The Role
Month-end tasks
Process supplier invoices and staff expenses and prepare weekly payment runs in Sage 50 Accounts software.
Send remittance advice to suppliers.
Import staff expenses transactions from Expense's into Sage and reconcile staff accounts to Purchase Ledger in Sage.
Reconcile supplier records within the Purchase Ledger ensuring it is accurate and up to date.
Working with the Database & Insights Officer, post monthly bank receipts and income journals to Sage 50.
Monthly reconciliation of bank, Stripe and PayPal accounts to bank statements.
Reconcile credit card statements monthly.
Prepare and post monthly prepayment journals to Sage.
Prepare monthly reconciliations of income in Sage against Fundraising figures, explaining any variances.
Prepare monthly cashflow statements for review by the Head of Finance.
Reporting
Support the Development team with Donor reporting.
Prepare monthly budget vs actual reports for project teams.
Produce Sage expenditure reports for the Development and Program teams upon request.
General
Monitor the Accounts Payable mailbox responding to emails and requests in a timely manner.
Support the HoF and Development team with any other ad hoc tasks as required.

Bladder Health UK (BHUK) is a small national charity that has developed significantly over the last 10 years. We are now looking for a part-time charity manager who can continue this journey. Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

1. Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
2. Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.

Thrive at Five, a national early years charity are looking for a dynamic early years professional (would suit an experienced EYFS teacher) to work in our pathfinder project area as a Peripatetic Support Leader. The role involves supporting a number of workstreams designed to support professionals, parents and educational settings working with children aged 3 to 5.

This role is key to the successful role out of Thrive at Five’s model, particularly as it applies to children of nursery and school age. The role is about collaborating with a small value-based team operating in Bentilee and Abbey Hulton in Stoke on Trent, and about fostering collaboration between a wide group of stakeholders in the two ward areas and across Stoke more widely. We are not a delivery organization but seek to support a wide variety of stakeholders operating in the early years to work together, and with parents and carers, to support children’s good development. We co-develop sustainable solutions which are delivered and owned by local stakeholders.

Crucial to the success of the project is using your own knowledge and skills, leveraging local and national expertise to support the development of high-quality practice across the early year’s settings and places where parents with children under five attend.

The role will include the co-development with local stakeholders and the delivery, by them, of projects to improve early language and communication and to enrich the home learning environment. The role involves working closely with the Deputy Partnership and Programme Lead (DPPL), the Early Years Lead (0-2) and other Thrive leaders, assisting them to ensure the delivery of high-quality parent, baby and toddler groups including the provision of in the development of high quality, evidence informed home learning materials. The evidence is clear that high quality early years education plays a positive role in raising attainment and closing the gap between outcomes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and other children. This post is about making this happen in the areas where Thrive at Five work and supporting our partners to achieve this.

Stoke-on-Trent is the first place where Thrive at Five has a programme. The learning from Stoke and other places we work will inform the development of a Thrive at Five model, to be replicated and scaled nationally. This role comes with an expectation of close collaboration with our external learning partner, external evaluation partner, the national Thrive at Five team and teams across the UK, with a commitment to sharing learning and best practice all with a view to enabling more children to thrive and reach their full potential.

ROLE & DUTIES:

1. Act as the early year’s education and childcare learning and care subject matter expert for the programme. and ensure best practice is disseminated.

2. Act as the relationship manager with all early year’s settings in Bentilee and Abbey Hulton and build strong and trusting relationships through regular timetabled meetings with appropriate early years personnel, including childminders.

3. Act as the relationship manager with stakeholders in Stoke-on-Trent who are directly involved in the delivery or who support the delivery of high-quality education and childcare.

4. Take responsibility and accountability for of all 3–5-year-old focused workstreams co-designed to support better outcomes associated with 3- 5-year-old provision and services in line with Thrive at Five’s theory of change.

5. Work closely with Partnership and Programme Lead for Stoke, Deputy Partnership and Programme Lead and the national team to develop robust strategies for 3–5-year-olds (as these evolve from time to time, and as currently defined in point 4).

6. Work with the DPPL on implementation plans for and manage the implementation of the strategies for:

· Improved early language and communications (NELI, Talking Time) including peripatetic support where required and be the link for NELI and Talking Time Workstreams

· Work with others for the smooth transition into nursery and school Ready Steady Stoke.

· Improved home learning environment through evidence-informed parent engagement in nurseries and schools e.g., PEEP

7. Act as the link with all early year’s settings in Bentilee and Abbey Hulton through timetabled meetings with appropriate early years personnel, including childminders to strengthen local practice.

8. Build and sustain an (external) 3-5 Working Group – to ensure local stakeholders are empowered to participate fully in and take co-ownership of workstreams developed by Thrive at Five.

9. Ensure that the 3-5 Working Group includes representation from practitioners from non-school settings, and individuals from any other local voluntary, private and public sector organisations whose role has a direct bearing on the development and delivery of the 3-5 workstreams.

10.  Be a part of the dissemination of good practice.

11.  Undertake the line management of the Flexi Support staff recruited to provide capacity to early year school settings in the delivery of the Thrive at Five workstreams.

12.  The appropriate candidate will need to be able to work confidently with settings and appropriate partners to ensure the early years 3-5 in target wards are as effective possible.

13.   Collaborate with the learning and impact teams (internal and external) fundraising and wider national team and other Thrive at Five teams as required.

14.  Support settings in their endeavours to improve the number of children reaching GLD and for Thrive to achieve it primary goal.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A teaching qualification, preferably in Early Years is required for this post.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The role leads on the delivery of Bond’s corporate and CEO level events. This role is managed by the Head of Communications but also works with the corporate and marketing team, the Director of Membership and Communications and CEO. 

The primary focus of this role is to manage and deliver high-quality events for Bond’s corporate partners to help them reach their target audiences, and to deliver high level events for CEOs and senior leaders across our network to help provide senior leaders with the support and skills needed to provide effective and supportive leadership. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Corporate events:

• Manage and deliver a range of events to fulfil contractual commitments with corporate partners.
• Ensure the successful execution of events, including hybrid and face-to-face components, across various locations including potential European venues.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-quality events that meet partner expectations and contribute to revenue generation.

2) CEO engagement events:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive program of events targeting CEOs and senior leaders within our network.
• Coordinate logistics, including speaker liaison, venue sourcing, and event planning for CEO events throughout the year.
• Work closely with senior management to align events with organisational goals and strategies outlined in Bond’s membership strategy.

3) Special projects:

• Coordinate special one-off projects and events as required by members or donors, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

4) General

• Ensure the successful delivery of Bond corporate and CEO events both online and in person, where appropriate.
• Ensure events logistics, including working with any contractors and with any external booking systems are successfully delivered.
• Develop and maintain the Bond corporate and CEO events schedule and ensure that project timelines are adhered to.
• Liaise with speakers and ensure that speakers are successfully briefed
• Support all digital content of uploading and editing sessions and speakers on the Bond website.
• Liaise and work with external event platforms for any major events.
• Scope and research venues and platforms and tools for in-person, online and hybrid events.
• Assist in-person and hybrid event providing support as and when required.
• Working with the Marketing and Membership Manager and Business Development Adviser, ensure that all events communications are delivered in a timely manner and that delegate queries are answered.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The ideal candidate would:
• Have at least 2 years experience of events organisation and management in a similar or comparable setting

• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with sponsors, event partners and participants.

• Be able to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and manage relationships with Bond’s network of members. 

• Have a good understanding of how events can generate income

The position will be stationed in Lusaka, Zambia, with frequent travel to Field offices stationed in other districts in Zambia as well as periodic international travel.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Country Director, the Head of Programmes will provide strategic programme direction, managerial and programme leadership, and oversight on all aspects of strategy development, programme development and management in water, sanitation and hygiene including significant component of public health programmes and projects. S/he is responsible for strategic programme leadership of programmes, programme design, management, quality assurance and partner support. S/he will provide an oversight of the quality of the programmes that reflect adherence to global and WaterAid standards and donor guidelines, while fostering innovation to improve effectiveness and impact ensuring the delivery and overall success of WaterAid's Country Programme Strategy (2023-2028). The role enhances WaterAid's existing portfolio of programmes and partnerships, working closely with Policy and Advocacy and diverse expertise to design and showcase WaterAid's service delivery models, and innovation with the aim of influencing for wider and transformational change in support of WaterAid's vision and strategy.

The Head of Programmes is a member of the Senior Management Team. S/he will have a strong professional relationship with the Regional Programme Manager, based in the Regional Team to ensure that global standards on programme quality, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and assurance are applied in country programme. At the Country Programme level, the Head of Programmes will have a strong professional relationship with the Head of Advocacy and Policy, Head of Funding, Head of Finance and Senior Programme staff.

Specifically, the Head of Programmes, will be responsible for the following amongst others:

• Provide strategic programme direction for the design of the Country Programme strategic frameworks and plans, including the development of resource mobilization strategies to optimize the impact of programme interventions in line with the Country Strategy and WaterAid's regional and global strategic priorities.
• Collaborate closely with the health sector to empower them to prioritise Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives and embed hygiene practices as fundamental pillars of public health.
• Lead the execution of WaterAid's programmatic approaches that include Systems Strengthening Approach, Gender transformative WASH, Hygiene Behavioural-Centred Approach and Design methodologies, and Human rights-based approach (HRBA) into all aspects of WASH programming and operations.
• Lead the development and execution of strategic plans for WASH programming, ensuring alignment with the organisation's goals and priorities.
• Integrate Climate Resilient WASH principles into project design and implementation strategies to enhance the resilience of WASH systems and infrastructure to climate change impacts approach into all aspects of our work.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity building support to staff and partners on systems strengthening principles, methodologies, and best practice.
• Lead high-quality project design incorporating project management standards and Programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) methods, appropriate to project scope, context, and technical needs. Coordinate activity planning across various projects from multiple sectors, promoting programme integration and optimising implementation efficiency.
• Lead on planning and management of programme budgets and timely delivery of programmes that comply with both internal and external standards and contract terms, while also ensuring they deliver the best contributions to our strategic outcomes and the expectations of our national/ local partners and communities.
• Supervise programme managers and budget holders to ensure donor compliance and timely programme implementation. Inform management of team progress and performance. Manage team dynamics effectively and prioritise staff welfare.
• Play a key role in shaping strategic direction, decision making processes, and corporate governance. Uphold the WaterAid brand, while addressing development issues specific to Zambia and other management related issues. Contribute to expertise and insights to ensure effective leadership and alignment with organisational goals and values.
• Create conducive learning conditions, ensuring a safe environment for sharing of ideas and problem solving. Promote accountability, learning and knowledge management overseeing implementation of the PMER policy and facilitate cross-sectoral and cross-department learning.
• Coordinate with Head of Finance and IT and Head of People & Organisational Development to ensure appropriate project budgeting and efficient use and stewardship of project material and resources.
• In coordination with Country Director and the Head of Funding oversee the business development cycle to ensure development and submission to donors of quality proposals as per donor requirements.
• Oversee the identification, assessment and strengthening of appropriate partnerships and the appropriate application of partnership concepts, tools, and approaches.
• Ensure technical assistance and capacity strengthening for project teams and partners in project management standards and related PMER, business development and operational activities. Identify training opportunities, develop training curriculums, and deliver trainings.
• Encourage and promote empowering and collaborative leadership, effective management, and a culture of openness, innovation, and accountability in line with WaterAid's values.
• Provide guidance and tailor individual development plans through coaching. Conduct performance assessments for direct reports to evaluate performance and provide feedback. Contribute to project staffing plans and senior recruitment processes.
• Represent WaterAid in meetings with NGOs, Government Ministries, donor representatives and diplomatic missions, and other external partners.
• As a key member of the Senior Management Team contribute proactively to Country Programme management and organisational effectiveness
• Ensure highest standards of accountability through ensuring good communication and information sharing in line with WaterAid policies and procedures within and outside the organisation.
• Be aware of, understand and comply with the WaterAid Code of Conduct, Safeguarding Policy and all WaterAid Zambia policies and procedures.

To be successful, you'll need:

• Minimum of master's degree in WASH, Public Health, Engineering, Water Resources Management, Environmental Sciences, development Studies or relevant discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressive managerial experience at senior levels, with strong relationship management skills. Ability to relate to people at all levels, both internally and externally.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in strengthening elements of WASH systems with an understanding of WASH interaction with other systems such as health, climate change, education, and economic development.
• Experience of project and programme management and programme cycle management, with significant financial and budget management responsibility
• Proven experience of leading, developing and implementing a WASH strategy.
• Strategic and operational planning experience, experience in developing country and programme strategies and multi-sectoral development programmes.
• Experience in Developing project / programme proposals for raising resources from institutional donors.
• Experience of managing and building high performing team.

Roots to Wellbeing project aims:

• Provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to receive weekly support.
• Help participants to connect with nature and socialise with others to feel happier, less anxious and less isolated.
• Support participants to access other beneficial services, where appropriate, including health, social and financial.
• Support participants to move onto outdoor work or volunteering with friends of groups where appropriate.
• Facilitate a positive journey through the service for participants to ensure as many people as possible can access the service.

The role 

The roles has four main areas of work:

1. Leadership and management:

• Lead the Roots to Wellbeing team to reach its goals. 
• Line manage and support three Mental Health Officers, each delivering Roots to Wellbeing on one site.
• Work with local communities and other team members to explore new opportunities for the project and develop solutions.
• Work with CEO and Head of Fundraising to secure funding for project development.

2. Project management: 

• Oversee the delivery and development of the project to meet key KPIs.
• Collate qualitative and quantitative data and produce impact reports for funders. 
• Support team to ensure administrative records are kept up to date, including but not limited to: maintaining accurate participant records, work programme, incident reporting, risk management, external outreach, website.
• Develop a thorough communications strategy and build on current local referral relationships to further embed the programme within the VCSE & Health sector.
• Ensure service standard and quality is consistent across sites and policies and procedures are followed. 
• Recruit and induct volunteers to support session delivery.
• Work in partnership with stakeholders within and across the organisation to deliver project goals.
• Attend networking meetings and community events to raise awareness of the project and demonstrate its impact. 

3. Session delivery at Hartcliffe Millennium Green: 

• Continually build and maintain relationships with local referral partners to achieve a consistent referral rate into the project. 
• Deliver weekly Roots to Wellbeing sessions by; planning and facilitating delivery of sessions and activities in line with 5 pathways to nature connectedness and that are accessible to all participants, organising logistics of sessions such as travel, food and equipment, acting as safeguarding lead during sessions, liaising with co-facilitator, leading peer-support style check in at the beginning of the sessions and the grounding and meditation at the end.
• Lead on all direct communication with participants at Hartcliffe Millennium Green. Support them to create personalised development plans, signposting and referrals where needed. 

4. Other: 

• Support the work of the wider charity and specifically the South Bristol team as required. 
• Representing the charity externally through media work and presentation where necessary.

About the Role:
As our Senior Advocacy Advisor on International Financial Institutions you will increase and strengthen our advocacy and capacity to influence global development finance institutions, particularly the World Bank but also be informed on major developments in other IFIs, e.g. recent Paris Summit and Global Financing Pact. We want to ensure our engagement is systematic, impactful and builds up an increased evidence base for influence on the institution.

In this role, you will will employ a range of strategies to advocate for changes in the policies, standards and practices of the World Bank particularly as it relates to water sanitation and hygiene particularly in the context of the twin climate change and global health crises. This position will include a focus on the World Bank Group's Water Global Practice and the Global Water Security and Sanitation Partnership, as well as also support WaterAid Country Programme teams and partners to influence the World Bank's operations at the country level. 

You'll also: 

• Develop and implement advocacy strategies designed to influence the policies of the World Bank and other relevant IFIs on water sanitation & hygiene in line with WaterAid's globally agreed policy and campaign priorities, and in coordination with allies.
• Build a network of contacts and relationships, including relevant IFI/ World Bank staff and Executive Directors, gather information, and advocate with the Board and staff of the World Bank on particular country operations and key policy areas
• Build technical knowledge and understanding of the Bank's policies and practices in relation to the WASH sector, including the activities of the International Development Association (IDA) and how these relate to countries in which WaterAid has CPs
• Keep abreast of complex and fast changing political debates and monitor emerging trends internationally, across the Bank's key donor governments to inform WaterAid's political positioning, ensuring the organisation's advocacy is responsive and relevant;Actively participate in and contribute to the political influencing and campaign strategies for the Global Advocacy Priority campaigns on WASH & climate and on WASH & women's health.
• Engaging with the networks and coalitions for relevant IFI advocacy.

About You:

Westway Trust is seeking a qualified accountant to join as our Head of Finance who will lead on all aspects of the finance function to achieve the Trusts goals.  You will also manage a small team and will offer strategic finance support across the range of activities undertaken by the organisation.

You will have significant experience operating at a senior level within a complex organisation and registered charity, and will possess the right blend and balance of strategic, communication, innovation and people skills.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Lead, manage and improve the Trust’s finance function and provide accurate, timely and relevant financial reports as required by the CEO, Executive Team and the Trust Board.
• Be the Executive Lead of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee, ensuring timely papers to the CEO and to the Committee and Board as required and liaising with the Head of Governance and HR as required.
• Ensure the provision and reporting of financial accounts, forecasting and large-scale project/programme budgets, estate development plans, and the associated reporting.
• Oversight of the legal and financial statutory processes in line with the Charity Commission and Companies House requirements, including the Annual Audit. Allocating tasks for timely responses and keeping all colleagues abreast of progress.
• Monitor, cash flow, reserves, analysis of performance against the organisation’s annual business plan and dashboard as it relates to the finance function.
• Contribute to the overall leadership of the Trust and to the Trust’s future strategic and operational planning. Support Executive Team colleagues as required on the delivery of cross-team initiatives.
• Line management of the Senior Finance Manager, the Debt Recovery Consultant and the Development Partnerships Lead.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• Significant and successful experience of operating as a Head of Finance, ideally in a charity setting.
• A track record of working collaboratively with a team to develop successful internal partnerships and achieve joint success against shared objectives.
• Experience of the finance function and all the associated processes, with strong attention to detail.
• Experience of implementing enhanced reporting tools within financial software, including the ability to coach others.
• Practical knowledge of VAT, including accounting of partial exemption relevant to charities.
• Experience of managing staff and supporting their development.
• Strong interpersonal skills for both workplace and external representation contexts, operating with enthusiasm, flexibility, energy and commitment and demonstrating credibility and gravitas.

Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes:

• A good understanding of the local area.
• Experience of change management.
• Competency in use of Access Dimensions, Focal Point and other MS Office software packages.

Qualification:

• Must hold a formally recognised professional accounting qualification.
