If so, St Giles has an exciting opportunity for a Young Adults Caseworker to join our dynamic team and work on a vital project which offers support to young adults aged 18-25 who come into contact, or are at risk of coming into contact, with the criminal justice system to make positive changes to their lives and reduce the likelihood of offending and/or reoffending.

About this exciting opportunity

As Young Adults Caseworker, you will focus on promoting the project and engaging with your clients in line with the project’s targets and providing a client-led support service and advocacy that responds to each individual’s needs and achieves project outcomes. You will also deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, that will include practical help such as mentoring, social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, DIY work and cleaning.

You will support clients to develop individual action plans and regularly review these plans with your clients to assess progress, plus produce risk management plans based on assessments.  We will also count on you to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, including community-based services such as Police, YOT, Probation, children’s services and local authorities, as well as ensuring you close cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for young people that can be used for ongoing support.

What we are looking for

• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team, working together to achieve positive outcomes for young adults and establishing links to further the aims of a project.
• Experience of using support plans to enable people to successfully access support services.
• Proven record of engaging successfully with ‘challenging’ young adults.
• Experience of assessing risk and implementing safety procedures when thinking about young adults involved in or at risk of violence or exploitation.
• A working knowledge of relevant services for young adults in and around Gwent.
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

As Mentor/Facilitator, your focus will be to oversee the delivery of a vital Mentor Programme to targeted at risk students and young people up the age of 25 years and to establish and maintain positive relationships with each young person to provide emotional support, guidance and mentorship.  You will be expected to address each individual’s needs and challenges, utilising personal experiences, local knowledge, professional skills and St Giles’ materials to offer support and intervention, while also assisting each young person with setting and achieving academic, personal, and career goals.

We will count on you to collaborate with professionals to support and develop strategies to minimise the risk to young people and to maintain a trauma informed approach, that recognises and responds to trauma and amplifies the voices and experiences of individuals.  Developing positive, pro-social attitudes, behaviour and social skills among those you mentor and supporting and/or co-delivering whole school awareness and professional sessions are also key aspects of the role.

Ruils is a user-led charity that supports disabled adults and people with long-term health and/or mental health conditions to live independently, be part of their community and live life to the full. We provide information, advice, practical support, befriending and accessible activities to our clients and families.

The Community Health and Wellbeing Worker will speak to households about health and wellbeing, alongside offering support to connect people to services and activities in their local community. Our client’s homeless service provides support to adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across two locations, each are tailored to meet the needs of the clients.   

They have an opportunity for an Assistant Support Worker to join their friendly team. You will love helping others and enjoy supporting individuals to achieve their goals and to become more independent. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.  

Some of your duties will include: 

• Supporting clients by prompting and helping them to attend appointments

• Encouraging their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering.

• Helping them develop their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking and housework, laundry, health and hygiene

• Working with external partners (such as colleges) to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community.

About this key role
As our Accommodation Adviser, you will complete an Initial Needs Assessment (INA) with each service user using a strength-based approached within agreed contractual timeframes, before assessing need and risk, alert to changes that could indicate change in risk or serious harm, including personal safety and safeguarding. 

You will contribute to the design and delivery of an effective and solution-focused accommodation plan and advise and support service users to achieve successful outcomes utilising your specialist housing knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of accommodation and local service provision. You will also be expected to maintain and build new relationships with social and private housing providers and within the criminal justice sector, voluntary and statutory agencies. Monitoring progress and recording on digital systems is also a key duty.

Thames Reach’s Outreach teams operate across London and helps those who are rough sleeping to find routes away from the street. The teams respond to referrals and work flexibly to reach London’s most vulnerable.
