We are looking for an organised and creative individual to join our service supporting Unpaid Carers in Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers and you will carry out home visits and community meetings, complete assessments, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals. You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities.

To facilitate group work, you will plan and deliver a programme of events, groups, activities, training and workshops. You’ll need to research and book trainers, venues, activities and resources, negotiate value for money, promote the calendar of events and manage bookings. The sessions will offer opportunities for Unpaid Carers to meet with peers, develop confidence, learn new skills, reduce social isolation, and improve their own wellbeing.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector, as well as experience of planning and delivering a programme of group work.

You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. You should be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and empower others.

This is a full-time role. Driver and own car essential.

The recruitment process

We aim to do this through the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. Impact monitoring plays a key role in conservation management — to ensure effective delivery of projects — and is something that donors are increasingly interested in seeing. This internship will provide an opportunity for someone at the start of their conservation career to gain experience in the design, development and implementation of robust project Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) processes, developing skills in data handling and management essential for assessing impact of project activities.

This internship will support current work to design and deliver MEL at the project level and across the Africa programme portfolio, by helping to support establishing systems and processes that enable the analysis and presentation of data gathered as part of Fauna & Flora’s work in Uganda.

As part of our work in Uganda, members of the community have been collecting data on chimpanzee sightings, threats and human-wildlife conflict. However, the systems and methods used to collect this data have changed over time, making comparing data between years and identifying conservation impact achieved challenging. This inconsistency in data management is a challenge faced across Fauna & Flora that we are seeking to address.

During this internship, you will work with the Uganda team, who have been working alongside partners to conserve chimpanzees in a human-dominated landscape since 2014, and the Conservation Design & Impact (CDI) team, who aim to support and increase biodiversity conservation impact across Fauna & Flora’s global portfolio and the communities and partners with whom we work. Working with both teams, you will help ensure that community-gathered chimpanzee datasets are utilised to their full potential to maximise impact of the project. You will focus on cleaning, analysing and presenting existing data, as well as ensuring that future data collection systems allow for updated analysis to be conducted quickly and easily. You will work closely with the Uganda Team to ensure that anything developed fits their current and future needs but learnings from your work will also be applied to other Fauna & Flora projects.

You will learn about the importance of impact monitoring to conservation projects, as well as specific technical skills in data analysis and presentation, in particular, geographic information system (GIS) skills. You will learn about chimpanzee conservation, particularly the issues facing the species in a subsistence farming-dominated landscape. Finally, you will learn how a busy international NGO works, and have the opportunity to build networks in the sector.

Note that this internship has been designed to create a professional development opportunity for people who are new to the conservation sector. Therefore, applicants should have less than two years paid or unpaid experience in the conservation sector (not including academic work).

On-farm biodiversity is key for providing ecosystem services within farmlands, as well as contributing to the resilience of biodiversity within the wider landscape. There is a growing body of research on how certain farmland management practices can support more on-farm biodiversity, and the beneficial impacts that this can provide to farmers (e.g., pollination). However, findings can vary greatly across studies, making it difficult to identify which agricultural practices can effectively increase biodiversity on farms. During this internship you will review the current knowledge, engage with in-country teams to capture their experiences, and develop management recommendations to help farmers to adopt practices which support more biodiversity on their farms, and so contributing to more ecologically resilient and biodiverse landscapes.

This internship will help you strengthen your skills in information synthesis and critical thinking, where you will work closely with agriculture-focused colleagues to develop guidance on what to consider when designing interventions for improving on-farm biodiversity. You’ll learn about the practicalities of implementing conservation projects in the field by interacting with agriculture staff from in-country teams and develop communication skills by engaging in meetings and developing and disseminating your findings (e.g. by developing recommendations, presenting results).

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to collaborate and work within the wider People & Nature team, by attending monthly meetings and discussions. Working within an international conservation organisation, you will learn from ongoing projects across the globe, to gain experience in biodiversity conservation within agricultural landscapes.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about on-farm biodiversity and biodiversity-friendly agricultural approaches and has a strong interest in learning and knowledge exchange. You must be a team player, with the ability to develop and work on your own initiative and have strong interpersonal skills and consideration for working with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Note that this internship has been designed to create a professional development opportunity for people who are new to the conservation sector. Therefore, applicants should have less than two years’ paid or unpaid experience in the conservation sector (not including academic work).

Aquarius helps young people aged 5-18 overcome the harm caused by drugs and alcohol by working closely with the individual, family members and other professionals.  But it’s only possible with people like you.

Right now, our Bedfordshire Young People’s service is looking for a Complex Needs Practitioner to join the team. This role will be in partnership with Bedfordshire Youth Offending Service and will require some co-location from the Youth Offending Offices around Bedfordshire to be an integral part of both teams.

Your challenge? To provide information and advice, brief interventions and long term structured support to young people who are using drugs and alcohol or being impacted by someone else’s use.  You will be conducting assessments, risk assessments, care-planning and working directly with other services such as schools, social care, health provisions, alternative education providers and mental health services.The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work with other agencies both face to face, email and via telephone.

An energetic and confident self-starter, you will be required to hold a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality, excellent record keeping and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

As this role requires extensive travel around Bedfordshire, you will need to have a clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.

This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post-holder to work 37 hours per week.

Purpose of Role: 

Working closely with the Management team, the Business Support Admin is a key role within Edinburgh Food Project.  As a small charitable organisation we need an experienced individual to develop and maintain robust administrative and office systems, to ensure the smooth operation of the organisation. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

General Administration 

• Ensure an effective and friendly reception service, including for in person visitors, email and telephone enquiries. 

• Ensure the smooth running of the office so that all services are operating optimally (IT, broadband, telephone, other utilities) and that supplies like stationery are kept replenished. 

• Providing management team support – for example, managing diaries, booking travel, booking key event and minute staff meetings

• Provide sickness and annual leave cover for our Money Advice Service Support Officers 

• Ensure parcels and mail received, are handled in an efficient and timely manner. 

• Ensure the office is kept tidy, organised and welcoming 

Financial Administration 

Provide support to the Finance Lead: 

• Complete general finance admin tasks in an effective and timely manner including, downloading, collating, and filing electronic and paper invoices and bank statements 

• Ensure regular reconciliations of petty cash and donations ensuring cash is counted in an accurate and timely way 

• Set up bank payments for authorisation ensuring accuracy 

HR Administration 

Provide support to the management team: 

• Lead the administrative induction/leaver process for all staff including liaising with IT provider, pension provider, staff benefit providers, and line managers 

• Support the recruitment process for new staff including advertisement of jobs, collating applicant details, issuing interview invitations, and compiling recruitment packs. 

• Ensuring staff training is up to date including booking courses, updating records, and filing certificates

• Support the recruitment of volunteers including checking references, sending welcome emails, and allocating training 

• Ensuring policies and procedures are issues promptly and updated on various systems 

• Ensuring staff timesheets, annual leave, and sick days are processed in accordance with EFP’s policies and procedures 

At Qube we are working in partnership to make a difference in Shropshire by providing volunteer brokerage and governance support to voluntary groups and organisations.

The role of the Volunteer and Infrastructure Officer is to support the Volunteer and Infrastructure Team Lead within the Voluntary and Community Support team providing high quality information, support and expertise in infrastructure support opportunities available to groups and organisations within Shropshire.

They will promote volunteering and encourage new volunteers to come forward for the benefit of Shropshire groups, organisations and communities. Provide governance advice, support, and guidance to local community/charitable groups and organisations, including support to staff/volunteer managers on volunteer recruitment and retention and develop working relationships with community led/based local groups to support future growth and sustainability.

They will also offer and make aware training opportunities and provision to support group and organisational compliance and safety.

This is currently a fixed term position until 31st March 2025 with extension possible dependent on further funding.
