor acquisition and retention.

The Role

In this new role as a Development Surveyor at the Trust, you'll play an important part in advancing our Property Strategy, taking forward capital projects, in support of extending our charitable impact and growing our income to do so. Working closely with the Property Director, you'll lead multiple capital projects of differing scales and varying timelines, focusing on the redevelopment of rural assets, brownfield sites, and new developments focused on rural land and property.

Your expertise will be instrumental in managing relationships with partners, planning authorities, consultants and influential stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. You'll be part of the Head Office-based Property team, with occasional travel to our rural landholdings across England.

ARMA (UK) is the professional association for research management in the UK. We currently have around 3,5000 individual members from 250 organisations, ranging from universities and research institutes to research funders and the National Health Service.

• As directed, manage relationships with funders, ensuring timely reporting that meets their needs. This will include drafting the funder newsletter (bi-monthly) and providing new materials, such as reports, films, audits, etc.

• Draft funding proposals and monitor all deadlines for reporting, planning for the timebound and efficient delivery, and working with team members to ensure the highest quality reports are drafted in good time.

• Organise a monthly meeting with the directors and COO to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.

• Take the lead in preparing government grant applications, liaising with colleagues for information and finessing draft texts.

• Maintain the grant database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.

• Maintain the grants calendar, ensuring you are aware of reporting deadlines and other priority needs well in advance and ensuring no deadlines are missed. The role will take a proactive lead and coordinate as required.

• Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders and ensure appropriate follow-up.

• Assist in crafting presentations to funders and, as required, work with the comms team to develop films or other materials.

This role will combine the ambition of The Foundation without losing the core importance of being a person-centred patient support group, offering kindness and support at challenging times.  You will bring excellent interpersonal skills, as well as financial acumen and an appetite for seeing the best possible service delivered to a wide demographic.

Location: Based in the Bristol office, with flexibility for hybrid working

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000

Reports to: Chair and Board of Trustees

Holiday: 30 days plus statutory bank holidays

The role

The Senior PR and Press Officer will raise the voice and impact of the CIPD in media and wider communications activities in pursuit of its core purpose of championing better work and working lives

What you’ll be doing

• Managing incoming media enquiries, ensuring journalists receive a prompt and efficient response and briefing spokespeople to help turn incoming enquiries into opportunities to proactively communicate key messages.
• Maximising media coverage to support the CIPD’s strategic priorities and our research, policy and campaign agenda. This will involve regularly translating policy matters and research findings into accessible news stories that will resonate with different stakeholder audiences.
• Being part of a wider team, which creates and delivers integrated marketing communications campaigns. You will have responsibility for managing the media element of certain campaigns.
• Building and maintaining relationships with trade media, national and broadcast journalists as part of our busy and respected press office. You will also work closely with the editorial team that manage our CIPD magazines: People Management and Work.
• Working with the PR Manager, Head of Marketing Communications, and wider team to protect and enhance the reputation of the CIPD.
• Supporting communications colleagues in our regional and international offices.
• Ensuring that the CIPD’s online media centre is an up-to-date resource for the media, CIPD members and other visitors to the website, and that press releases are distributed in a timely way.
• Proactively placing and writing articles for a variety of media and ensuring all articles from CIPD spokespeople are consistent with the CIPD’s key messages.
• Being part of the team that plan and run the on-site press offices for our annual conferences.
• Building strong working relationships with third party stakeholders, including commercial and strategic partners.

What you’ll need to be successful

• An excellent writer and communicator, able to create compelling copy for a range of audiences and channels.
• Extensive experience and knowledge in media relations.
• Strong awareness of media with good contacts in the national media.
• Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, juggling competing deadlines and shifting priorities at short notice.
• Ability to provide consultancy to the rest of the organisation, including the senior management team.
• A real team player, able to build relationships with teams across the business.
• Able to represent the organisation when working with media and other stakeholders.
• Has a good understanding of using social media channels to further our key messages and ensure that traditional and social media activities are aligned.
