We facilitate corporate and other investments from over 60 organisations into our community, education and employment programmes.
With over 35 years of experience enabling successful partnerships between businesses and communities, ELBA engages over 15,000 corporate employees in volunteer programmes that support employment, education and community initiatives. In 2023 the Community Works programme supported 126 charities and social enterprises through engaging employee volunteers in practical and skills-based volunteering opportunities.
Purpose of the job
To be responsible for the successful delivery of ELBA’s Dragon Award Nominated Evolve Project, delivering exciting, innovative employer-supported volunteering projects that meet the expectations of specific corporate supporters, and the needs of the community with a key geographical focus in Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Haringey.
About Evolve
The Evolve Project is a collaborative partnership between Linklaters, UBS, Societe Generale and the Societe Generale UK Foundation, delivered by ELBA. Overall, the Evolve project aims to address the wider barriers and challenges faced in society & by community organisations & charities with a particular focus on Hackney and its surrounding boroughs of Tower Hamlets & Haringey. The project does this through supporting community organisations who are addressing different barriers like post Covid recovery, and the cost-of-living crisis, alongside continuing challenges of funding & sustainability.
Evolve aims to build the capacity of thee organisations, especially supporting the leadership, so they can keep up with the increased demand they are experiencing. Evolve has been designed to dynamically respond to the changing needs of local community organisations, drawing on the time, skills and expertise of employee volunteers to address the most pressing community challenges. The project is currently in its fourth year with funding secured for the following two years.
The role requires an ability to build a close and collaborative relationship across the community sector, particularly in Hackney, as well as with the corporate funders. A key focus is developing and delivering a range of exciting employee volunteering activities (including the Leaders in Partnership and Emerging Leaders coaching programmes) as well as leading monthly delivery and quarterly steering group meetings with the three business partners to ensure volunteer engagement and session development is meeting the aims and objectives of the project.
The post will be managed by the Head of Programme, Connect which sits within the Community Works programme at ELBA. The post holder will have weekly one-to-one meetings for input and guidance to achieve agreed targets and will be subject to annual performance appraisals.

Job Description
Key Evolve duties
● Responsible for day-to-day development and delivery of the Evolve project
● Collaborate closely with community partners, corporate partners and the ELBA team to understand community needs and design appropriate employee volunteering activities to address these needs
● Deliver a range of employee volunteering opportunities focused on capacity building for local community organisations within the geographical remit
● Build and maintain strong relationships with Evolve partners’ Corporate Responsibility teams by organising regular meetings and responding promptly to company requests
● Develop and promote a range of employee volunteering opportunities to corporate partners and manage delivery of volunteer requests
● Organise delivery of monthly delivery meetings and quarterly project steering group meetings including preparation of supporting documents and minute taking
● Achieve good delivery targets of employee volunteers engaged and beneficiaries supported
● Maintain strong impact reporting for the project and long-term tracking
Main duties
● Build effective working relationships with ELBA corporate partner organisations to understand their business and functions, culture and priorities, generate opportunities suitable for their employees, manage expectations and deliver on activities in support of programme and project goals and objectives
● Identify and build relationships with a range of community stakeholders, including charities, community groups, social enterprises and grassroots organisations
● Assess organisational needs and develop creative corporate volunteering opportunities to meet the needs and build the capacity of community stakeholders
● Source, place, train and manage cohorts of corporate volunteers in line with business plan and project targets
● Identify a range of corporate volunteering opportunities that can facilitate large-scale participation and/or collaboration for ELBA corporate partners
● Generate regular communication items such as an annual report, programme impact reports, articles, write awards nominations and case studies and maximise the use of social media platforms
● Work with the Community team to ensure programme materials are kept up to date
● Implement effective evaluation and impact measurement tools in line with ELBA corporate partner requirements, ensuring that evaluation informs best practices to ensure continuous improvement
General
● Adhere to ELBA’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
● Develop a broad knowledge of regeneration programmes and local authority priorities in east London and specific geographical area
● Support the wider Community team with the planning and delivery of key events
● Support Connect Head of Programme to align Evolve’s offering with the wider Connect programme
● Use ELBA internal systems to maintain records and report progress, including due diligence and volunteer recording via Salesforce within set timescales
● Ensure that effective project management systems for monitoring and evaluation are in place and keep detailed records
● Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required
● Proactively generate case studies, news articles, photos and social media content to promote the work of ELBA in line with ELBA communication targets and protocols
● Collaborate with other ELBA colleagues on projects where appropriate, and contribute to the development of ELBA as an organisation overall

Work Context:
The post holder will be highly motivated and organised to research, identify and build new and existing relationships with local businesses and community organisations in order to increase unrestricted income and engagement for the charity.
Sight for Surrey constantly needs to reassess its priorities in line with a changing funding environment and the needs identified by its members and service users. These factors are crucial to the charity’s survival and need careful attention. We are seeking a Fundraising Coordinator (Individual Giving) to join our small but dynamic Fundraising team.
The role requires excellent donor care and stewardship skills. All forms of communication will be required including the proactive use of digital channels such as the website and social media platforms.
The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. You will support donor acquisition as well as taking the lead on retention of our supporters across multiple channels including cash appeals, regular giving, lottery and in celebration giving. You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship programmes that drive retention by deepening audience understanding of the challenges that people affected by cleft face and the impact that their donations make. Be a point of contact for all challenge participants and community fundraisers.

Provide exceptional stewardship support and execute creative fundraising ideas to help participants reach their fullest potential.

Work with fundraising platforms to create automated workflows and streamlined user journey.

Lead the ‘Noise Makers’ to deliver Global’s staff income target by helping to implement a variety of exciting and lucrative fundraising activities in all Global’s offices across the UK

Be the dedicated point of contact with Global’s People & Culture (HR) team to deliver internal fundraising operations relating to Make Some Noise Day.

Work with the marketing team to design and deliver first-rate supporter care and resources for activities.

Ensure accurate records are maintained on our fundraising databases, and assist with account administration including invoices, payments, contracts, processes and reporting.

Write-up post-project reports and analysis, suggesting areas of improvement.

Manage budgets, looking for efficiencies and proactively spotting fundraising opportunities.

Oversee quarterly invoicing and stewardship of community recycling partners.
-
Support with stewardship of partners and high-value-supporters, such as co-ordinating gift-in-kind donations, volunteering opportunities and studio tours for VIP guests.

Identify, propose and develop fundraising opportunities within defined communities, such as schools and universities.

Provide colleagues with ad-hoc administrative support, such as responding to enquiries, minute-taking, invoicing, contracts and stocktakes, and support with prizes, event materials and marketing assets.
What you will need
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

Background: Experience of challenge events or community fundraising - ideally in a charity, media or client-focused environment.

Planning: You’ll be highly organised, with demonstrable experience of working under pressure, often to tight deadlines.

Community: You’ll be able to exercise empathy, patience and consistency when dealing with supporters.

Relationships & interpersonal skills: You’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport, relate to others and improve potential from relationships – over the phone, via email and face to face.

Attention to detail: An excellent level of literacy is crucial, along with an error-free ethic, double checking your work and eliminating mistakes and typos before sending on.

Systems: Ideally, you’ll have experience using online fundraising platforms (e.g. Just Giving and Enthuse) and will have a general understanding of how online ticketing and auction platforms work.

Writing: You’ll be confident in writing with a high standard of literacy and strong attention to detail.

Learning: You’ll have a desire for continuous learning of best fundraising practice.

Numeracy: Strong numeracy with experience of using formula in Excel; managing budgets, on the look-out to raise the maximum amount of money for the greatest return, and the sense to take action when figures don’t look right.

Proactivity: A proactive thinker, always looking to spot opportunities and using your initiative to spot issues before they occur.

Self Help Africa is an international development organisation that works through agriculture and Agri-enterprise development to end hunger and extreme poverty.
In 2021, Self Help Africa merged with United Purpose, doubling our size. The organisation works in 15 programme countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and its 2023 budget is in excess of €50m.

Job Purpose:
The Fundraising and Administration Officer role primarily focuses on providing excellent supporter care and administrative support within the fundraising department. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining supporter relations, optimising fundraising efforts, and ensuring efficient administrative processes are in place.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporter Care:
- To be a first point of contact for the Fundraising Department, answering the phone and meeting and greeting people who arrive to the office.
- Respond to enquiries from supporters, prospective supporters and volunteers via telephone, e-mail, and post, maintaining excellent supporter relations.
- Ensure timely and appropriate acknowledgments, using both standard and bespoke correspondence.
- To adhere to administrative procedures to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service which is compliant with all relevant legislation, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
- Provide admin support for Direct Mail letters and appeals, including the use of mail merge, when required.
- Assist with the ongoing stewardship of Regular Givers.
Community Fundraising:
- Co-ordinate the recruitment and appropriate use of volunteers to support fundraising.
- Develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, with the aim of maximising the funds they raise through challenges, events and talks.
- Support the formation of volunteer fundraising groups.
- Support ongoing and new events within the UK, which may include occasional weekend and evening work.
- Take the lead with the co-ordination and administration of public collections in the UK.
- Take the lead in monitoring fundraising merchandise, and liaise with suppliers, for fundraising materials, including Christmas Cards.
Digital Marketing:
- Support in developing UK digital fundraising opportunities.
- Administer digital acquisition campaigns in the UK e.g. through digital advertising, to generate new donors.
Database Management (Training will be provided):
- Create and maintain contact records on Salesforce, ensuring supporter information is kept up to date by recording changes to mailing preferences, gift aid eligibility and contact details etc.
- Database maintenance and housekeeping e.g. identifying and merging duplicate records, removing, or archiving redundant data, adhering to GDPR protocols.
Finance Administration (Training will be provided):
- Efficiently process and reconcile incoming donations, received daily by post, online and phone. Bank cheques and cash on a weekly basis, and process credit card and CAF donations.
- Record all donations to Salesforce, ensuring the accurate coding of income to the correct source and supporter.
- Administer new Direct Debit instructions.
- Support monthly and quarterly reports demonstrating fundraising income received against budget, to inform the management team and provide accurate forecasting.
- Scan and upload credit card statements and invoices for payment by the Finance team.
- Record and reconcile petty cash expenditure.
- Assist the Finance team in the reconciliation of all income received, responding to any queries.
General Office Administration:
- Order office stationery and fundraising supplies, as required.
- Co-ordinate general office maintenance, as required.
- Arrange accommodation for staff travel to Shrewsbury.

Knowledge, Experience and Other Requirements:
Essential
- Relevant qualifications from a Further Education Institution or equivalent office/administration experience in a busy environment, preferably in fundraising or marketing.
- Excellent planning, administrative, organisational and time management skills, to deliver and cope with a busy workload.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent keyboard and numeracy skills, with a high-level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, especially Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude; flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently.
- Commitment to Self Help Africa’s vision of an economically thriving and resilient rural Africa.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of marketing/relationship CRM databases, such as Salesforce.
- Experience of processing and managing data.
- Educated to degree level.
- Full driving licence and access to a car.
- First Aid Certificate.

About the Role
The ideal candidate will provide excellent administrative and operational support to the Philanthropy team, including specific well-written copy for fundraising collateral, engaging thank you letters, impactful cases for support.
Identify, generate, develop and grow a portfolio of major donors, contributing to an agreed income target.
Your role will be varied, responsible for supporting the Philanthropy team to generate, develop and grow income from a portfolio of major donors through positive and impactful relationships and excellent stewardship. You will be a team player, able to efficiently manage and prioritise your time.
