Warrington Women’s Aid is looking for a passionate, resilient, and trauma-informed Complex Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join our dedicated team supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in helping women with complex and multiple needs to achieve safety, recovery, and independence. You will provide intensive support to women experiencing domestic abuse who may also be facing challenges relating to mental health, substance misuse, learning disabilities, neurodiversity, physical disabilities, and other intersecting needs.

The Role
You will hold a caseload of women living in refuge, living in the community, or moving on to independent accommodation. Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies, you will provide practical and emotional support, advocacy, safety planning, and crisis intervention, helping women navigate some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering trauma-informed one-to-one support and safety planning.
- Supporting women with complex and intersecting needs.
- Advocating on behalf of women with housing, health, criminal justice, safeguarding, and social care services.
- Providing community outreach and resettlement support.
- Delivering workshops, drop-ins, and training sessions that build confidence and independence.
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate case records, risk assessments, and outcome monitoring.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of our services.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting vulnerable women affected by domestic abuse, trauma, or violence against women and girls.
- Has worked with women experiencing complex needs, including mental health challenges, substance misuse, learning disabilities, neurodiversity, or physical disabilities (essential).
- Understands risk assessment, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice.
- Can confidently manage a varied caseload and work effectively with multi-agency partners.
- Has excellent communication, record-keeping, and organisational skills.
- Is compassionate, adaptable, resilient, and committed to empowering women.

The role
This role will work collaboratively within Manchester City Council's multi-disciplinary Thriving Families Team to support adult victims/survivors of domestic abuse within families where there are safeguarding concerns. The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will provide trauma-informed, strengths based and needs led support to help victims/survivors increase safety, reduce risk and improve their emotional wellbeing. Through one-to-one tailored interventions, the role will empower victims/survivors to make informed choices, rebuild confidence and access specialist support services.
The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will work collaboratively with the Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker and partner agencies, ensuring a coordinated, multi-agency, whole-family approach. They will complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments, develop and regularly review individual safety and support plans, provide advocacy, attend multi-agency meetings and ensure the voice of the victim/survivor informs risk management and safety planning.
About you
You'll be confident in delivering direct work with adult victims/survivors of domestic abuse. This will include completing comprehensive risk and needs assessments to develop tailored safety and support plans, alongside providing practical and emotional support that promotes recovery, resilience and increased safety.
You'll have experience of working in a trauma-informed way with individuals experiencing domestic abuse and be confident in providing advocacy, psychoeducation and support around the impact of domestic abuse on adults, children and parenting. You'll have experience of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working.
Above all, you'll have the ability to build trusting relationships with victims/survivors, empowering them to make informed choices while working collaboratively with professionals to achieve positive outcomes for families. You'll bring a compassionate,
strengths based and solution focused approach. We'd also love to hear from applicants who are fluent in speaking an additional language.
