Working in close partnership with Marketing team, you will lead on challenge events and community fundraising, individual giving, in memory and legacy fundraising,
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver short, medium and long-term public fundraising plans and budgets, monitoring income and expenditure.
- Oversee the creation and evolution of fundraising products and propositions to ensure strong ROI and audience resonance.
- Champion public fundraising within integrated campaigns, maximising predictable, unrestricted income through regular giving, in memory and legacy programmes.
- Lead individual giving activity, including online appeals, Christmas appeal and auction, with a strong focus on stewardship and retention.
- Plan and deliver an annual cycle of supporter communications, including appeals, newsletters and impact reporting.
- Optimise third party and online fundraising channels (including Facebook and Instagram).
- Lead the legacy programme, embedding gifts in wills messaging across the organisation.
- Support families to fundraise with care, professionalism and sensitivity.
- Grow income from grassroots and community organisations (schools, faith groups, golf clubs and more), focusing on £1k–£5k opportunities.
- Manage and develop the challenge events portfolio (e.g. Hackney Half, London Landmarks, Royal Parks, London Marathon), ensuring excellent participant stewardship and maximum income.
You will bring:
- Proven experience delivering short, medium and long-term fundraising plans and budgets.
- Experience in at least one key public fundraising area (individual giving, challenge events, community fundraising, legacy or in memory).
- Strong relationship building skills with high emotional intelligence.
- A creative, growth oriented and commercially minded approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including crafting compelling impact stories.
- CRM experience (e.g. Donorfy or similar).
- Line management experience (formal or informal).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Exceptional time management within a dynamic environment.

The Trustees of John Wesley’s New Room seek an Executive Director to lead the organisation into the next exciting phase of its development. This role will suit someone who is a generalist, comfortable turning their hand to a variety of tasks and is equally happy contributing at a board meeting or engaging with visitors in the chapel. Most importantly, we are looking for someone with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills who can lead the staff and volunteers with confidence, cultivate a positive working culture, develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders and provide strategic leadership for the next phase of John Wesley’s New Room.
Our small staff team has undergone significant change in the past year to align with the future needs of the organisation. The Trustees expect this to continue in support of the newly refreshed strategy which will see a greater role for JWNR nationally and internationally, as well as playing an increasing role in the new Broadmead community following the anticipated redevelopment works in the local area, from retail to a more mixed residential and leisure offering. Having finalised a vision, we are looking for someone to lead the organisation through this change, laying a solid foundation on a practical and cultural level to then build upon for the future, creating more links with local communities as well as the wider Methodist church.
John Wesley’s New Room is the oldest Methodist building in the world (Grade I listed) and is a small but busy place where no two days are the same. Offering a chapel, museum and cafe by day, we also have meetings rooms and event spaces for hire, and welcome visitors both local and international on a regular basis. An important piece of Bristol’s history, the New Room is where Methodism started and the museum and collection tell the story of John Wesley. In addition, we manage a second museum Charles Wesley’s House, a short walk from the main site, which is mainly used for tour groups.

Senior Campaigner
Location: Hybrid (UK) with three days in our Shoreditch office

Changing Markets is looking for an experienced and driven Senior Campaigner to join our dynamic team in running and winning market transformation campaigns. They will work on our high-profile campaign to reduce emissions from food systems and hold big corporate polluters accountable. The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) with a semi-flexible working environment (daily working hours are flexible but attendance at the London office is expected three days a week).
The Role:
We are looking for a Senior Campaigner with at least seven years’ experience in running campaigns and a proven track record of success. They will work on our landmark campaign to transform the food system. The successful candidate should have strong writing skills, experience in commissioning research, writing reports, policy briefings, and building NGO coalitions. They should have outstanding inter-personal skills and be a team player with a good network of NGO contacts and the ability to form collaborative working relationships with a variety of different stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the implementation of high-impact campaign strategies and tactics for our campaigns on food system transformation with a focus on agricultural super pollutants.
· Conduct research and analysis to inform campaign messaging and write reports, blogs, responses to consultations, etc. to advance our campaign goals.
· Ensure the impactful roll-out of campaign activities across media, digital platforms, and amplify our messages via coordination with partners, through organisation of events and other outreach activities.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including NGOs, journalists, researchers, policymakers and corporates.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must have:
- demonstrable experience in running and winning international campaigns;
- excellent writing skills in English, additional language is a plus;
- the ability to lead, implement and coordinate research (either in-house or by external consultants) to create the evidence base needed to win campaigns;
- a good eye for detail combined with a strong ability to distill and critically evaluate key information and translate it into simple campaign materials;
- networking skills and a proven ability to create and run diverse coalitions;
- good organisational skills with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines, multi-task and operate in a fast-paced environment with occasional heavy workloads;
- the ability to think out-of-the-box and to adapt campaign plans to changing circumstances;
- willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice;
- an interest in environmental issues with a passion for creating lasting social change.
It’s a plus if the candidate has:
- good knowledge of debates surrounding environmental and climate change issues;
- experience in handling media relations;
- good knowledge of how to use social media creatively to win campaigns;
- experience of managing a grant budget and delivering narrative impact reports to funders.

About You
- Proven experience in delivering community fundraising.

The Role
You will be joining a team focusing on supporting our work with young people accessing creativity and employment in the creative industries and directly supporting the creative studios which sit below our venue.
As part of a team of 5, raising £700k for the current year, rising to £1m by 2028, as part of an overall fundraised income goal of £6 Million. The role reports into the Head of Philanthropy and sits within the directorship of Partnerships and Impact, which also holds the organisation’s programmes with young people and public affairs. You’ll manage a junior members of the team as well as working closely with our Events manager and Principle gift lead.
You’ll be responsible for driving your own portfolio of 90 prospects and donors, including 4-figure and 5-figure levels.
A day in the life of a philanthropy manager could begin with researching and identifying prospects from a recent event; giving a studio tour to prospective donors and enthusing them about our youth programme; preparing a report for a major donor about our work with young entrepreneurs; and ending the day in the members bar with a current supporter who’s there for a gig.
Weekend and evening work will be required according to business needs, mainly through attending departmental events with donors and attending the members bar.
About you:
We would expect applicants to this role to have at least 3 years previous experience in managing a portfolio of prospects and donors and securing gifts toward charitable aims or projects. The ideal candidate would also have management experience of staff or volunteers and of working in a team towards a shared fundraising goal.
