About the Team
This interim role reports to the Director of Communications, Policy and Campaigns (CPC), alongside other Assistant Directors.
The CPC team drives Shelter's campaigns for social housing and renters' rights, supporting our services and income generation efforts.
You'll manage heads of important content and engagement teams, driving strategic direction and collaboration across functions.
About the Role
As Assistant Director Communications and Content, you'll lead Shelter's communication efforts, ensuring impact, reach and a coherent organisational voice.
You'll oversee media teams, drive cross-channel campaigns, and develop ambitious communication strategies. With your experience in matrix management and project/change management, you'll guide teams to achieve our strategic goals amidst organisational change.
About You
We're seeking candidates with extensive experience leading and managing media and communications teams, along with a track record of developing impactful cross-channel campaigns. Your ability to navigate complexity, build collaborative relationships, and drive strategic change will be crucial in this role.

About The Role
The newly created Chief Financial Officer role will support Garsington Opera in driving longer-term commercial and strategic growth. Working closely with the Executive Director and as part of the senior management team, you will optimise new revenue streams and ensure business and financial systems are fit for purpose in supporting new revenue growth. Areas of responsibility will include:
Financial strategy and planning
- Collaborate with the SMT to plan, manage and advise on financial performance, maintaining a robust model to meet organisational needs including annual budgeting and long-term planning.
- Develop and maintain robust business and financial models to meet the evolving needs of the organisation.
- Steer and develop commercial revenue streams.
- Provide financial vision, strategic planning and discipline across the organisation.
Financial accounting and management
- Oversee, maintain and develop good financial reporting and statutory compliance, in collaboration with the Finance Director
- Oversee the preparation of accounts for external audit work.
- Provide information to SMT budget holders, challenging plans where appropriate and always seeking opportunities to optimise financial performance.
Leadership
- Provide reports on financial information and trends to the Board and its committees.
- Provide excellent team leadership as a member of SMT, engaging with all direct and indirect reports.
- Develop and lead effective and robust procurement policies for the organisation, ensuring that needs are understood and resourced appropriately.
- Staff management of finance team
About You
- You will be a fully qualified accountant with senior financial leadership experience.
- You will have proven experience in engaging with Board members and Executive or Senior Management Teams.

What’s in it for you?
- Salary of £80,000 - £90,000 per annum dependent on experience
- Annual leave: 24 days + Bank Holidays (incremental increases up to 28 days thereafter dependent on years of service)
- This role can be offered on a full time or part-time basis. Applicants who are able to work either full time or 0.8 FTE are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Hybrid working of 3 days in office and remainder up to you (please note that we are happy to discuss alternative patterns of working within reason).
- 4 x Dress rehearsal tickets for each opera performed each year.

Role Overview:
The purpose of the Executive Director roles within Depaul is to ensure that the organisation’s vision, mission and values are delivered through a strategic, shared approach by the Trustee Board, Executive Team and wider workforce.
As the appointed candidate, you will manage the Finance and IT departments and provide strategic and operational management of financial and budgetary processes, ensuring sound, prudent, financial management in compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements, underpinned by relevant policies and procedures.
You will provide support for income generation, and other service activity, to secure financial sustainability.
You will also report to the CEO and manager a team of 10 people - currently 8 FTE in Finance and 2 FTE in IT, including 2 direct reports – Financial Controller and Head of IT & Systems.
As part of responsibilities, you be attend meetings of the Council of Trustees, the Trustees’ Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC) and the Depaul Housing Services Board.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a financial service to Depaul UK that meets regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Ensure robust systems and processes for financial planning, analysis and reporting.
- Preparation of the annual statutory accounts and corporate reports to Depaul International, owning an effective relationship with external auditors.
- Support and guide budget holders and senior managers in their financial management responsibilities and produce the annual budget and periodic reforecasting.
- Provide strategic oversight, and monitoring, of the corporate risk register reporting to the CEO and Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
- Support ICT systems development ensuring that all ICT is strategically planned and fit for purpose, delivering cost savings and efficiency wherever possible.
