The role

The research communications and engagement team at Breast Cancer Now makes breast cancer research accessible and engaging to everyone. Its aim is to highlight the value and impact of research and build continued trust and support for the charity.

You'll use your science communication expertise to bring our research to life. You’ll create content covering Breast Cancer Now’s research aims, progress, and achievements for a variety of channels including our social media, website, fundraising and print publications. You’ll work with members of the brand, marketing and communications teams, and digital teams to make sure research content is engaging and drives brand awareness and support.

Primary location of role and hybrid working

This role is primarily based in our Cardiff/Glasgow/London/Sheffield office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.

We are looking for a Legacy and In Memory Lead for an incredible hospice, to be responsible for managing the implementation of the legacy (gifts in Wills) and in memory strategies and developing annual delivery plans.

The Role

About the role

A new and exciting opportunity to work with us across the England North region supporting our Liveable Cities and Towns and Paths for Everyone programmes, to encourage walking, wheeling and cycling to new and different users.

About Pancreatic Cancer Action:

Pancreatic Cancer Action (PCA) was founded in 2010 by a rare survivor of the disease. We are a small, creative and passionate team committed to improving early diagnosis and saving lives. In August 2020, Pancreatic Cancer Action merged with Pancreatic Cancer Scotland making our team stronger than ever. 

Pancreatic cancer has only a 7% survival rate and this figure has not improved significantly for over 50 years. Despite it being the 5th biggest cancer killer in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives only 3% of overall research funding. 

With a strong focus on early diagnosis, it is Pancreatic Cancer Action’s aim to improve survival rates through raising awareness, medical education, improved patient information and by funding research specifically into the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Simply put, we want more people diagnosed in time for surgery, currently the only potential for a cure.

Main responsibilities:  

• Develop and grow the annual programme of fundraising events such as the London Marathon and Great North Run.
• Grow and steward a pipeline of new and existing community and events audiences and fundraising opportunities with a particular focus on England. Ensuring to always maintain the highest quality supporter journey.
• Manage the delivery of the virtual challenge events. Add insight and support the annual Pancreatic Awareness Month Campaign and help to further develop Pyjama’s for Pan Can to new audiences.
• As a senior member of the Income Generation Team you will contribute to robust financial planning, management and reporting of income and expenditure in your own areas of expertise.
• Responsible for the delivery and recruitment into PCA’s Challenge Events programme making sure participants receive exceptional supporter care.
• Develop compelling and engaging third party fundraising materials to inspire supporters to reach their maximum fundraising targets.
• Contribute to the development of automated and integrated supporter journey and engagement plans with the support of the Head of Income Generation to ensure a consistent and efficient supporter experience.
• Seek out engagement opportunities to support donor acquisition and retention utilising new and existing channels and platforms.
• You will be an excellent relationship manager who can maintain accurate records on our CRM system (Salesforce) to ensure that we develop, engage and update our supporters.
• Work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Communications, to create engaging products and community and event campaigns. Updating the fundraising section of the PCA website and other third party platforms with compelling content and seamless user journeys.
• Be competent at data inputting, IT literate and very organised. Empathy and excellent communication skills are vital in this role and the candidate must be able to collaborate and work well as part of a team.
• Attending when necessary, external events, conferences and exhibitions across the UK and being the face of Pancreatic Cancer Action, acknowledging that some of these may involve overnight stays and weekends.

Income and targets

• Help to grow Pancreatic Cancer Action’s income from community and challenge event fundraisers.
• Develop ongoing stewardship journey for Community/DIY Fundraisers and increase average gift though exceptional supporter care.
• Achieve Financial and non-financial targets and KPI’s from corporate and community fundraising as agreed with the Head of Income Generation.
• Monitor and control allocated fundraising budgets and regularly update the Head of Income Generation.
• Prepare and monitor reporting for all online fundraising platforms to fit with our accounting systems reporting this to the Head of Income Generation monthly.
• Contribute to Pancreatic Cancer Action’s fundraising strategy.

The role raises unrestricted income from individuals by planning and executing the day-to-day campaigns to recruit, engage and retain supporters.

Key responsibilities will include;

• Creating, planning, delivering and evaluating multi-channel, insight-led, supporter-centric campaigns. This will include both acquisition and retention campaigns.
• Managing production of supporter material, including email acquisition & retention campaigns, social media posts, website content, print advertising, direct mail and inserts.
• Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and liaise with external agencies and suppliers to effectively deliver projects and campaigns.
• Working with colleagues to identify individual stories that can be crafted into impactful content for use in contribution marketing campaigns.
• Innovation - Manage a continuous cycle of testing new channels and developing acquisition and retention for individual giving, based on audience insight and sector trends.

The successful candidate will have experience of; 

• income generation from direct marketing campaigns (acquisition and/or retention) across a variety of offline and digital channels
• effective campaign copy writing
• project management to deliver acquisition or retention campaigns
• using databases for targeting, segmentation, testing and response analysis and how to apply these learnings to future campaigns
• managing and monitoring external suppliers and agencies

This position can be either a hybrid role if commutable to the North London Head Office OR remote for candidates based across the UK who want to work from home.

Community Fundraiser
Location: HEMS Way, Lincoln, LN4 2GW - We currently operate a Hybrid Working system of a minimum of 3 days in the officer and 2 days at home. 
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £24,000 - £29,000 per annum

Reporting to: Community Fundraising Manager 

The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) provides lifesaving critical care to the communities of Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire, funded by public donations. If somebody is involved in a serious incident or suddenly taken ill, speed and time are of the essence. Giving a patient the best chance of survival, our Air Ambulance crew effectively take the A&E department to the scene of the emergency.

About the Role

Due to an internal promotion this a great opportunity to join our fundraising team.

This includes to:-

• Motivate and facilitate our wonderful supporters to maximise the funds they raise.
• Inspire new supporters to raise money, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters always ensuring they receive the best possible supporter experience.
• Maximise the ethical and sustainable generation of funds for the Charity through proactively developing community fundraising across Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire in line with the current strategy.
• Work as a part of the wider Fundraising team, contribute to our shared team goals and income targets.
