Hours: 25 hours per week – evening and weekend work with daytime shifts.

Overall Purpose

• To provide support and care to the young people who are newly arrived in the country, providing the foundations for them to rebuild their lives with dignity, strengthen their resilience and inspire hope for their futures.
• To partner with social workers and representatives from other agencies, for the benefit of the young people.

This work is essential in enabling us to deliver our therapeutic support for all areas of a young person’s life.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To be a Support Worker for newly arrived young people who are in the care of Baca in all areas of the young person’s life, supporting them from first arrival through to their move to semi-independence.
• To welcome new arrivals into the accommodation and communicate basic information about the house, making them feel safe and able to rest; with compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• To enable young people to achieve the following outcomes increased physical wellbeing, increased emotional wellbeing, improved personal safety, increased social engagement and increased engagement with education, employment and training.
• To enable young people to live with positive values and good boundaries.
• To be a proactive role model for the young people, enabling them to learn day to day living skills and helping them integrate positively with the local community.
• Training young people in living skills such as washing, cleaning, cooking and safety, food shopping and budgeting; proactively and intentionally in line with the Baca independent living preparation plan.
• Helping young people settle into a routine which will include education and social activities.
• Work in close partnership with social workers and other professionals and volunteers to provide a holistic development package for each young person enabling them to become independent.
• Maintaining very good communication with relevant members of the Rebuild Team and relevant social workers through regular appropriate reporting.
• To work collaboratively with the rest of the Rebuild Team to ensure all young people are safeguarded and supported to rebuild their lives.
• Complete and update all admin work as part of the role such as month end reports and support plans on time and in a consistent manner.
• Playing an active role in developing knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to the role and especially in the areas of asylum and refugee law, trafficking, supporting separated children and the cultures of different nations relevant to Baca.

Personal Specification

Baca is looking for a Support Worker who is passionate about seeing young refugees achieving their potential and rebuilding their lives for a better future. The successful applicant will have a personal style that is in line with Baca’s vision and values. They will live in the new arrival house and make it their home. They will be a good self-starter and have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire our young people to be the best they can be. 

The successful applicant will be motivated and passionate about the work that Baca does and the young people in our care. They will be very approachable, enjoy working as part of a wider team but also able to manage their own time and workload. Someone who is supportive, responsible, reliable, personable and willing to set boundaries in line with Baca’s values.

This is a frontline role that will need the successful applicant to be working closely with young people in their houses and will need access to transport young people to different appointments, meetings and activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.  

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

You should be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and empower others. This is a full-time role.

About the role:

This role is based at Accrington. This role involves regular travel and due to the location, a driving license and access to a vehicle is considered an essential requirement. As a MARRAC Coordinator you will:

• Work with the MARRAC Team Leader and partner agencies to contribute/support the initial assessment process
• Check internal systems to check if victims are known or open to internal services
• Provide any updates; follow up calls including immediate safety & support needs for the victims
• Attend MARRAC meetings to present the voice of the victim
• Contribute towards interventions, helping to design a multi agency safety plan to protect victims
• Complete actions & signpost to other agencies /community groups
• Contribute to review discussions on closure to MARRAC
• Maintain accurate & confidential case management records

You will need:

• experience of working with high risk victims of domestic abuse & ideally hold an IDVA accreditation
• comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse & the impact on victims
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning & risk management
• an understand Safeguarding, & the legal responsibilities around these
• theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies
• experience of partnership working
• good organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively
• strong crisis management skills, able to deal with difficult situations
• good communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal
• IT skills, able to use Microsoft Office & Case Management systems

You will responsible for offering a range of face to face and telephone mental health advice and information to people living in the city, including carers and family members who have contacted us with a mental health concern. The service also delivers awareness raising wellbeing workshops and community outreach as part of its delivery.

The role involves supporting people to identify strategies for looking after their own mental health wellbeing along with providing self-help information and resources.

You will require excellent communication skills, a track record of undertaking advice work and experience of successfully engaging and working with people with lived mental health experience. A commitment and understanding of the recovery model is essential.

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced monitoring, evaluation, analysis, and learning professional with strong understanding and experience of advocacy within an NGO/INGO. You will play a key role in ensuring advocacy in Sightsavers is monitored effectively, and input on Sightsavers strategic data analysis. Building on Sightsavers existing advocacy data systems, you will ensure effective data collection, visualisation and analysis; ability to develop dashboards using PowerBI would be of particular interest, although this is not essential. 

Key duties will include:

• Delivering systems for collecting, managing, and analysing information about national advocacy
• Lead on the coordination of Sightsavers’ Voluntary Stakeholder Review of SDG implementation
• Strengthening systems for sharing lessons about what works and identify challenges that are faced by multiple countries
• Engaging in internal Policy and Global Advocacy and organisational processes

Skills and Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Related Experience:

Essential

• Degree or higher in a Social Science, or equivalent working experience
• Experience of supporting national advocacy within a global advocacy strategy within INGO/NGOs
• Significant experience of monitoring, evaluation, and learning within an INGO context
• Experience working with data management information systems and applying data analysis/statistical techniques to data
• Knowledge of current issues and best practice in development particularly in advocacy monitoring and evaluation
• Ability to influence organisational strategy and promote change internally
• Ability to develop and implement effective advocacy plans and MEL systems
• Effective communication and relationship building skills with internal and external audiences

Desirable

• Experience of advocacy is essential for this role. Advocacy within human rights, and/or advocacy at an international level, would be desirable, although not essential.
• Ability to develop and manage data visualisation, notably creating Dashboards in PowerBI
• Expertise in building staff capacities to develop and deliver effective advocacy monitoring strategies
• Experience of working effectively as part of an international team

We are currently in search of a friendly, dynamic, and proactive individual to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for engaging with and providing support to women who have been issued a conditional caution and are directed to participate in Hampton Trust diversionary workshops.

Job Title:                           Women’s Service Practitioner

Working Hours:                22.5 Hours per week across 3 days

Salary:                               Band 6 – £14,976.00 – £16,817.40 pro-rata per annum

                                        (Based on a full time salary range of £24,960 – £28,029 per annum)

                                          (All new recruits enter at the lower end of the salary band)

Contract:                          Fixed term until 31st March 2025 (Extensions subject to funding)

• proactively engage and communicate effectively with individuals from all backgrounds.
• have an ability to work effectively within multiagency settings.
• have knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
