The Chief Officer’s role is demanding and extremely rewarding – ensuring the organisation evolves to meet current challenges and leading its efforts to secure resources and work with partners to provide an excellent advice service for our community in Folkestone and Hythe and the surrounding area.
The Chief Officer will ensure that Shepway Citizens Advice continues to deliver free, independent, impartial and confidential advice services that meet the needs of our local community.
The Chief Officer will be responsible for leading and managing a team of paid staff and volunteers. The successful candidate will have proven leadership and management experience. They will be well-versed in strategic development and planning, financial and operational management, income generation, external relationships, and people management.
The Chief Officer will promote and represent Shepway Citizens Advice by working actively and constructively with external partners and local agencies. They will need to maintain and develop our existing relationships with funders and identify new sources of funding and resources.

Over the last 10 years the ICAS Foundation has awarded over £2m in funding to support university students studying accountancy and finance. Each year we help around 100 students studying at universities across Scotland and England. The Head of Income and Engagement will work as part of a small team being the sole fundraiser for the ICAS Foundation alongside the current Foundation Director who has delivered key acquisitions in the last 12 months.
The key focus of the role will be to deliver income targets to meet the business plan and strategy 2030, including creating the fundraising strategy required to fulfil our growth aims. The role will manage a newly appointed Marketing and Communications Manager and have access to the Foundation Administrator. The role will promote our work in improving social mobility by awarding bursaries and grants to young people who would benefit the most from the additional support ICAS Foundation can offer. As well as financial support, this also includes a mentoring scheme and support with internships and graduate roles.
The role will also offer the opportunity to work closely with the Foundation Director and support our engagement with charity supporters and members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS). The role will enjoy a variety of work in income generation and engagement of a membership body and firms within the accountancy profession.

Background Information
The Weir Link was established to replace what was a derelict laundry and community room with a new purpose-built building which opened on the Weir Estate in June 2010. The charity’s principal aim is to provide educational, training and social opportunities that ‘bring the community together’ from all areas and backgrounds across the streets and estates within the local area.
To date the building has been used as the base for a Children’s Centre, Nursery (currently operated by London Early Years Foundation (Leyf)), a Volunteer Project as well as a range of other Fun Days, coffee mornings, community meetings and social get togethers. In addition to the nursery, which occupies the largest rooms of the building, there are additionally two office spaces and a meeting room available for community use.
We currently run a range of weekly after-school activities, including a homework club, two stay-and-play sessions, an arts and crafts club and a Pilates class. We also facilitate other community activities, including yoga classes, ante-natal classes and local residents’ meetings.
Job Description
Key responsibilities
1. Ensure that all aspects of the management and operation of The Weir Link are carried out effectively and in keeping with the organisation’s mission, vision and values.
2. Manage the delivery of a high-quality programme of activities and events for the local community.
3. Manage current partnerships, both those organisations with long term rental agreements and those with whom we co-ordinate activities and services for the community.
4. Continue to develop and manage new partnerships in keeping with the aims and objectives of the business plan.
5. Line-manage the Facilities and Bookings Co-ordinator to ensure the building is well-maintained, safe and meets all statutory requirements.
6. Manage the co-ordination of website updates and social media posts in collaboration with our team members.
7. Work with the Trustees to implement the 3-5 year business plan, including a sustainable funding strategy.
8. Ensure an effective marketing strategy to continue to promote our activities and events to the local community.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of skills and experience as follows;-

3. Demonstrable success in project management, including experience of marketing and communications (both online and offline), as well as effective reporting and evaluation.

We are looking for a motivated, organised and reliable individual who is happy to take on these responsibilities while working closely alongside others in our small team. Above all you will be flexible, resourceful, efficient and committed to contributing in a meaningful way to our local community. As with all small organisations, sometimes we have to go above and beyond what is expected on a daily basis, but in return we can offer greater flexibility than other larger organisations.
This is a part-time, maternity leave role for 12 months in the first instance. We are able to offer a flexible working pattern, which would comprise of 15 hours per week across three days a week. The hours can be between 9.30 and 4pm every day, with the possibility of hybrid working (combining office-based and remote working) during the school holidays.
This role would suit a parent or carer who would like their hours to work around the school day and have flexibility during school holidays.
Ideally the person would also be a local resident who is prepared to build on our links with other community organisations that are local to The Weir Link.

About the Role
The Philanthropy Lead joins an energised and committed major gifts team covering trusts and major donors. You will have significant ambitions for developing and sustaining relationships with new and existing donors giving up to seven figure gifts.
This role is key to leading excellent stewardship of donors and the management of the recently re-launched 1766 Circle of benefactors. You will ensure that the organisation communicates the impact of it’s work by creating a compelling and thoughtful stewardship plan. You will then deliver excellent communications and touch points with some of the closest supporters to ensure they feel connected to and inspired by the charity.
Ultimately the role will lead ACT’s philanthropy stewardship programme through establishing slick systems, sympathetic and thoughtful donor engagement and a pragmatic approach to project management.

- Engage with key decision-makers including SMs, MPs, Local Authorities, local councillors, corporate leaders, and community champions, to position the Trust and promote its objectives
- Support the Senior Management Team with major fundraising initiatives
- Co-operate and collaborate with the The Wildlife Trust central team, other Wildlife Trusts in Wales and across the UK
Organisational and Operational Management to include:
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with the Chairman, Honorary Officers and Trustees to ensure lawful and effective governance
- Lead the Trust’s Senior Management Team including holding monthly one to one meeting and annual appraisals
- Oversee financial management systems, ensuring the timely preparation and effective achievement of annual budgets
- Co-develop and deliver an annual Business Plan which aligns with the 2030 Strategy
- Oversee compliance with all statutory requirements (including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Employment Law, GDPR, etc.)
- Ensure effective communication with staff, trustees and volunteers
- Work with the trustees to implement appropriate risk management systems
- Deepen the Trusts commitment to the Welsh language

About IKWRO
IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan women and girls living in the UK, who have experienced, or are at risk of all forms of “honour” based abuse, including; forced marriage, child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM), or domestic abuse.
We work with women and girls of all ages, including lesbian women, bisexual women and trans women. We offer services in Kurdish, Farsi, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Turkish and English. IKWRO offers free advice, advocacy and counselling services and operates a refuge which provides safe accommodation and specialist support to single women at risk of “honour” based abuse, forced marriage and domestic abuse.
IKWRO also provides training for women and girls to help them understand their rights in the UK. In partnership with other organisations, we assist survivors of abuse with accessing English language classes and education, training and employment opportunities.
As well as supporting women and girls directly, we offer advice and training for professionals from the statutory and voluntary sectors, to better understand the needs of the women and girls we represent, the types of abuse they experience and to provide best practice prevention and support services.
We campaign to increase awareness and improve laws and policies to tackle all forms of “honour” based abuse and harmful practices including; forced marriage, child marriage, marital captivity, female genital mutilation, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, discrimination by sharia courts and to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s and girl’s rights.
The post-holder will be required to work in a confidential setting and provide non directive support to improve mental health and social functioning of women who are experiencing different forms of gender based violence. The post-holder will be professionally trained, accredited and work within the BACP/BPS Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2018) or equivalent.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
·Provide a service in line with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) guidelines or equivalent.
·To support the management team with the strategic development of IKWRO’s counselling services.
·The provision of effective and high-quality Counselling and Psychotherapy services to IKWRO’s clients through making use of up to date service standards and IKWRO’s Counselling Guidelines.
·To agree a counselling contract with IKWRO’s clients and provide a timely, responsive and appropriate service.
·Carrying out a small one to one clinical caseload and/or depending on the team’s clinical capacity.
·To manage waiting lists according to the level of risk, delivery plans and organisational priorities.
·To manage the delivery against targets and in accordance with contract requirements.
·To lead, line manage and develop the counselling services staff as required.
·To do the clinical supervision of Associate Counsellors and trainees.
·Helping clients work towards a deeper understanding of their concerns;
·Maintain clients’ records ensuring accordance with IKWRO’s policies particularly as they relate to confidentiality and data protection.
·Making appropriate referrals and signposting to other services if needed;
·Attending clinical individual supervision, managerial supervision and training courses;
·Liaising, as necessary, with other agencies and individuals to help make changes based on the issues raised by clients;
·Liaising with IKWRO’s staff.
·Maintaining and updating accurate digital records of all cases and up to date monitoring and evaluation databases as well as writing reports.

The role:
The purpose of this role is to ensure effective, efficient and accurate day-to-day financial management and financial controls for the Fidelity UK and international Foundations, including leading on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning and delivering the annual reports and accounts for all four Foundations. The post holder will prepare all finance papers for Board and Finance and Investment Subcommittee meetings and will support the oversight of the Foundations’ investment portfolios. This role will also be responsible for managing all payments made by the Foundations, in addition to ensuring risk and compliance guidelines are adhered to at all times.
The person
The successful applicant will have a detailed knowledge of accounting principles, ideally with experience of the charitable sector, and a strong track record of day-to-day financial management in a comparable role. You will have a proficiency in accounting (with a relevant finance qualification) and will be able to evidence the successful production of annual accounts and monthly reporting, ensuring monitoring against budgets. You’ll lead by example, supporting the team with escalations, ensuring that KPI’s are met and that they’re delivering the brilliant Repairs and Maintenance services their customers deserve. You’ll carry out call audits to ensure the team are communicating with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve repair related queries and ensure the team is receiving regular coaching and development.
Their contact centre is open Monday – Friday 8am to 6pm. Flexibility to pick up urgent queries outside these hours may also be required from time to time. Location

Salary:
The spot salary for this post is £40,966 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. Applicants, who do not meet all the requirements of the post, will start 5% or 10% below the spot salary.
