An exceptional opportunity to help take a remarkable charity to its next stage
The Barrie Wells Trust is a children’s charity dedicated to creating extraordinary experiences and unforgettable memories for seriously ill and disabled children and their families.
The Trust has achieved an outstanding record of impact throughout the UK since its launch in 2008, with its work made possible through the vision and personal commitment of its Executive Chairman, Barrie Wells MBE. Historically, Barrie has managed and personally funded 100% of the Trust’s operational activities.
The Trust’s largest and most successful initiative is Box4Kids. Dedicated to bringing joy and happiness to children living with serious illness and disability, Box4Kids provides access to VIP experiences at major sporting and entertainment venues. Since 2010, the Trust has given over 29,000 guests VIP experiences through its Box4Kids initiative.
We are now seeking an exceptional Director of Fundraising to play a key role to take the Trust to its next phase. The successful candidate will work closely with Barrie, to build on the Trust’s considerable success whilst creating new opportunities to increase its reach and impact.
This is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced charity professional who combines proven fundraising ability with exceptional relationship-building and operational management skills.
A unique events model
The Trust’s events depend on bringing together three important groups of people:
Companies and high net worth individuals who are willing to donate hospitality boxes and other valuable experiences.
Hospitals, hospices and other charities who identify and nominate seriously ill and disabled children and their families who would benefit from the Trust’s support.
Volunteer hosts who generously give their time to attend events, ensuring that each family receives a warm, personal and memorable experience.
In-house event management team with responsibility for organising the events.
The Director will be responsible for overseeing these relationships and ensuring that the whole process works seamlessly, whilst also building a successful fundraising function.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & partnerships
· Create and implement a fundraising strategy capable of establishing sustainable income for the Trust.
· Identify, approach and develop relationships with potential corporate supporters and high net worth individuals.
· Secure financial donations as well as donations of hospitality boxes, experiences and other support.
· Build long-term relationships with donors and supporters and ensure they feel valued and engaged with the Trust’s work.
· Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant legislation and the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Fundraising Practice.
Event management & communications
· Lead the planning and delivery of the Trust’s programme of events, ensuring every event is professionally organised and delivers an exceptional experience for the children and their families.
· Oversee the development of strong relationships with hospitals, hospices and other appropriate organisations to encourage nominations of children and families.
· Oversee the recruitment and coordination of a strong network of reliable and enthusiastic hosts who give their time to attend events.
· Oversee the development of communications that engage different audiences including box and financial donors, beneficiaries, hospitals and hosts.
· Ensure the Trust’s information systems, website and social media are relevant and kept up to date.
Leadership & Operations
· Work closely with Barrie Wells to turn the Trust’s vision and objectives into practical action.
· Line manage key members of the team and develop staff, creating a culture of creativity, accountability and continuous improvement.
· Manage budgets, expenditure and resources effectively.
· Ensure the Trust operates to appropriate standards of governance and best practice.
About you
We are looking for an experienced and highly personable charity professional with a proven track record of success.
You will have:
· A successful career within the charity sector, with demonstrable fundraising achievement.
· Experience of creating and significantly growing fundraising income.
· Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills.
· Experience of recruiting, managing and motivating staff and/or volunteers.
· Excellent organisational and project management skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Sound commercial judgement and an entrepreneurial approach.
· The personality and emotional intelligence to represent the Trust with warmth, enthusiasm and professionalism.
You will be someone who enjoys bringing people together to achieve something special. You will understand that a donated box, a hospital nomination or a volunteer giving up their time is not simply an operational transaction – it is one of the essential ingredients in creating an extraordinary experience for a child and their family.
Why join the Barrie Wells Trust?
You will be joining a highly successful charity with an exceptional story and working directly with its founder and Executive Chairman, Barrie Wells. You will have the opportunity to build the Trust’s fundraising capability virtually from the ground up, while helping to shape its future direction. For the right person, this is a role where your relationships, energy, fundraising ability and leadership can have a very tangible impact.
If you are an experienced charity professional who wants to make a lasting difference and play a major part in the future of the Barrie Wells Trust with the potential to take on significantly greater responsibility, we would love to hear from you.
Please include a covering letter, giving specific examples of your fundraising experience and achievements, including the scale and type of funds you have personally raised or been responsible for developing. Please also explain briefly why you believe this role is right for you.

The role:
This role is about taking our communications to the next level and ensuring the Teens Unite voice is heard louder than ever.
You’ll be our go-to creative for compelling copy and standout design across print, online and digital marketing. From our website and newsletters to campaigns and supporter communications, you’ll bring the Teens Unite voice, purpose and personality to life - creating meaningful, thought-provoking communications that capture attention and inspire action.
You’ll keep our supporters motivated, engaged and connected to the difference they make. From demonstrating impact to the major corporate partners we work alongside, to sharing the heartwarming stories our regular donors want to hear, you’ll ensure everyone who makes our support possible feels recognised, valued and connected to our mission.

And as we embark on our most ambitious chapter yet, you’ll also play an important role in raising the profile of our capital appeal. You’ll help build momentum, generate exposure and increase supporter engagement as we bring England’s first purpose-built retreat for young people overcoming cancer, to life.

Actively Interviewing
This organisation is scheduling interviews as applications come in. They're ready to hire as soon as they find the right person. Don't miss your opportunity, apply now!
About the Charity
Our client supports vulnerable individuals and families across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, including young people who take on significant responsibilities well beyond their years. It's a small, close-knit fundraising and communications team looking to grow with the right person alongside them.
About the Role
This is a genuinely broad, hands-on role — the conduit between fundraising and communications activity. You'll be the first person to own a brand-new fundraising CRM system, and the first to build proper supporter journeys from a base of 600–800 contacts already in place. Two regular newsletters already go out to supporters and the people the charity works with — what's missing is someone to turn that reach into lasting relationships.
This October, the charity launches its first-ever integrated fundraising and communications campaign — a Christmas appeal for the young people it supports. Depending on timing, you might join in time to help run it, or join just after and inherit real campaign data to build the next one from. Either way, it's a genuine ground-floor opportunity: no legacy systems, no inherited decisions — what you build is what exists.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of a new CRM system, becoming the team's go-to on supporter data
- Design and build supporter journeys for regular givers and donors from scratch
- Support delivery of a major Christmas fundraising campaign and future appeals
- Work closely with the Communications Manager, plugging fundraising into existing newsletters
- Build authentic case studies and stories with the charity's young people's voice & participation team
- Help identify new income opportunities alongside the Fundraising Manager once the fundamentals are in place
About You
- Experience of fundraising, supporter care, customer engagement or communications, with excellent written and verbal skills
- Comfortable owning a CRM yourself — able to run reports and understand segmentation, not just direct someone else in it (specific CRM experience is a bonus, not a requirement)
- A track record delivering campaigns, appeals or multi-channel engagement activity
- Strong organisational skills, able to manage several priorities and interpret data to recommend improvements
- High standards of accuracy and confidentiality, with a sound understanding of data protection and ethical fundraising
Desirable: individual giving, regular giving or community fundraising background; experience with Gift Aid and fundraising platforms; charity or social care sector experience.

Location: London based, with hybrid working in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy
You will be joining a team dedicated to raising vital year-round income and making Crisis supporters feel valued and inspired. This role will support the delivery of our Mid-Value Programme, as we continue to grow this crucial source of sustainable income and inspire more supporters to deepen their commitment to ending homelessness.
About the role
Mid-value giving sits at the heart of our new Brand, Marketing and Fundraising Strategy as one of our highest-priority income streams. As an Individual Giving Executive, you’ll play a key role in managing one-to-one and one-to-many relationships with Crisis mid-value supporters, delivering excellent supporter care to deepen engagement and build financial commitment, and supporting the multi-channel programme that delivers tangible impact for Crisis and bring people closer to our mission to end homelessness.
As we evaluate and refine our Mid-value offer to supporters, you’ll be using creativity and innovation to develop campaigns, communications, and engagement opportunities to inspire people with this way of giving. By collaborating with colleagues from across the organisation and our trusted partners, you’ll be bold in delivering an impactful stewardship programme that nurtures our supporters’ consideration and creates new opportunities for them to feel valued. You’ll take an equitable approach in sharing stories of people experiencing homelessness, to deepen our supporters’ engagement and bring them closer to our mission.
About you
We’re looking for a fundraiser with experience delivering in-person, one to one stewardship, ideally within a philanthropy or high-value context. You’ll be an organised project manager and excellent communicator across multiple channels and be comfortable having thoughtful and tactful conversations with our supporters.
We are a dynamic team that delivers results and are in the process of re-designing our mid-value programme for Crisis. So we’re looking for someone who can learn quickly and happy to get involved with multiple projects straight away. To be successful in this role you will:
- be a confident communicator, whether writing persuasively for a specific audience, speaking one-to-one with a Crisis supporter, or organising events for Crisis mid-value supporters.
- have knowledge of higher-value and philanthropy giving programmes.
- be an effective project manager, with experience working in direct marketing, ideally within a fundraising environment.
- enjoy thinking creatively and using storytelling to bring complex issues to life.
- be comfortable using digital platforms and technology, and working with data to improve outcomes.
- take an organised and proactive approach to managing your workload and balancing different priorities.
- be a solutions-focused problem solver who is ready to adapt to a changing environment.
Previous experience in fundraising or stewardship is essential, ideally within a higher-value/philanthropy context. Most of all we’re looking for a candidate who’s passionate about ending homelessness and can play an active role in a busy, diverse and dynamic team.

Through funding, strategic partnerships and targeted support, the Trust will help create safe, inclusive and vibrant places that thrive long into the future.
Backed by an initial £40 million UK Government endowment, the Trust will act as a catalyst for change, investing not only in physical regeneration but also in the people, skills and activities that enable communities to flourish.
